He paid through the nose to build a solid oline something that every QB needs -
Imagine how good this d-line can be if they give Brown some legit blue chippers. Our pass rush is still terrible while DB is being doubled in almost every down
-
Gotta admit, I didnt know Cooper Rush was still in the league.
-
Hopefully all for cause. Lots of talk about violations. Imagine cheating in the recruiting trail to assemble this mess of a roster. LOL I mean, Belichick cheating? No one could be surprised there. But damn, if you're gonna cheat at least do it in the process of building a winner. Don't cheat to build a dumpster fire. That can be done easily enough on the up and up.
-
maybe but they would have to fire the entire staff and front office, lot of money
-
At this point I just hope he's given them the ammo to go full Al Davis on Lane Kiffin and fire him for cause and not have to buy out his contract. That seems like by far the best bad outcome possible. If he had, I'd go to his agent and offer him a quarter of the buyout and be willing to go up to a third as an act of good faith and just to make this go away as quickly and quietly as possible but know that if you turn this down we'll see in court and we're going full scorched earth.

200 on the ground is tough to pull off. Good for him. -
I wonder if Bryce’s throws to Renfrow are similar to the looks AT was getting. Regrow isn’t a burner but I’d like to think he’s a bit shiftier and faster than Thielen. A lot of Young’s this seem to be behind him by a step or two. Rhat being said, I’d like to see Horn get more of those underneath and 3rd and 8 chainmoving catches

If you want my honest assessment I think Morgan is largely doing the bidding of the Tepper’s who are still meddling and guiding moves just as they were when Fitterer was GM. The fact that we have made absolutely no attempt to make any significant changes to the draft scouts in years and instead doubled down on analytics and hired a PFF guy basically confirms this. There's a reason no other legitimate GM candidates were seriously considering the Panthers. I like Dan Morgan. None of this changes my perception of him in Panthers lore. But there are realities that have to be recognized. He's done good things he's done not so good things. There's a lot we still need to see and there are still many football games left to play. All we can do is see what unfolds. -

The kid looks really solid. Not likely a superstar or anything but a really good football player. I’ll take that all day everyday. The roster needs guys like him all over. -
But what if you only look at the fourth quarter of the last game? #turningcorners

I see what youre saying but I also wonder about how it all fits it with the rest of the drafts he was a part of with Fitts, the team building strategies which appear similar, the trades or lack of, particularly Burns or other things in general. Thats the problem you run into when you promote staff instead of hiring from outside. You dont really know how involved they were in the god awful decisions of their predecessor. Fitts was probably one of the worst I have ever seen as a manager ever in any field. There are really no words for how bad he was. And Dan was his right hand. So how much of those decisions Dan signed off on or brought to table or disagreed with, who knows. This draft looks good at the moment. But I'm still no fan of how he's gone about spending resources to build this team as a GM. -
there are 3 options 1. Extend after year 3 and that keeps him here in theory for 5 years at big boy money 2. Pick up his 5th, keeping him here for 2 more at reasonable escalating salary (27 million for the 5th I believe or close to it) 3. Cut/trade him the rookie contract set up is great if the guy is good, its however a detriment if he is someone like bryce. You dont want to commit yourself for 2 more years at that cost if he cannot play but like I said all week after listening to the folks that cover the team it feels like the panthers have floated the idea out there.

The only one in this particular thread that is giving the vibe of being obsessed and bothered is the one following others around and going on diatribes about their posts. That's you. All you're doing here is trying to police discourse when nobody asked you to and giving the appearance of someone that is unwell. I hope that clears things up for you. -
Oh boy people will still be defending him
-
Well that is a tough. Needless to say I am a supporter but I am not unrealistic about his output so far. I would say that if he finishes the season on an upward trend, I would be open to looking into it. The thing is, I do not really understand how rookie contracts work. If you sign him to an extension, is it a large $$$ investment for two years or is it negotiable.

Sounds like things just got interesting at unc

It has nothing to do with Bryce. Going into the offseason we had options other than an ancient Andy Dalton and piss poor Plummer to look at. Dalton didnt look good other than one game against the worst defense in the NFL. We should have upgraded at backup QB, especially to a backup that fit our HC style of offense. That meant a gunslinger and there were several available to be had that were younger and better suited for DC's offense. Plummer was always a waste of time. Sometimes you find gems or maybe guys that can be serviceable for a game or 2 but you actually have to look for them. We didn't. We did nothing to improve our QB room and that has nothing to do with Bryce. We kept Bryce comfortable, but thats a different topic in and of itself. -

I think there is room for other interpretations of the inner working of the DM SF bromance. Yourself, being a man of character, work for your best friend. You might be close enough to speak your true opinion without repercussion. Stay with me. Dan was really good NFL MLB. How do you think a guy that played against Brady, Farvre, people like that, would view going against a 5’10” noodle arm that wasn’t a human joystick? I know I what I think about that. So he say to best bud, I don’t know about this. Looks risky. Best Bud says, your opinion is noted. What about that DT we are looking at? Dan was a defensive guy. Now I will stretch it further but I don’t need to. Fit says the Tepper’s are in love with the guy what do you want me to do? That isn’t even necessary it may be that Fit loved him too. There are multiple things that an open minded person might view as realistic scenarios. Just sayin. As far as the offensive overeating at the buffet, I really believe that was an edict from the boss: “do not let him fail. Know what I’m sayin?”. -
