Odd.

Holy crap!!!!!!!!

Welp I was saying we were going to take Mingo. There it is. I knew Fitt would do that.
-
Mingo like I thought.

If I am a Detriot fan looking at this draft I am not happy.
-
HAHAHAH Detriot!!!!

There is something about college football in that a lot of colleges take track stars, put them at WR, and then just count on the opposing DBs being mediocre. Or the DBs blowing their assignments, busted coverage, ect. I think that makes it even harder to figure out some of the middle of the pack WRs.

I like Hyatt and I would take him at the 39th pick, but I think the Panthers think he is risky. I think the scouts are worried because he didn't do much his freshman and sophomore years, and only his junior year did he make a splash. That means less tape to evaluate him, which I think might make the scouts think he's risky. Also we know he can run vertical routes and get open. That is not in question. But we need him to run slants especially, and crossing stuff, and what all can he do? And against big NFL DBs. Well I think it might be harder to evaluate him for the scouts, so that is why I think the Panthers think there is more risk. I like him. Give him an end around, let him use his speed. Hell let him return punts and kick offs. Send him on vertical routes to teams from moving their defense up to stop our running game.

For newer Panthers fans, many years ago Rivera and pill popping Payton go into a trench building battle. RR went out and built up our d-line, and for one season we were able to get a great push into the interior Saint's pocket. It was so effective that Brees actually looked terrible. The Saints responded by building up the interior of their o-line, neutralizing our pass rush. We got our asses handed to us after that.
-
Yeah you know they are thinking about getting an interior push to move Young off his spot like we used to do with Brees many years ago.
-
We'll get the guy you want so long as you're helmet is facing toward BOA.
-
Yeah Washington is the "He-Man" type TE for those 80's kids on this forum. He's filled out and built to mixed it up out there. Some of the other TEs are kind of "pretty boys" or whatever. Like they run well, but rough them up and what happens? Wahsington does the roughing up.

I was speculating about Drew Sanders. Everything I wrote was just my opinion. With Drew he's on the smaller side of what I would want at OLB, and on the bigger side of what I would want at ILB. So I call him a tweener. BJ to me is a better fit at OLB because of the extra weight, if it's 13 pounds or 20 pounds, somewhere in between that helps. Mingo is a guy we know the Panthers were showing interest in a few weeks ago or whenever. We also know Fitt mentioned a trade down. A good prediction would be trading down and grabbing Mingo. Hyatt runs a 4.4 40 yard dash. DCs would worry about that, and they should. Unfortunately he's only 6' 176 pounds, so will he get bullied some by DB? Not sure, but I looked at some of his route running and it looked good, and you can't teach pure blazing speed. I like him, but I think Fitt likes Mingo, and Fitt is the pro. Yeah BJ > Branch.
-
Yeah Washington is a man's man. He looks like he's already been through an NFL strength and conditioning program. He's tall but powerful and rugged. Hes ready to get out there and mix it up and not be over powered and roughed up.
-
One TE I like in the 4th round is Kuntz. He's not going to come in and play right away, but give him a season of weight room training and next season I think he could be in the starting lineup.
-
Let me look at Hurst contract. Hayden Hurst signed a 3 year, $21,750,000 contract with the Carolina Panthers. Yeah he's our main guy for a while. I'll stick with the TE trade bait prediction. I wouldn't hate taking a TE, but I don't see the Panthers doing it.
-
Never mind I'm thinking of a different guy with the arm length issue. Yes I get your sarcasm.
-
BJ is the target imo. Derek Hall is not a target at 39 as a think that would be a reach. Panthers are not interested in Drew Sanders they want a bigger OLB and he is a tweener, between ILB and OLB situatuional. It's BJ or none of those edge guys. BJ is 20 pounds heavier than Sanders keep in mind. I don't think we do CB this high because it's not seen as a major need by Fitt imo. Sam thing with o-line, not this high but later. TE will be the trade bait for us to trade down. We're not taking a TE this high imo. We already have a good veteran TE who will not be displaced, and two veteran backups. Trade bait imo. WR is highly likely to be taken at 39 or after a trade down imo. I want Jalin Hyatt, but I think the Panthers think he's risky for a lot of reasons. I'd take Hyatt, but the Panthers were sniffing around Mingo. I think they want to trade down and take Jonathan Mingo. Brain branch is the wildcard. I don't know what our DC will think if Brain is there at 39 because I don't know how he likes to play his 3-4. Some have mentioned Trenton Simpson. No. He's too similar to Jeremy Chinn. Round 2 what the Panthers will do: BJ, or if he's gone trade down with TE as bait. Pick up WR Mingo. What I would do. BJ or trade down and get WR Hyatt.
-
I don't think the Panthers are taking a TE at 39. Basically Fitt is planning to move up for BJ, or down if he goes too quickly off the board. We really need to land BJ.
-
If B.J is there then he is the pick imo. If he is gone then I really see a trade down with the TEs as bait. A team moves up to take a TE, and we move down to look at: Joey Porter Jonathan Mingo Jaylin Hyatt
-
Imo Panthers will want: BJ Ojulari If he is gone, then a trade down. Joey Porter Jonathan Mingo Jaylin Hyatt A lot of these other players are not good value. No wonder Fitt was talking about a trade down.
-
Well Fitt is headed to bed so we have no say if they snap up Nolan. j/k
-
I stepped away for a bit. Nolan Smith is still on the board right?
