  1. Past hour
  2. No. They have cracked down on the first ballot stuff recently because of complaints from the old guys.
  3. That’s funny because… I didn’t see the game but there was a clip from Sunday of Rico completely blowing a block. So I am glad to hear the other side.
  4. The footwork is a huge deal, it seems clear that you aren’t gonna do much velocity jumping to throw or standing with both feet parallel to the LOS which is pretty much all arm no leg drive. The only chance he has, to be NFL good, is using great footwork and getting leverage from his base. When he doesn’t? He gets away with stuff, sure, but it is not going to get the job done in the long run, big picture, etc etc.
  5. They both ran the ball well, but I'm going to agree with giving Rico he slight edge - No stats, just the eyeball test. PLUS, I saw him blocking his ass off in the backfield several times, which always gives me warm fuzzies.
  6. A curse he shared with Chris Gamble, maybe the greatest cornerback to never make a pro bowl.
  7. @Icege There is a post in this exact thread making the statement he actually does have a rocket arm and is denying his shortcomings.
  8. He has been pretty focused on fixing a problem but it seems like it is just one big effort at the most glaring problem per season. They are building LOS first, I hope next year they focus on the second level. I would love to see him put his overkill stamp on ILB.
  9. You're just failing to cope with how atrocious this roster looks. How many players do we have that would be starting or getting significant PT on most other power conference teams? Hell, Jordan Shipp might be the whole list. And it's not because the cupboard was left bare. Belichick and crew used the portal to completely reshape the roster in their vision and much like his moves as GM with the Pats the result is trash.
  10. Also, obligatory Brycen Tremayne hype. Join the bandwagon today!
  11. That was my point. @LinvilleGorge was acting like there was some magic hire or recruit the administration or Belichick missed. Unreal how much coaches leading awful programs are making. Cal, Va Tech, Houston, Maryland, Virginia and many others are paying their coaches $5M+ a year.
  12. This team has a rich history of great linebackers. Is a high standard to hold anybody to. Take the fact, that the NFL has been prioritizing other positions over linebacker, adds to this also. The fact that our drafts have been offensive heavy for awhile now, also adds to it. As a fan of great defenses, I am definitely not satisfied with the trend that has been happening. While Morgan is a retired linebacker, it's not like he hasn't had other priorities in the 2 years he's been in control. We also lost a good starter from last season, that we weren't expecting to lose. Not making excuses, just observation. At this point, it is what it is for this season, whether we like it or not.
  13. Well I have never claimed anything he did was due to bad players on the other side. On the flip side, people defend him on the regular with saying it isn’t his fault because his teammates are bad. The coaching, the other players, tell me I am lying. Hmm. Edit I am going to caveat that first thing. I for sure claimed you could not use college as a direct comparison to the NFL, because the NFL is another level entirely. So it does discount the opposition, in that context. But once you have NFL results, no.
  14. It's amazing how they started getting more pressure when they used the young pass rushers more instead of the Vikings rethreads
  15. Seems a good opportunity to tell others not to give up on J Brooks just yet due to injury history.
  16. And he were truly an underdog late round guy I would have a totally easier time rooting for him. Everything he got then, would be earned through performance. But it wouldn’t change what he is as a QB, the same limitations would be in play. And I wouldn’t overlook them, if I were being clinical about it. It is still perform or take a seat.
  17. If you genuinely believe that more folks are denying Bryce's shortcomings (I don't think I've seen anybody claim that he has a rocket arm) and aren't able to acknowledge the regular attempts to explain away positive performances by chalking it up to the competition "just being bad" then I don't think we're going to be able to have any type of effective communication.
  18. I advocated for a wait and see approach again this year but yeah that was contingent on him immediately picking up were he left off last year.... He is who he is at this point.... he is a more turnover prone Teddy bridgewater, even when he plays "good" the offense is so boring its unwatchable
  19. Remember ‘vaporware’? That stat seems like vaporware to me. I looked it up yesterday and still don’t really understand it. It seems way to loosely defined, and really poorly named IMO.
  20. If he was a 3rd pick he would already be off the team or at least 2nd or 3rd string
  21. Actually I’ve got some stats about how big time his throws are. You could even call them…..Big Time Throws
  22. you mean like, if he completes a pass we say he didn’t? If he stands tall and steps into his throw knowing he will be hit but pays the price to make the play? I have seen him do that, once or twice. And complimented him for sacking up. I don’t understand why it is impossible to admit he has shortcomings. That his arm is not strong by NFL standards. It all is what it is,
  23. Q3 1:34 - 4th & 8 (CAR 31) CAR 20 - 0 What happens when your opponent is playing from behind with a young QB that's taken a few hits with a quarter of the game remaining? You force bad decisions or bad throws, though in the case of this play that would be an inclusive or rather than exclusive. With Pitts open and close to the first down, Penix opts instead to throw it to McCloud who's running a deep out. Not only does McCloud trip over Mike Jackson who is driving on the ball, the pass is also slightly behind McCloud which makes it even easier for Mike Jack to snatch it. They're going to kill Jackson in the film room for this return, though he did seem to take whatever ligaments were left in Penix's knee during it. mikejack1a.mp4 Q4 10:48 - Kickoff (CAR 35) CAR 27 - 0 The "special" exemption that was mentioned earlier! Not only did the rookie character drain all of his kicks (including a 57-yarder), but he also had the Falcons' kickoff return team in disarray. This play in particular shows how hard it is to be a return man in the NFL because let's be honest... who is predicting that bounce and bringing it back with 11 guys flying towards you? I don't want to jinx it but the Panthers just might have their next kicker! fitz1a.mp4 Q4 9:06 - 1st & 10 (ATL 38) CAR 27 - 0 The Falcons had turned to Kirkco and if there's one thing that Cousins is going to do when behind it's check it down. The Panthers show an even front with a two-high look that looks to end up being cover-4 with Moehrig assigned to the flat. Cousins goes to the checkdown per the usual and Moehrig is already there to smack Bijan and secure a -2yd TFL. After having issues in coverage the first two weeks, it was nice to see Tre'von bounce back with the third-highest PFF coverage grade behind only Mike Jackson and CSW. moehrig2b.mp4 moehrig2a.mp4 Q4 00:43 - 1st & 10 (CAR 43) CAR 30 - 0 ATL I told y'all we'd be seeing DJ Johnson again! The Panthers are in an over front and the play call from what I can tell looks to be the staple cover-3. DJ Johnson gets left unblock as the OL crashes down away from him to the right. DJ does the one thing he's been able to consistently do in the league: set the edge. When he sees Falcons' UDFA Nate Carter get the ball he hits the accelerator and tackles him behind the OL to allow just a 2yd gain. This would be Nate Carter's sixth run of the drive in a row and likely didn't feel too good afterwards... dj1a.mp4 Q4 00:37 - 2nd & 8 (CAR 41) CAR 30 - 0 ATL ...because when the Falcons dialed Carter up for the seventh-time in a row, he couldn't hold on to the rock. Lathan Ransom, the soon-to-be starting free safety, came in there and popped the ball out. What would have been a 9yd run resulted in a turnover on downs as Demani Richardson once again showed a penchant for being in the right place at the right time. The Falcons at this point were clearly playing to get one more field goal attempt before going home, but the gang tackling at the end caused that to be the end of the Falcons' last gasp. Also shout-outs to Corey Thornton for making an appearance and being right in the midst of the action as well. safeties1a.mp4 safeties1b.mp4
  24. Today
  25. Really impressed with the canes last night. I know they lost with the 4th string goalie in but through most of the game they looked like world beaters. Team is solid.
  26. I love watching the old games with Jake. He was the true leader of the offense, and players played better because hebwas on the field.
