I am sure he will have one great(by his standards) game in this stretch and everyone from the ownership, FO and coaching staff will point to that as logic behind doing so and then starting talks on a contract extension. It would be the most Tepper Panthers outcome imaginable.
-
Yeah he actually played solid. People will get hung up on the total yards his YPA was good enough, he avoided some sacks and made some plays.
-
I jokingly have said all week that we would lose to them and then whip the poo out of the Seahawks because.....well why not? And, fug, we probably will. Darnold is falling apart and it would just make sense for this team to do something this infuriating. Probably after we lose to the Bucs next week too. They'll extend as many of these goofs as they can because we are "almost there" and the cycle will continue.
-
Bryce having some disastrous games leading to us swallowing the bitter pill to not pickup his 5th year option honestly feels like the best outcome down the stretch when looking at the long-term big picture.
-
At this point winning or losing isn't going to make much impact on our general area of the draft. As I have said for years now, draft position can keep you from making some mistakes(not all, see Young, Bryce) but having proper talent evaluation capabilities is our biggest problem. We have a knack for passing on big time talents for hubristic reaches or just incredible misjudgements.
-
Most likely he will be gone. Another team that has more talent on defense will definitely hire him. I get frustrated at a lot of Evero's playcalls also, but let's remember that we are rocking JAGs at like half the spots on our defense. The likes of Wharton, LaBryan Ray, Whitney Houston's ex-husband, whatever turd of the week ILB we have, etc. aren't going to be found on the rosters of the NFL defenses that people think are good... When you refuse to draft defensive players in the first 2 rounds for practically 5 years straight while spending most of your free agent money on offense, this is the talent you are stuck with on defense

Oh I think tet has plenty of top end speed. Hes a long strider so it takes a while to get going. i always thought he was a frisbee dog with an absurd physical makeup from what I saw from him in college. He’s not being used right in Carolina for any number of reasons. And Coker is baby boldin. He doesn’t have great top end speed but he always wins off the line and runs good routes. -
I would...as a DB coach. That ain't happnin' but I'd do it.
-
A good offseason would be a really solid start. I don't think there's just a single thing. Feels like we're better than last year, which is good, but not quite there yet.

7 Wins And STILL Gonna Finish Last in the Division

Yep, it's the reality of pro sports. If you're not gonna make the playoffs you're better off being as bad as possible. All that talk about morale victories and building a winning culture and we just continue to suck year after year. Not sucking enough is what led us to make that desperation trade up for Bryce. -

Depends on what 4th place teams you get. Having teams like the Vikings and Bengals be the 4th place teams you have to play isn't much better than the 2nd place alternatives IMO. Teams improve/get worse year-to-year, so I don't think schedule strength is that big of a deal, especially when injuries like Mahomes tearing his ACL happens. Chiefs will be a 4 win team next year if Mahomes doesn't play in 2026 -
Unpopular opinion - DC might be a bigger problem than Bryce

Still amazed he wasn't fired after last year. Announcers questioned yesterday why Derrick Brown was backed off in pass coverage on an important down. Likewise, he had guys playing way too far off the line (past the first down sticks) all too often. Expect he's gone next year either way. -

I'd be thrilled if we somehow finish last in the division - means we get a better draft pick since we aren't making the playoffs -

Possibly. You guys can bone the refs, blame Bryce, blame Evero but the biggest issue on this team is the non-existent pass rush -
Don’t we all? Lea has been very consistent in the criticisms of Evero and Young. He will, as will Cox, give credit when the coaching staff rises above expectations listening to Eugene Robinson, Szoki this morning 1 4th and inches. Needed to be a quicker play, like a dive play or sneak vs having Bryce turn a 180 to hand off. It was 4th and inches Or could bring in Andy for a sneak or the play I absolutely know, without any playbook knowledge, Canales never considers that or practices that 2 Eugene Robinson livid over lack of pressure calls by Evero and coverage calls and what did come, came too late I’ll tell you this, after the tongue lashing from Bowles, the Bucs will kick ass i really am sick of Canales Mr Rogers demeanor

You want to place all the blame on one guy because you don’t understand ball. Yeah we have money tied up in an offensive line that can’t pass block well, and wasn’t run blocking well yesterday. 2nd and 21 and Bryce threw the best pass this franchise has seen in easily 7 years for a touchdown -
Evero has his weaknesses, but it's hard to tell how much of it is him when we have a comically bad pass rush. Crazy enough, this is probably the most I have seen him blitz this year and I think it failed every single time. Usually our only chance at a sack is if DB beats the double team and gets interior pressure. Otherwise, the QB will have at least 5 seconds to throw the ball
