Yup. Hopefully Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.

The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome. And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.

25-26 NHL Regular Season Thread

Yep! Tampa is out of the race and so is Montreal. Need the Sabres to lose one of their next two or the canes to go to OT and or win. -
Let me have my moment kind sir…..

An Offensive Tackle for the Long Term, but....
strato replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am seeing a lot of movement in the mocks and it looks like people are getting slotted and re-slotted. The mocks are starting to settle in to a consensus. -
We need a short yardage guy agreed. It isn’t just the because of the QB but it isn’t not him either. There are things you normally can expect from the QB that we don’t really ask Bryce to do. But we really do need a guy to pound.

Allowing 23 shots on goal, a lot of grade A's and Utah spending almost the entirety of the 2nd period in their offensive zone is nothing to write home about. Freddie had an outstanding afternoon, but the Canes were only 1 shot from being in a tie game for nearly 35 minutes.

But I must agree with others J Rod won't be available at 51 and require a jump top of second minimum. -
Draft intel from ESPN’s Jordan Reid

Right! the defense is stacked and literally one LB away from being one of the best defenses in the league. The talent is there and Im a firm believer that you build in the trenches. I believe the best way you help Bryce out is giving him time and that means get a OT. -
Yet you want a WR of which only Tate is projected as a year 1 starter. The WR in our range are depth.

An Offensive Tackle for the Long Term, but....
SmokinwithWilly replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
We need a tackle but we need to take one that we think can be what we need after a year of development. If that player isn't available at a particular early draft spot, don't reach. Take the stronger positional value instead. We have multiple needs across this team. I think we could address the position in the draft but only if we address it wisely. Don't take one just to take one. If we don't take a tackle, at least take a center. We don't need to leave the draft with at least 1 offensive lineman. I'd prefer 2. Starting caliber center and a tackle that can at least be a RT, and possibly a left. We need to get this offensive line back to a more even place of rookie contracts with veteran contracts to get the cap spending under control. -
It would take next years 2nd or maybe this years 3rd to move that far
-
Perspective is EVERYTHING. Having a RB that is great at short yardage is fantastic. Most teams will choose not to risk the QB if they dont need to. Cam, Allen are outliers. They aren't the norm.

I appreciate the honesty in your posts--I am not sure Canales is rusing(?) because I don't think we are good enough yet to draft players for depth on day 1. I do think we are in limbo, fwiw. At 19, I think you are drafting second rounders in the first.

It is time to Consider the Likelihood of WR at #19
strato replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
We are in a unique situation here. Just my opinion. Three things: Moton’s playing health has been gradually declining as he is aging, while his contract is a drag on the payroll. Something will give with him sooner than later but I think 2026 could be it. So.. need a right tackle by 2027. At the latest. Icky’s individual situation is unique as well. They would have had an extension done by now if not for the injury. We only have him for this year. With no assurance he will ever be the same player. It would be reckless just to assume. Now we have Walker for one year. And that is a major relief. Maybe he is the answer, but the team that knows him best let him go and it was cheap for us to sign him. So how much did they value him? We look to be needing two tackles by 2027. And have poo for depth this year as well. So anyway we could draft a guy for 2027 RT and groom him this year, and see how Icky does, and act as needed in 2027. Spread out filling the two holes over 2 years. Then I remember, hey if Bryce doesn’t get a Lot more consistent do they extend him? Hoping not, if he isn’t really good. So then we are looking at the 2027 draft which people say is gonna be loaded with QBs. If we need a LT and a QB what is the pick gonna get spent on? Taking into account the recovery success rates cited here on the Icky surgery, you might want to plan for him to not be the same player. rather than assume he will be and get caught with your pants down. It is a tough situation. And factor in that it is critically important to protect this QB, always, but especially this year where it is said to be make or break. And how you might feel about that. All of it points to a real possibility that these things converge in the negative, like Bruce sucks and Icky is not the same. In that case if you want to be assured of getting LT secured, the only place you can do that through the draft could be very well be 2026 1st round. For me, I would like to err on the side of caution. Cover for these outcomes. It wouldn’t be fun. Added benefit is if we do have a tackle go down this year we will have a guy there. Because I don’t know what we have now. -
I agree. In a perfect world I wouldn’t want to draft another WR, but in this draft it’s fine based on the value of who will be there at #19. All of the top tier guys worth pick #19 at other positions of need will be long gone. Only exception is Dillon Thieneman, but he’s almost a shoe in for the Vikings as the Harrison Smith replacement. Some posters on here want to draft an OT just to check a box without realizing the concerns and risk that comes along with said player. Sounds like XL to me… desperately drafting need… KC is a pretty safe player. Produced all 3 years in college and last year in the SEC vs a lot of top corners in this years draft. He single handily dropped the South Carolina CB Brandon Cisse’s draft stock with how bad he abused him. Sometimes it’s best to try and hit a double instead of going for the home run. This draft screams “go for the double”. Esp in the first.

KC Conception rankings : PFF: #35 Dane Brugler: #21 Matt Miller: #34 Daniel Jeremiah: #29 Eric Edholm: #21 The more I see of him, the more I like him. Conception will be there when we pick @19, but the real question for the front office is whether they value him more than the top OT, CB, or safety options. TE Kenyon Sadiq will likely be gone before their pick, and there isn’t a DT worth taking at 19.

It is time to Consider the Likelihood of WR at #19
flagfootballcoach28 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
So you’re ok having a rookie LT ride the bench? I’d rather just wait and see how Walker plays and how Icky progresses. Icky would most likely sign a 1 year “prove it” deal in 2027. Drafting a safety or WR in the late first is not the worst decision in this particular draft. -

Nothing guarantees any of these WR will not be a bust just the same. When in doubt go lineman. -

It’s easier said than done. Especially vs bigger, stronger men. I’m sure Utah’s weight training program was no joke.. Some guys just never get to that strength level no matter how hard they hit the weights. If we draft him though, I hope he does develop his strength. I’d just rather wait till next year to draft an OT. With our tough schedule, it might be a possibility to get a blue chip OT talent. Not a late first. -

I'm not a stan, but I really like Caleb Lomu. The ONLY knock on him is he needs to improve core strength. An NFL weight room and regimen will improve that in no time. He has the best feet, hands, balance, and recovery of any tackle in the class, imo.
