I really, really think Dave is being forced to play Bryce. He yanked him way earlier last season for this exact same level of play. I also think the 3rd down run calls were making a point bc he has to play him.
-
I was thinking about the LB from Penn St we drafted a few years ago, I think under Rhule with some of these posts. And boy, I thought, Penn St? LB? Crazy high RAS? This dude is gonna be a problem. And he was straight trash.

New York Times: Is Panthers QB Bryce Young a Lost Cause
bandu replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
.why do the Panthers always seem to have such a difficult time properly evaluating talent ? if you have a player who has started since 23' & have amassed a mountain of film for reference & also see on a regular basis in practice.then yes most defenitely going into year 3 you should have a pretty good idea of what you have in a player .if not, then being an NFL GM might not be your actual cup of tea i cant help but think about other teams in similar situations like the Colts w/ AR & Daniels or the 49ers w/ Trey Lance & Brock Purdy yes Bryce Young is a bust & water is wet period.however , my main concern moving forward is your going to asks this same GM to either draft a Qb or sign one in FA or make another trade.i sure hope not ..just saying -

I mean, it's predictable. You have an owner who has churned through 7 head coaches in as many years and we look as bad as ever on the field. Seems like folks are going into self preservation mode without the realization that going at each other in the press is an absolutely fuging terrible look that will probably be considered regarding future roles when they inevitably end up getting fired. If I'm their agent I'm advising them to be aware of who they're working for. Any day in the office could be the day this guy throws a fit and rage fires you. Don't sabotage your future opportunities trying to salvage this one. -

the only thing he's elevated is our draft position -
Watch him go down the first series. Snake bit team. Zavala wasn’t looking too bad.

Someone poached US? Moving’ on up, to the east side….

He only seems to look good when he doesn’t play scared and the supporting cast is playing lights out. Which is too big of an ask at the NFL level. Individual matchups are won and lost every single play. #1 pick should be elevating the team -
With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....

Nah, I can't just dismiss based on "needs to meet X measurables." I wouldn't want to do that per se. -
Texans have signed offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston to their active roster from the Panthers practice squad.
-
I could just imagine the conversation with his agent... "Listen Dave (Tepper), you've been firing coaches left and right. There's a lot of hesitation out there in the coaching ranks that they're not gonna be given a fair shot here either in leeway or in the type of control that these roles generally entail within the organization. For my guy to seriously consider this job you're going to have to at least show long-term commitment in the contract. If you do what you've been doing and yank the rug after a year or two we need to be compensated for the damage done to my client's career track."

So much of football is about how quickly a player reads and reacts, especially on defense. You can run a 4.4 40, but if it takes you .15 seconds to process a play, you are far from special.
-
holy poo, I forgot about that LOL! Tepper had to give a guy that was getting no other HC consideration a 6 year contract to get him to fall on that grenade. Damn...
-
I guess I did miss that point. Or I wasn’t clear. What I was saying is I would exclude people that don’t fit within my prototypical box. Dismiss them just out of hand. I would rather screw up by passing on a unicorn than being stuck like we got stuck. The evaluation of those who do fit in the box should proceed as normal.
-
Well ultimately he knew full well what he was getting into with this lot here which is why he insisted on a 6 year contract.
-
Exactly. It's absolutely a super high stress job. I don't doubt that one bit. But our guys definitely seem to wear it way worse than the other guys. That tells you something. The only other guy right now that's comparable is Mike McDaniels down in Miami. That dude's wearing it this year.
-
Probably does have something to do with that. Lot of the scouting staff has been here since the Rhule hire.
-
Maybe he is just a drama queen living his best life
-
Per usual with Tepper's Panthers the entire approach feels wrong. Tepper wants in on all the stuff he should be seeing himself out of and then wants to be hands off on the stuff that he needs to be stepping in on.
-
Yeah, it’s mind blowing. Don’t get me wrong, the combine is fun. It’s cool to see guys put up these crazy, superhuman numbers, but honestly, the tape doesn’t lie. The times where the combine measurements meets the on-field production, that’s rare, and those guys are guaranteed stars. In my observations over the years, it seems there are a lot more guys who don’t measure the best or well at all, but they’re just damn good at football. NGL, it’s why I’m high in Scourton and Princely, bc they don’t have the craziest athletic measurements, but when you watch them, they have those innate football movements, and they look faster and stronger than combine measurements would indicate. ATP in my life, like I said, if I have to choose between on-field appearance and production versus crazy raw athletic scores with potential, give me the football player every time. Hopefully Dan has learned this now.

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
Panthers Fan 69 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let’s be real. The panthers have only had one QB they drafted that worked out. Cam. Collin’s was a drunk that worked 5 years later with a couple teams. 1 QB in 30 years. What makes everyone think whoever they draft is gonna work? Canales is a beta male who shows zero back bone and leadership. -
It is wild how soft and accommodating Charlotte media is on the Panthers. If this poo show was happening on a city with a real sports press it would be absolutely knives out and it would've been for years.
-
If Dave had any managers abilities he would be doing some form of that yesterday before they started cutting guys to force hands. I guess at least something is entertaining with Panthers football this year now.
-
Implying there's any light at the end of that tunnel for us.
-
It would be nice if we had beat writers who were good at their jobs and not just regurgitating whatever the team said. ...Instead we have David Newton.
