Panthers have the 3rd leading rusher in NFL
Chaos replied to Pantherxtreme's topic in Carolina Panthers
Canales trying to make things fair and even to keep the RB’s happy speaks to the type of coach he is. He’s known as a player’s coach and I guess his goal is to be liked by the players. That being said, I think the best coaches play who is performing the best regardless, and there shouldn’t be any guarantee that injury won’t prevent you from losing your starting job. -
Great game by XL and he's going to have opportunities with TMac getting a lot of attention from defenses.
-
I think it is very important that he continues to make plays. Teams are putting their best corner on T-Mac and this leave XL the opportunity to excel. I am super happy he had a great game yesterday. Hopefully, he can live up to his high draft pick.

No, it's actually right. I looked it up on PFR. Since week 8 at Denver last year: 26 TDs passing, 6 TDs rushing (32 total TDs) 11 INTs, 5 lost fumbles (16 total turnovers). When you factor in the record and the yardage, he's a respectable game manager. Whether he was acquired for that or not is irrelevant 2.5 years later. He is what he is. Dude is not gonna be the franchise QB people thought he'd be, but he's also not one of the worst QBs who ever played an NFL snap like others think. As bad as people think he is, you could -- statistically speaking -- do far worse (look at guys who've started here, like PJ Walker, Will Grier, Randy Fasani, Taylor Heinicke, Frank Reich for that matter). That's the scary part.

Chuba is a key leader on this team and he needs to give Chuba an opportunity to keep the starting job and this is the right way to handle this. We can all see that Rico is a better back at the moment and he's going to win the starting job, but he needs to win if fair and square with both backs battling it out and not when a guy is injured. Two backs going 110% to be the starter is a good thing. -
I wouldn't release Bryce. Just throw a late round pick out and see what a different QB can do. It's low risk/high reward.
-
I'd love to get Howell, but I don't think the Eagles will trade him. The year he was with the Commanders wasn't bad considering their offensive line was crap. I know many don't like him i just think he would be better and anyone we could get. Winston is a pick machine and I'm not overly excited about getting him but Dalton is done. He's immobile and seemed very undecided on his throws. We were fortunate enough to get through yesterday's game without a L.
-
Playing other bad teams helps a lot but true. Does it really surprise you the coach sticking with Bryce with zero competition in year 3 would go away from the hot hand RB? Some RBs need rhythm and others seem ready to go when called. I think it comes back to playcalling and coaching which is just meh here

Yep. You can't afford to pay non-elite QBs elite QB money and there's always about 20 guys in the NFL making elite QB money. That's at least 10 too many. I'll always argue that you're better off needing a QB than you are to be cap handcuffed by an average starter. Truth be told, I think the Niners are learning that in real time right now. Purdy goes down and Mac Jones comes in and they haven't missed a beat. That's because they're honestly about the same tier of player, Purdy just got to enjoy an ideal situation from the word go. If Jones had landed in Purdy's situation he'd probably be Purdy and vice versa. You can't back up the Brinks truck for that.
-
I don’t think we were watching the same game. Dalton’s passes weren’t on target either. Especially the 30 yard one that gave XL one third of his yards. The one he had to stop and come back for. XL just got more targets because Sauce was on TMac.

A starving dog is thankful for table scraps too. Yes, the winning streak is nice, but going from bottom dwellers to mediocre still isn't the long term solution. Enjoy the now, but don't lose sight of the future. Some of us know this is not a model that can sustain us forever nor deliver us a championship. Teams will eventually lock down our rushing attack. Our defense will lapse periodically. There will be a time where we need a QB to play 'hero ball'. We don't have that type of QB on this roster.

Panthers have the 3rd leading rusher in NFL

He came off the bench he should have been in the game from the start, he was coming off a historic 2 game run you ride that momentum and see what happens. That rotating series b.s is just cute it's not how football is played and won. Chuba can spell Rico but why force 50-50 split when the production isnt split? -

Canales keeps trying to talk about execution and went out his way to say Chubba sprung 1 but he also put us in 2nd and 9 way often. Rico had us ahead of the sticks more often if they going by analytics. Rico sets the tone... then let Chubba come in and get yardage off a wore down defense. It dont got to be harder than he making it. Chubba is a Captain and a real captain knows when to step aside while someone is hot. -
Yea Rico.... ride the hot hand.
-
I’m not sure Canales can grasp the simplicity of this.

I'm a proponent of riding the hot hand. Rico is clearly the hot hand right now. That could change over the course of the season and Chuba could get hot and we ride him. But either way give the guy who is producing the majority of the touches. -

Rico Dowdle had 18 touches on Sunday, which is still a lot. For comparison, he had 26 in the Miami game and 34 in the Dallas game, and he was getting so many touches in the last one he was cramping hard. I'm by no means against giving him more touches than Chuba, he's earned it, but it's not like we didn't use him. 17 carries is as many as we gave Chuba when he started in the Atlanta game. -
He got WAY too cute yesterday. First of all, you start Dowdle and stop with this rotating BS. Sorry Chuba, RBs are a dime a dozen, so go with the guy that's had a historic 3 game stretch. Neither RB can get in a rhythm when you switch them every other series.
-
As long as Canales understands that Dowdle is the “hot hand” at RB and feeds him the rock, with Chuba spelling him, we’ll be in it. if Dave forces Hubbard to split it 50-50, I might throw my remote through the tv. Andy just needs to manage the game & not take sacks/throw INTs.

my god. im as negative of a fan as you will find, but this team is over .500 for the first time in 4 years. its been absolulely brutal being a fan of this franchise since 2019. is this really the time to complain about the quarterback and bash them for not having this figured out months ago? there is not a sane person in the wolrd who would have moved on from bryce after how he finished last steason going into his 3rd season. maybe it is just me, but ill go enjoy the 3 game winning streak.
