  1. Past hour
  2. And now UNC is the utter laughingstock of all of those same programs that were "good for PR." How do you think that is gonna work out for recruiting? How do you think BB is going to handle something that he has never had to in his life, negative recruiting?
  3. There's a thread on it. Baker has a legit beef to a point but bringing it up so early in the season kind of out of the blue just makes him look immature.
  4. If my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle. UNC is 30th in NIL budget, "buying any player" isn't realistic.
  5. I'm all for paying a coach big money. I just thought hiring an NFL lifer who is 73 years old and seems to clearly be going through some sort of late life crisis was a big mistake. All of that media attention is coming back to bite us in the ass in a big way now. It's still there, it's just focused on us being a complete clown show.
  6. Yeah that’s why I mentioned the PFF strategy. This year was the first year we used it. I haven’t gone to confirm it but I imagine if we used a data approach in 2024 XL would be in a “off the board” bucket. XL was more of a leftover RAS king approach.
  7. I don't know how he's won any games since he can't make NFL throws. Maybe that's why he has as many running TD's as he's gotten.
  8. You know, I would probably ask the AD and alum that fuged up the current hire so badly. They are supposed to know, right? Oddly, that didn't work out, did it?
  9. Some Drama between Baker Mayfield and Steve Wilks Baker says Steve traded him when he was in Carolina Steve says he didn't have the power to trade Baker or CMC Instagram (2) Adam Schefter on X: "Former Panthers HC and Jets DC Steve Wilks’ responded to the comments that Baker Mayfield made after beating New York last Sunday: https://t.co/nyk2EeIOI7" / X
  10. Dan Mullen I could get with. Matt Entz is a complete unknown. The one thing neither of those two would've done is have UNC football constantly on Sportscenter, Pat McAfee, 60 Minutes, etc. over the course of the spring and summer. That isn't translating to wins, so it means nothing, but at the time the coverage was excellent PR and excitement for the program. Mendoza's little brother plays at Indiana. As soon as he was told he wouldn't start at Georgia (the only other school he legit considered) he was never going anywhere but Indiana, which is why he was cheap. Cignetti is making $9M a year if you include his retention bonus. So that doesn't solve your paying a coach big money issue. And to buy him out would cost UNC a literal fortune, which doesn't help your resources argument. I appreciate you at least answering the question finally.
  11. The Panthers under the Tepper's put way too much emphasis on marketing and winning social media instead of improving the product on the field. Hell they can't get grass instead of turf right but they're sure eager to hock racoon inspired sandwiches. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that this has yielded negative results.
  12. When I attack someone, it will be very clear. I don’t even care that much it is just speculating and discussion. I don’t think I ever claimed the timeline varied from what you just gave. But to speculate further, the fact that he did not have an avenue to go back home does not preclude his family not being happy about not being there. Maybe they didn’t even want him to play another year, who knows?
  13. I am not arguing with you that he didn't have world class WRs at Bama, but my statement stands. They still would have been much better than anything Carolina has put out there not name Tmac.
  14. Too early to say. Want to see moore and athan against better competition. Beck and mendoza need to continue their level of play. Nuss needs to show more. Easy to jump on someone from 1 or two big performances but gotta see more play for the true rankings to settle.
  15. So you really think he can't throw to the endzone from the 50? I'm not saying he has the strongest arm in the NFL, but he has more than enough arm to make all the on schedule throws. Now, I agree he ain't gonna be throwing across his body 45 yards down the field. He ain't that.
  16. I honestly tried so hard, looked at all the players on the final year of their contracts, not likely to be resigned, could bring us anything in return. Not a long list. Had to remove people like Renfrow, Jansen, Corbett, as they are all very unlikely to be moved. Brady Christensen and Yosh Nijman were thoughts, but I felt their value was too high for us to part with.
  17. And one is playing on a relatively weak d line, while the other is playing on arguably the best d line in the NFL.
  18. Don't want to say that Thielen has basically checked out but jumping to another team right before the season starts, and you're working with a young QB who is effectively a rookie by not playing a whole season, and you're 100% retiring when the season is over? Of course he would've been far more productive with us because he had spent the entire offseason thinking he'd play here.
  19. They got the Cosby treatment. Ruffied and raped.
  20. Who the fug is trading anything for David Moore or Nick Scott? If I could get someone to offer a third for XL I'm taking it with no hesitation.
  21. Yeah, that was one of Cam's key messages to him. Like man, you gotta focus on FOOTBALL FIRST. All these other opportunities likely vanish if you let yourself wash out of the league. I really don't think the Panthers did him on favors focusing on him so prominently in their marketing. He was a guy coming off a less than stellar rookie season that we were hoping would make a leap but the Panthers got out ahead of themselves and treated him like he'd arrive because they saw his marketability but that hinged on him delivering on the field. Right now everyone is looking a little clownish because they put the cart before the horse.
  22. He's not without blame by any means. But I do agree it would be nice to see better consistent ball placement from the QB position.
  23. Tetairoa was limited again in practice and listed as questionable, although he and the team seem to think he will play. Injury Report.
  24. Sounds like he's mentally down and has to talk to a bunch of reporters asking him what the issue is. In any event I'm not ready to drag him into the street and shoot him yet. He just needs to keep his head down and keep working. Keep the main thing the main thing and stay off social media.
  25. He's gonna be fine. This is a wake up call... and for what it's worth, Bryce is throwing him absolute dogsh*t passes every time he targets him.
  26. I know the trade deadline is still a long way off, but with the Panthers sitting at 1–2 and not looking like playoff contenders, I wanted to take a realistic look at players we could potentially move. Honestly, it was harder than expected to find tradeable talent, that is, either guys underperforming or players on the final year of their deal. Here’s the short list I came up with and what I think their market value might be: Player Position Age (2025) Contract Status Estimated Trade Return Xavier Legette WR 23 Rookie contract (team control but underperforming) Late 3rd–early 4th if buyer believes in upside; 5th floor D.J. Johnson DE/OLB 26 Rookie deal through 2026 5th–6th round; toolsy pass rusher with cheap control but low production David Moore WR 30 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round depth rental Nick Scott S 29 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round depth/ST Akayleb Evans CB 26 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round if CB injuries hit contender James Mitchell TE 26 Expiring after 2025 6th–7th round late flier for TE depth
