  1. Past hour
  2. People are going to grab him and push him and make it look like he did something. But if they don’t and he gets it in space it’ll be fun to watch.
  3. Given Penix age and injury history, if he starts in year 3 and kills it, there's no way his agent lets him show up to camp the next year without a new contract. Because if that happens, it will mean the Falcons dumped Cousins to roll with Penix and they'll know they can't risk then screwing that up. Penix would have all the leverage in the world and the Falcons would have no choice but to fold and give him the deal.
  4. Yeah I noticed that too. Looked like a lot of underthrown or off target throws on a lot of those to me
  5. Yeah, banking on his hands, vertical, height etc. Thing is we have a processor with an average arm, not a gunslinger so he might not even get those 50/50's to even show what he can do. XL has some of the same BY issues, if he doesn't get some 50/50 throws his way he's going to be stuck catching a lot of expected shallow crossers aka dinks and dunks
  6. Really like him. He will be great for Bryce. I hope he doesn't get a lot of push off calls as he did that on some of those catches.
  7. Everyone talks about how important it is to draft a QB in round 1 and have the "5th year option" I haven't seen it play out the well over the past several years. The good/great QB' aren't playing the first 5 years under their original deal. After year 3 or 4 they are getting mammoth extensions. Having Penix take over in year 3 may actually save the Falcons some money over the next 5 seasons. I doubt they'd give him an extension after his first year as a starter if he took over the starting position after the guaranteed portion of Kurt Cousins new deal ends in 2025. In terms of playing time, Penix 3 years as a starter would be ending with the 5th year of his rookie deal (assuming his option was picked up). The money Penix would be making in year 5 of a rookie contract would be significantly less than the upper echelon 5 year starters are making now.
  8. I mean you can see it in his highlights - he has CBs from Yale and Colgate in his hip pocket. Yes he's making contested catches and moving the chains, but those aren't even P4 CBs and he's struggling to separate.
  9. Working for a season under Adam Thielen (another undrafted WR) should be a positive factor. Some of these issues are correctable. Many kids from small schools not only lack experience against DI schools, they lack the coaching that develops talent.
  10. I’ll say this. Being an affiliate with Chicago should allow us to continue getting our prospects signed. These young kids like to play in big cities and they’ll arguably be playing in front of the best crowd in the AHL. I have a lot of respect for the Wolves fans but fug their owner.
  11. Financial issues, Checkers wanted money, Canes didn’t want to give it to them.
  12. I still don’t understand why the Checkers didn’t work out. It seemed like a no-brainer. I used to love going to the games in Charlotte and watching our prospects, but I haven’t been since the affiliation change.
  13. Today
  14. Very true. I think (don’t hold me to the exact stat) that only 10% of draft picks end up being considered upgrades/legitimate help for a team. If that stat holds true 90% of the time the pessimist has an argument that he/she is right. That usually comes in the form of “I told you so” That said, I applaud anyone coming in here trying to be optimistic even when/if I think they may be a bit unrealistic. I think that is a facet of fandom.
  15. He has until we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs next season. After that point all bets are off.
  16. I’d rather Tom start a AHL team in NC/SC but Chicago is the safer $$$ bet.
  17. Figured Chicago was going to come crawling back. fug’em though.
  18. Right, D Johnson, Thielen, and XL/WR3 with new guards and TE should be close to a wash. Add in BY being the #1 overall draft pick, better than Teddy in 2020 shouldn't be too much to ask for.

  20. Yeah... Teddy had real weapons when he was in Carolina. DJ, Robbie and Curtis Samuel are legit weapons. Throw in CMC as a receiving back and that was an obvious underperformance.
  21. I'd say one of those relatively short ~5-6' ones with some buoyancy in the thread so he doesn't hurt his neck.
  22. Well he was projected 5th/6th by most profiles I read. Most had these same weaknesses, slow vertical speed, no NFL competition, whatever. He had the same 40 and 20/10 splits as Antonio Brown, 3" more height and like 10" more vertical. It's mostly going to come down to the level of competition he faced and if he can get decent separation SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES Lacks explosive separation quickness and deep speed, often requires contested catches due to close coverage. Performance against higher caliber defenses remains a significant unknown, potentially impacting transition to the NFL. Subpar after-the-catch dynamics, with limited elusiveness and downfield acceleration affecting YAC potential. May struggle to step up his game - especially after playing at a lower level of compeition Initial stiffness in press situations could be exploited by physical NFL cornerbacks, necessitating refined footwork and release strategy.
  23. 7.5 sacks. Lightning fast. Hmmmm. Nickname: The Jet. Can play many positions on the defensive front-probably best as a pass rusher. Interesting...
  24. I was going to say 2020 Teddy numbers as the floor, since that wasn't good enough for Tepper/Rhule/whoever decided to go on that fuging qb carousel. If TB played all 17 games it would have been right about what you listed. 7.6 yards per attempt, up from BY's season 1 5.5.
  25. Good question--good athlete, good hands. Everyone knew he was getting the ball and his qb was not good. Good routes, high character. The only answer I can come up with--small school--but we had a first round CB from Toledo. He can even get off against press coverage. Hands are great. Even catches contested balls (see Buffalo game). His only criticism is that they do not see elite vertical speed and there is a "lack of suddenness" . Some feel his YACs will be limited. Beyond that, I have no idea.
