I agree with that entirely because of how many drafts in a row we have taken wr early. The flip side of that is we still dont have a very great wr group. Tet is very solid, I will get flamed for this but I still think his ceiling is an elite #2 like Tee Higgins, Coker has shown a lot of flashes and I think he deserves a chance but im not sure what his ceiling is. After drafting all these receivers in the first and second we still have no shifty receivers who can just run good routes and create separation consistently. Horn has that potential I guess but hes more of a gadget guy. All that said I dont trust ou front office like a lot of people seem to. I think Dan has done a great job at throwing money at the top free agents and they have played well. Everything outside of that is hit or miss. Last years draft had a lot of contributors.

Good chance we have a choice for pick of the litter at ILB or DT in round 1. I think Styles is ultimately a 4-3 OLB in the league.

I wouldn't call it monumentally stupid. Probably a stretch for the player, but not the position. A WR there is insurance for a very thin group. The Panthers can have as many as 4 or 5 WRs on the field at the same time, but only 2 are real threats to even consistently make the catch. None are real threats to break a tackle or make a guy miss and take it to the house. If one of those 2 go down... If that pick (whoever he is) has 60+ receptions, 600+ yards, and 4+ TDs, then is he still a bad pick in your opinion? Compared to a DT that'll likely take 3 seasons to really become a guy. For DT comparison, Mason Graham had 28 tackles and 0.5 sacks. Walter Nolen had 8 tackles and 2 sacks. Derrick Harmon had 11 tackles and 3 sacks. For safeties, Nick Emmanwori had 56 tackles and 1 INT. Malaki Starks had 52 tackles and 2 INTs. Biggest problems with the defense was pass rush and coverage LB. They have been addressed with young expensive knowns. Not unknown rooks. This isn't about Bryce Young. It's about improving the roster. If BY flops this year, his replacement will be drafted in 2027. They can't let that guy come into the same horrible situation the previous guy did.

Why is XL a bust and need 2 be replaced but Young gets 1000 chances to prove he may be avg? Also let's be real XL was a 2nd rnd wr. They just wanted the 5th opp if it took time for him 2 develop so they went up 1 spot. Maybe if they didn't trade the farm to get Young they could have got or had a better wr... -
2025 Draft Re-Grades (Or, One Idiot Doubles Down)

He gushed over him when mocking him to the Cowboys. Then he won OROTY with Bryce Young. The guy is obviously a fuging moron. -
It's a dangerous game but I'd rather play the Pistons instead of the celtics. That means staying in 8th and beating the Heat at home after losing to the Raptors. Obviously best case would be finding a way into the 6th seed but I think the loss to Philly pretty much sealed the Hornets fate to be in the play in

Just take BPA and if it so happens to be a WR then so be it or try to trade down and pick up some extra draft capital. You can draft for needs in rounds 2 through 7, but that first round pick needs to be someone who can come in and be an impact player. Personally, I'd want us to take Blake Miller or Spencer Fano to man the RT spot for the next decade plus after Moton hangs it up and who could possibly play LT if Ickey doesn't come back to 100%. But if the grade on those guys don't match up to the 19th pick or if we have a WR graded much higher than I'll have no problem with the team going a different direction. I do think the coaching staff is lower on XL than they are willing to admit publicly so a WR pick wouldn't shock me. The offense and Bryce looked better with Coker playing the Z than XL so if we upgrade that spot, it'll allow us to be more versatile with our WR alignments as both Tmac and Coker were pretty good lining up in the slot. -
It's the suggestion. "We can't draft a receiver in the first round, because that would be three times in a row. The FO doesn't know what it's doing. We can't do that [blah blah blah]." Stick with your board! If receiver is at the top of the board. If TE is at the top of the board, so be it. Morgan used free agency to give the Panthers that flexibility. It's that simple.

That's bullshit though. Cam's interior line was inflated by Cam's ability to take a defender away and extend plays. He had a lame duck Deangelo and Stewart who was at the end of his prime. He had GOAT Steve Smith yes for 3 years. Olsen was a stud but was a crutch because we didn't have a good WR group. Our wideouts were routinely bottom of the league in separation rate. CMC was great but was too little too late. It was a moot point once TJ Watt destroyed Cam's shoulder. Cam never had the depth of offense and WR's this group has. Cam would have taken last year's team to 12 wins easy.

2025 Draft Re-Grades (Or, One Idiot Doubles Down)
Joe Bear replied to Joe Bear's topic in Carolina Panthers
He refuses to admit when he's wrong, so he simply creates alternative realities where his lousy prognostications panned out. Why would a player win OROY if he only played well for half a damn season? If T-Mac played well for half a season he'd have given the Panthers a D-... Another great example. From Week 1 to Week 18, he listed the Panthers as one of the NFL's most overrated teams. BY WHO? -

You want play makers, regardless if it's in the slot or not. Any old JAG is not the goal. I'd think that they want Coker in the slot and a faster threat on the outside, but there will be some overlap regardless if they're playing chess on Sunday as opposed to checkers. Versatility is still a thing also.
