Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.

So who was evaluating? They have a different team for the first round? Crazy how lopsided it is. (I mean, Hurney was a sports writer before the NFL not a scout).
-
Well seeing as we aren’t yet in a race for the playoffs if it takes another week, it takes another week. He has been out more games than I expected. That situation was some fuged up timing if you believe the official timeline. I don’t know what to think about that.

I do remember that now that you mentioned it I saw an interview with him at the time and I think it’s mentioned here on the board somewhere. I was impressed. [He was considered a leading guy in that company, a scouting think tank/consultant type of thing. I remember the ex GM of the Falcons I think was involved. And Tampa Bay. Dimitrof?] -
Yeah that was something. In my youth a QB that couldn’t make it as a QB in the NFL and was going to try WR went a bit later. Now that you mention him though what would he look like at QB of the Panthers today? Makes me think.

This seems a bit... tepid lol.

Thielen wouldn't have been higher than WR 3 on any other team but the Panthers though. Look what he's done with the Vikings so far. Every starting WR that was traded/released/ not resigned hasnt done anything for another team but they were Bryce's #1/#2 WRs during their time here. Johnson, Mingo, Chark, Thielen, Marshall Jr. Most of those guys were the WR1 during his first two years! That is a crazy terrible list. Throw in the fact that XL has looked more like a typical Panthers 2nd round dud than a true 1st round pick like DJ Moore or even Tmac and you can easily see that the Panthers have not done a good enough job with surrounding Bryce with NFL talent at the skill positions That's not to say Bryce doesn't deserve his fair share of criticism. He absolutely does. He has a lot of terrible turnovers and makes some pretty bad throws/reads. I think he's limited in the short range, screen passes etc. And doesn't have good enough deep throw accuracy to keep defenses honest. We'll see what happens but if Bryce fails the Panthers front office definitely had a part to play

Considering he was listed as a full participant, I think he will be back pretty quick unless he has a setback like it bothering him tomorrow after todays practice or something.
-
They’ll activate him Saturday. Have seen this movie several times.

I wonder how much of it had to do with the hiring of Eric Eager as VP of Analytics. He came in May 2024 after Free Agency and the Draft but was a part of the last draft and Free Agency. For those that don’t remember, Eager was a Senior Data Analyst and VP of Research and Development at PFF. After that he was a VP with SumerSports where he had a big hand in creating NFL AI focused around roster optimization. -
He's still on the injured reserve list and needs to be activated. I have doubts they will do it this quickly. He practiced with the scout team today. They have 21 days to elevate him. https://www.panthers.com/team/players-roster/

I just turned on the TV and it was on ESPN2 and I've never seen stands so deserted. I think it's Missouri State and Middle Tennessee State. I don't think there's 50 people on the stands. There's literally way more people on each sideline than in the stands. There will be more people at my daughter's 4th grade soccer game tomorrow night. LOL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker is officially off injured reserve and was a full participant in practice Wednesday. The second-year wideout has yet to play this year after a quadriceps strain in late August. “He looks fast, he looks like Jalen,” head coach Dave Canales said.

Turn down the sound so I can hear the CC better. -
If we build up our linebacker group next offseason we can easily have a top 5 defense in the league
-
Hurney was also a major reason for the 2001 draft class as well. Still the teams best GM... Though yea that's not saying a whole lot

Define "short term".

Would've never happened if the BOT wasn't mad about Mack being fired and decided to go over Bubba's head to hire Bill. Reportedly some of the talks with Bill violated school rules as well.
-
Worth the short term hit to get him out of there.
-
Program is going to get hit and for a crappy year at that. School is investigating serious recruiting violations. Worst part is it could've been avoided but the school bot wanted to punish Bubba and hired Bill over his head, which is why Bubba is headed out the door. It's a joke and a mess from top to bottom.
