  2. wut? Riding Rico is literally the only way we can win football games. And you want to not do that in a winnable game? we have seen w/ Hubbard that it takes more than our gameplan to win a game.....we need the opponent to have painfully horrific offense in addition to that. You play to win the game. You ride Rico until he can't ride.
  3. There's no way he's sold. I see a combination of coach speak and coddling when it comes to Bryce. Which is what Canales needs to do in order for Bryce to be successful enough for Canales to keep his job. But Canales has to be pining for a QB who doesn't need a perfect situation in order to overcome his limitations.
  4. Howell really doesn't have a chance of seeing the field in Philadelphia outside of injury or mop-up duty. If Howell isn't under contract, you don't think the Eagles would be willing to let him go for 4th or 5th? If they did that's a trade you almost have to make. Even if never became starter that wouldn't be a bad price to acquire a backup QB. Howell would be an immediate upgrade from Dalton.
  5. Yeah, the bad news is that Bryce ain't it. The good news is that despite setting ourselves back with that trade we've actually put the rest of the roster in the position of being a QB away from competing. All we need now is for Tepper and the organization to jerk their head out of their "sunk cost fallacy" ass and realize it. Canales' play calling in recent weeks shows me he's there. I just hope the rest of the organization including Tepper is as well.
  6. Based on some posters here that’s not comforting.
  7. The guy is miserable. Just let him sulk.
  8. He's a question I would like an opinion on. Do you think Canales is sold on Bryce? That's really the question everyone should be answering.
  9. Team A - 187 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 6.2. Team B -170 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 6.0 - bolded is the 2025 Carolina Panthers Team C - 161 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 5.5 Carolina has made HUGE strides this year defensively and with their rush attack. But the problem is the problem. It's actually insane exactly how productive Rico Dowdle has been in the NFL this season (even more so insane given teams just play the run). 3 starts and is the 3rd leading rusher in the NFL at the half way mark. Insanity. Everything in Carolina is trending up. But one aspect of the team.
  10. Look, Tua let the cat out of the bag a few weeks ago when he said that short QBs CAN'T see down field without clear passing lanes. This is from a slightly taller NFL QB than Bryce. If short QBs have to step up in the pocket or it gets murky, they have to depend on timing/play design and hope the WR is where the should be when they pass the ball. Point being, why should we have to limit our offense to compensate for the deficiencies of the QB, especially going forward beyond this season? it is what it is for now, the staff will work with and scheme around Bryce. Going forward it seems like malpractice to say: "this dude, with all his limitations, is the guy to get us to a Super Bowl." Complete and utter insanity.
  11. “Sutton with his first touchdown as a panther! In front of the home crowd! And he’s running to Sir Purr to celebrate and…oh my god no”
  12. Yep, just sign me a legit veteran journeyman then keep our options open in the draft and don't force anything.
  13. Something to consider with the #Panthers’ 4-1 stretch is the adjustments made by the staff to put guys in position to succeed following the first quarterly meeting: - Wallace and Rozeboom switching roles - Nijman getting to play RT (he’s considerably better there and was huge in two wins vs. DAL/GB) - Moehrig being used more creatively - Scott, Smith-Wade and Ransom being used in a complementary rotation - Jimmy Horn getting an effective package of plays - Ultimately, the Chuba/Rico swap https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1985364037534650764?s=46 Would also add tight ends opening up the scheme from run blocking perspective. The four guys have done a nice job of finishing. Plus, Nic Scourton’s emergence as a starter. https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1985364492700545503?s=46
  14. See it for what it is, a guy that’s had 3 fantastic games. We don’t have a need to rush to resign him to a big deal now based on that, especially when there are more pressing issues in our roster. He’s already getting banged up on top of that and will be 28 at the start of the next season. As far as the other guys at the top, Mccaffrey is the only one of those guys drafted in the first. Taylor is the only other one in the list that I’d say the offense is built around on a good team. But the bills are still a playoff team without cook, and achane while a good player is someone who gets volume touches on a bad team.
  15. Worked for Buffalo. No Young is not Allen, but Allen had to learn how to throw certain passes before he became what he is today. Young can learn that too. Fran Tarkenton was not a tall QB, but he learned and the coaches worked to his strengths to make him a great QB. Young is starting to throw with some zip on his balls. Maybe a small roll out to give better looks. Takes time. That first year was a killer for him and the team. We can see improvements since his first year. Next year he will show more. I am not a Young fan but I will take him over an old washed up QB any day.
  16. Those who know me well enough, know I love the run game. Chubba was never an elite talent. Although he has HOF effort and leadership. That's what got him paid when this team didn't have a better answer on the roster. I doubt the team has given up on Brooks. I love Rico's running style. Fast, elusive, great vision, balance, and a tough SOB. His running style will never lead to a long career in the NFL. I do feel the Panthers should absolutely try to extend him. No more than 2 or 3 seasons, and nothing that breaks the bank. If he doesn't sign, ya move on and find another RB.

  18. I think I agree with you on most of this, even on Young. He's playing like a backup and always has. He's able to make a play when you absolutely need it. He's also able to make the most boneheaded mistake in the most crucial part of the game. On Canales I'm not sold...yet. Evero is still a sell for me. I do not like his bend and break defense.
  19. Icky: very close to being sold. His pass protection does look significantly better but I also have to consider that the 1980s "run, run, run the ball pass as last resort" (to the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat) we're being forced to run perfectly fits his skillset and probably isn't what we want to run long-term. Let's say 85% sold. T-Mac: Sold. I think he's a legit #1 WR. He looks the part of a top 10 draft pick rookie. XL: Pretty close to being sold that he's a bust. Bryce: Completely sold that he's a bust. Chuba: He is what he is. He's a solid rotational/backup RB. Good for him leveraging a good year into a payday but he's not a starting caliber NFL RB. He benefitted greatly from the investments we made in the OL last year. Scourton: Incomplete. Pass rushers are usually not instant impact players in the draft. He looks like a decently promising rookie. Derrick Brown: Sold that he's the best DT we've ever had. Horn: Sold that he's our best CB since J-No and praying he's completely over his injury issues. Moehrig: Sold that he's a great SS who has to play SS. If you're consistently playing him in the deep third he's going to be a liability. 2025 draft class: Sold that it's our most promising draft in a loooooong time. Which granted isn't saying much but it's something. So far so good. Canales: Stubbornly avoiding riding Rico for so long is frustrating but I like how he's adjusted and he's quick to limit the damage Bryce can do to us. After the ugly endzone INT we were done throwing downfield yesterday and after the near INT to T-Mac on the final drive we were done throwing period. Evero: I still have my issues but I mean, I can't deny that our D is looking better and better despite most of the cap being spent on the other side of the ball. Just don't ask the man's opinion on free agent targets. Like ever. Just don't. Morgan: I've seen enough to give him another year.
  20. I don’t want to find out and risk seeing what he does to celebrate
