My favorite guy for us

Anthony Hill Jr./Jacob Rodriguez/CJ Allen/jake Golday Kayden Mcdonald/Christen Miller/Lee Hunter Emanuel McNeill Warren Eli Stowers Sam Heckt Denzel Boston/Germie Bernard TJ Parker/Cashius Howell Any of the CBS We are in good shape to get another starting caliber player

McVeigh was close to retiring after '22. There is no way they didn't get his consent to draft Simpson. I wasn't surprised they made the pick; i was surprised they didn't try to trade back before making the pick but they could have been afraid the Jets or Steelers would grab him first. They still need a wr but that position is pretty deep in this draft.

Mike Kaye predicting we trade up in 2nd round
ProcessBlue2 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that -
There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up. That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1. While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE. Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me. Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth. ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace. EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely. FS? Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs. CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.

Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.

Promising setup for Freeling. Good LG next to him in Damien Lewis, and Carolina doesn’t have to force the issue immediately. Freeling gets runway if he needs it, with a chance to take the job quickly if he proves he’s better than Walker in camp. https://x.com/brandonthornnfl/status/2047708354928144463?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

I dont know if the panthers see fs as big of a need as some do. Moehrig has 1 spot locked down. We resigned nick " the beast " Scott. I want to see more of Ransom. I think there was some chatter of trying csw at safety too. Imo the panthers would be better served getting a cb or 2 since horn is injury prone and jackson is probably gone after this year

Anthony Hill jr and Josh Trotter are below Rodriguez and above Golday on the simulator I'm using to keep track of who's left. Seems like getting one of 4/5 round 2 worthy ILB's can happen, but if we really wanna specific guy might have to use one of our 5ths and a 2027 4th or something -
Finally! Draft day is here. (NFL Draft Round 1 Live thread)

More highly rated by who? The Media or some analyst? Morgan said that they thought the guy we picked was our most highest rated player left on the board. While it remains to be seen if they were right, the team's ratings are the only ones that matter when the pick is made. -
I get real Les Snead "fug them picks" style on Day 2 and Day 3. I know depth and blah blah, but the likelihood a 5th rounder makes any impact is slim. Go get JRod, go get your safety, go get your center. If we come out of the weekend with an OT, JRod, Safety, and Center and a slew of UDFA to fill the roster, I'm not complaining over losing pick 159 who had decent tape at Kennesaw State and a 6th round CB who is fast but can't cover to save his life.

offensive line specifically doesn’t matter that much because you need to get bigger to play at the main schools and people aren’t dropping huge amounts of money on an 18 year old who’s going to start and if you’re a high end prospect you’re not going to UNC for 500k instead of Alabama. and there’s only so many spots with nfl caliber staffs to train up o line talent. And then there’s stuff like the big 12 playing a style of football that doesn’t translate at all to the nfl and high end prospects avoiding it like the plague, money be damned. I cant think of an instance UGA has lost an offensive lineman to a school because they could pay him more or he wanted to start early, but I don’t really follow recruiting that closely anymore. I mean Georgias problem last year was the qb, not offensive or defensive line depth. And Georgia qb problems is just a weird quirk with Kirby. the main player UGA has lost to NIL money is Carson Beck and good riddance

And for all the love that J-Rod is getting, I'm thinking that CJ Allen is the better bet. -

There's is one I've heard of that may be a sleeper. His name escapes me at the moment so I will have to go back and watch the videos of where I heard it. It was one of the teams recent reviews. Might have been Thomas Davis that threw the name out there. -

I could see us working the phones, especially if Rodriguez, Hill, and/or Allen go off the board early. Those three seem like they're cream of the crop LBs left and then there's Golday and after that there's a pretty steep drop off. Not to say there won't be some good players come put of that group because there will be but they'll be getting harder to identify at that point. -
NIL doesn’t hurt teams like Georgia or Ohio state because they’re legacy programs that have infinite money anyway with top tier staffs and it just let them pay players out in the open. it hurts teams like Clemson who no one really gives a poo about and has a moron head coach. And I guess every west coast team that isn’t Oregon.

Round 1: The Carolina Panthers select OT Monroe Freeling (Georgia)
MechaZain replied to rodeo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Phillips was a desperation plug for a dire need. The fact that we paid so much for a guy with his risks tells you all you need to know about how bad our pass rush and the market for that position is. -
ILB or true FS but I guess it depends on who makes it to our spot
