Scot, I’ve watched his full games.. Since college. I’m aware of the perceived weaknesses and flaws. Yet, we have/had a front office full of paid football professionals who “full game” scouted Bryce Young and thought he was worthy of the #1 overall pick. We also have a faction of our fanbase that, even when presented with a better option at QB, choose to keep believing in Bryce Young despite the fact that even with his occasional Atlanta games, or how he played against the Rams, he is still the statistically worst starting QB in the NFL since he’s been at the helm. So, it can’t be based off play or scouting. So what is it based off of?

It happens when the best QB in the game's team sucks, another MVP caliber guy in Burrow misses most of the year, last year's ROY misses most of the year, etc. Everything in the game goes in waves. Right now defenses are largely focusing on a bend but don't break approach trying to limit big plays and bowing up in the redzone so offenses are adapting and focusing on trying to get the ball out fast and play small ball because those plays are largely going to be there as long as they can have a credible downfield threat.

I know people hated the BCS system but a lot of that was due to the limitation of only two teams. There are always going to be more than two teams that are capable of winning it all. But there has to be some sort of concrete system in place to rule out fugery. Just like the NFL playoffs. The winner of a bad division might have a worse record than a team missing a wildcard slot but it is what it is. Them's the rules. Nobody changed them and everyone knew what it was going in. It is what it is. There needs to be the same type of system for the college playoffs. But the reality is that ESPN has paid a ton of money and they want the drama. It drives viewership.

so yea... the um Saints.... how do we beat them this time?

I think we need to get a big play from Coker or T Mac in the first drive to scare their defense then pound the rock. -
I would rather see a return to the old way of doing it. Go back to pre-BCS days. It will not happen, but this has rapidly become a bunch of petty foolishness and a money-grab.

Find DeMario Davis and Cam Jordan every play and make sure 1 or 2 guys puts a hand on them. They might be old heads, but they're still very dangerous. -
I don't know how anyone isn't in the "fug ND" camp. So, now not only do these douchebags have their own personal board member on the 11 CFP board whike everyone else is represented by a conference representative, but now they have a special clause to protect only them? I mean, what in the fug??? It's beyond past time to tell ND to just go fug themselves. Your rep is off the CFP board and you can either join a conference or you can fug off. Your special status is over. We're not doing this poo anymore. If you want to be considered for the playoffs moving forward you can join a conference like everyone else.

Our qb room sucks enough as it is.

Supposedly they already came up with a new rule for ND because they cried so much: NY Post.

I think Deion's personality had a strong impact on Shedur's personality, although somewhat problematically, Deion was a supremely generational all time athlete at CB and Sheddur is mostly a solid pocket QB. I think Shedur is actually way more humble that Deion is/was, I just think whenever people catch him in a soundbite that makes him seem cocky they run with it to keep that narrative going for the haters to feast on. He's made it a point to at least seem a lot more humble since he's been drafted. No point in us trying to get him, only way it would've been feasible is if Stefanski kept his job into next year and Bryce had as abysmal of a season this year as he did his rookie season. Netiher are true/are going to be true imo. Maybe whoever doesn't draft Mendoza in 2026 draft might try to trade for him. Or the Browns could draft Mendoza and trade Sheddur.

Great...that means we shouldn't have to pay crazy money to a qb either.

That home game vs New Orleans will linger. The Superdome is a tough place to get a W….especially versus a heated division rival fighting for a playoff spot. I think the formula to win here is not beat ourselves. That means BY9 plays smart and is the calmer/confident Bryce. Same goes for Dave. If Chuba is the healthier hotter hand right now, ride him. Take what NO gives you and don’t force a square peg in a round hole. -

I'm sure they do. I sure as hell would. While I agree with the sentiment you need your guy at QB, my opinion on how to build has shifted. Personally, I think resources need to be spent on the offensive line, a solid WR1 with 2 interchangeable guys that can fill the WR2/3 role, and a guy with glue for hands. RBs can be had in later rounds or UDFA. Behind a solid line, those guys become better than their acquired cost. You can entice a FA QB or draft a QB that fits a system rather than spend years trying to build around one only to find out he isn't capable. -
I thought about that. Certainly could be a factor. Even if it's not a standout runner all the more recent qbs seem to run a little more than the classic pocket passers of 10 + years back

get creative with the offensive and defensive game plan, make adjustments. do what it takes to win. Even if they beat us last time, it's the Saints. -
10 years ago you didn't have rushing QB's like you have today. Jackson, Allen, Hurts, Nix, Williams, etc. Maybe part of the drop off is from QB's running it more often instead of attempting passes. Running QB's have changed the way the game is played and QB's are measured statistically.

Kiss of Death. Like a Zod preseason fullback endorsement -
I think Cleveland fans would revolt if that happened. I saw a stat somewhere about no browns QB throwing 3TD and running for a TD in their rookie season since Otto Graham in the 40s and 50s. He led the Browns to 7 championship wins and 10 consecutive championship games in the 1940s - 1950s I followed Colorado closely the past 2 years (23 and 24 seasons) , dude was always very good in terms of accuracy and ball placement. He still struggles with holding the ball too long and some bone headed turnovers/plays, but he can make some incredible passes when he gets the time. He consistently made stuff happen despite Colorado have an abysmal o line, his scrambling ability is underrated. I think the entire draft poo show, was due to his personality. I think his personality rubbed some people the wrong way and his drop in the draft had nothing to do with talent. He should've gone right after Cam Ward in R1 to maybe the Saints or Raiders, easily. Raiders in particular would look totally different with him instead of Jeanty or Geno

All the pre-draft stuff with his creating his own draft room for a million bucks and the narrative his dad wasn't letting him play for just any team in the NFL. It was a very bad image going in, and then it didn't help that guys like Kiper were just humping his leg day 2 and 3 about he was the best player in the draft and it was a travesty he wasn't drafted yet and he would be the best player in the draft and they would all regret it. It's also perpetuated on social media that he deserved to be starter because of what he did in college over anyone else on the team and on and on. Rage bait for clicks etc.

I was under the impression this is a one year prove it deal. He is in the top 10 in yards but even if he is mid for a contract, I'm not really interested. He is starting to slow down at the end of the year like he did in Dallas. -

I would bet anything the jags, cards, Miami and San fran would like to have those extensions back. I am positive they all view them as a huge mistake that cripples your team for the foreseeable future
