He’s gotten better every year. He doesn’t complain. His motor is nonstop. if we reset the DL market he’d probably be worth it. The same can’t be said for burns. some people earn their money. Some expect it.

I saw the videos today. Panthers still getting crushed in the media because it’s low hanging fruit. personally I think we are on the right track. Every move we have made has logic. Brian burns hurts but I think it was a dead end and we got what we could. Blame the old regime. my question is, what would it take you based on what has happened in the past 3 days for you to be genuinely excited for next year? I think all of our expectations are tempered appropriately so I’m not thinking Super Bowl. But what will it take for this team to be fun to watch again, and knock on wood maybe even fight for a division title or wild card spot. for me, if we can land 2 starter caliber DEs (preferably Clowney) and a legit safety (Justin Simmons) then I’m sold on FA. Then as far as the draft goes, best WR and best center for our 2nd rounders followed by BPA the rest of the draft.

I don’t know if any of our moves will make us more fun… they are all bolstering less than premium positions. but what they are doing is making a better football team. even the wide receiver we traded for isn’t exactly a game changer. I think he went 18 games without a touchdown being the Steelers #1 receiver. and I’m completely fine with all of that. The fun will come when Bryce silences his critics

Trading down for value seems like the right choice with our current roster. however, this trade shouldn’t happen until the end of day1 of the draft. See how things play out and we then have a full night to look at our board. If the board falls favorable, make the trade. If it doesn’t, stick where you are and pull the trigger. We need to guarantee getting 2 starters from the second round. How that happens I’ll leave it up to them.

Justin Simmons would be an upgrade and perfect for the system. Not sure if money works but don’t know why we’d do this if there wasn’t a plan already in place… he was more than serviceable last year
-
Agreed he either needs to be paid or tagged and traded. The comment was a huge red flag on his effort. I don’t completely blame him but basically admitting you weren’t giving it your all doesn’t help anyone. Can’t deal with another year of that.

Josina Anderson thoughts on the Burns situation
Adb6368 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Isn’t Josina the one that just guaranteed belicheck was going to be atlantas next head coach? She seems to be well sourced -
@Verge everyone and their mother has the panthers picking a WR. Any thoughts/insights on what would be the pick if we end up deciding that WR isn’t a good value at our first pick?

Locked on Panthers: Why the Panthers should pay Derrick Brown
Adb6368 replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Many reasons to sign him. However, first and foremost, he deserves to get paid because he is not Isaiah Simmons. maybe the only smart decision we’ve made in the draft in the past 4 years. -
Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.
Adb6368 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dj moore was our bust insurance. Instead of giving a 3rd first rounder we gave a player up. If Bryce stinks again we are picking at the top of the draft next year and can try again at drafting our qb. -
Just 1 factor of about 40 that led to our team being undoubtedly the worst in the league. everything needs fixing. The only way to do that is to start chipping away. a GM that can actually draft nfl caliber players is priority #1. A coach that can actually use these players is #2. after that, say a prayer.

From Athletic joe person on Fitterer and GM candidates

What does Joe’s athleticism have anything to do with this?? -
Tepper being “incredibly accountable” behind the scenes
Adb6368 replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The hornets and panthers did the exact same thing on their last coaching search. They lost out on who they wanted then panicked and hired someone safe. if tepper throws the bag at his first choice and doesn’t have to settle for his second, maybe it worked this time. Or maybe he hires matt Rhule again. If it was easy so many people wouldn’t fail at it. the blueprint he wants seems clear and based on learning from past mistakes. Offensive minded with nfl experience. -
Chubba seems decisive and accelerates through the hole. every time miles sanders gets the ball all I see is someone trying to juke a defender that’s not even there and never gets going, making it easy to be tackled the second he gets hit.

NFL Insider Mike Sando asks what Tepper has learned
Adb6368 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The world needs more ditch diggers. not everyone can be the boss. You need defined roles and individuals willing to excel in that role. It is obvious we had a bunch of egos all looking out for themselves and not enough team first personnel. I blame tepper for this and not Frank. And I don’t think Reich had the personality to realign once things started spinning out of control. seems like a pretty easy lesson to learn. Hopefully tepper can see the writing on the wall that’s staring him in the face. -
An actual compliment for Bryce Young... the kid can take a hit
Adb6368 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Joking aside this does give me hope. His durability was a HUGE question coming into the season and he passed that test with flying colors. im holding out hope that his issues are 100% coaching and if we find someone to teach him how to be an nfl qb he can become a field general. his arm strength looks horrible. But someone that knows exactly where to go with the ball can be fine without having a cannon. -
Not sure id want to go back and change anything because we won, but theilen did drop a TD which would have helped make Bryce’s day a bit better. On the other end, he overthrew another long pass attempt. Same narrative of the year, Bryce misses some plays he should make, but even when he does make them our receivers let him down. happy for the win. We wanted to see progress and considering the circumstances I think some progress was made.

I can’t believe no one wants bill belicheck after our last 2 coaches. Everyone thinks finding the next hotshot is simple. If he wanted to come here (unlikely) we should gladly welcome him.
-
I completely agree. And that does make me nervous. However a hand full of those players were lazy, some had no interest in football, and others were a mental midget. I don’t think Bryce is any of those things. My biggest worry is the mental midget part and him losing confidence a la Zack Wilson (Bryce is 10x the prospect Wilson was). I truthfully believe he’ll figure it out. I could be dead wrong. That’s why it’s a game. But I’ve watched enough of the good (in college) to think the skills are in there somewhere, we just need the right people to bring it out.
-
I would tend to agree but we’ve gotten to the point of people now saying he’s bad at press conferences and fidgets too much. Seems to me like he’s taking accountability although he may not have the answers right now. I think the hate has just gone over the top and people are looking for anything to pile on instead of seeing any positives. I guess that’s what 6 years of failure will do to a fan base.

My take would be hes scared shitless because he has no faith in this wr corp or OL. He’s bailing to early and when he does throw a catchable ball the WR inexplicably dives out out bounds or lets it go through their hands. He’s making a lot of mistakes and I hope (and think) it’s because he’s currently shook. If he gets better protection and consistently doesn’t have to fear for his life the plays will slow down and his play will speak for itself
