  1. It's so far into the mock draft season they starting to be silly. I see no scenerio Slater or Sewell makes it past us.
  2. Left tackles are a rare evasive beast. Many will end up either a guard or restricted to the right side. In my opinion the breakdown of tackles goes like this. Sewell - Oregon has been putting out some quality lineman recently. Sewell is the best yet. Certain Left Darrisaw - Has the quickness to pass protect. Moves well but needs to improve pulling and runblocking. Possible Left Liam Eichenberg - technique, quickness, and projects well to the left. Certain Left Samuel Cosmi - Has the agilty and mirrors well. Underrated guy that can stick at left. Then you got the maulers who are a bit bigger, some exceptionally so. Teven, Mayfield, and Lucas are nasty physical blockers that are either raw or lack the explosive quickness to stick on the left. Spencer Brown and Drew Himmelman are giants even compared to other large men but leverage can work against them.
  3. Continuation of post finishing the draft. 113. Kary Vincent Jr. / Tyler Shelvin 151. Marquez Stevenson / Simi Femoko 193. Robert Jones / Ladarius Hutcherson 222. Noah Grey / Quintin Morris
  4. Shades of DJ Metcalf. Unicorn athlete. We are trying to bring in a bigger WR. Strachon, Jacob Harris, and Simi could be that guy. Another sleeper is Racy McMath out of LSU. 6'2" 224 pounds with ties to Brady.
  5. I agree with ya. Shaq is who he is. A decent veteran player that will be better with better talent around him. Losing Luke and Davis forced him into a unfair position. Zach Collins is one of my favorites of the draft. Old school thumper with new school coverage ability.
  6. I'm buying in. I'm optimistic about Sam. I trust us to have another solid draft. 11-6. Wild card and ruin somebody's day once we get there.
  7. I disagree. My vote is Jackson Carman. Dude is huge 6'5" 330 pounds, kept Trevor Lawrence upright, and has more experience than Jenkins. Guy is getting no hype, so I'm gonna pound the table for him.
  8. Preseason depth chart and position labels mean nothing right now in regard to special players like Chinn. I for one see linebacker Corp as a decent group. Reddick, Perryman and Shaq backed up by Carter Jr, Luvu, Mack and Miller is solid. I think safety will be a more likely use of a higher draft pick. Burris and Franklin as back ups for Chinn and Grant, sign me up for that pairing. I do think they could add a linebacker ( KJ Britt or Ernest Jones) for special teams and to develop. Jabril Cox, Bolton, Moses or Pete Werner would all be great additions earlier but Perryman should be what we thought we were getting with Whitehead and more.
  9. Ok. Here it goes. Trade down with Chargers for 13 and 47. Got two plans. 13. Horn / Darrisaw 39. Grant / Stokes 47. Leatherwood / Cisco 73. Trey Hill / Dickerson If we stay at 8. I hope Slater or Sewell is there. Then take a corner at 39. Farley or Newsome. Then at 73. A linebacker like Bolt or Moses.
  10. Don't worry bout it. I won't poo ya for that.
  11. Either Sewell or Horn. I honestly think Horn will end up the best corner. If Sewell is gone I could see Darrisaw.
  12. I think it's more like WHEN Sewell is drafted before 8. The chance he slips to us is low. If he does we run to the podium and consider it a draft day miracle.
  13. Yeah, Walker is a borderline top 10 talent at tackle imo but I like less heralded guys like Brady Christensen and Jackson Carman more. 6. Leatherwood 7. Carman 8. Cosmi 9. Mayfield 10. Christensen 11. Walker 12. Radunz
  14. 8. Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina. This guy could end up being the best corner of the draft. Dude is physical and athletic. 39. Alex Leatherwood, LT, Bama. Has elite frame and upside. Three seasons at Alabama never missing a start and being part of a oline that compares to pro teams. 73. Alim McNeill, DT, NC St. Pair him with Brown and we could be set for years in the middle of the dline. Off the charts athleticism. Well coached. NC St has put some solid dline prospects out there recently. Later in the draft I would be targeting some combination of TE, Center, Safety, WR and another corner with the next three picks. At WR Simi Femoko, Marquez Stevenson, Cornell Powell or Mike Strachan. At Center Trey Hill, Jimmy Morrisey, Michael Menet, or Drake Jackson. At Safety/ Corner Paris Ford, Kary Vincent Jr, Deommodore Lenior, Benjamin St Juste or Richard LaCounte III. At TE Quinton Morris, Tommy Tremble, Cary Angeline or Noah Grey.
  15. In other words we let the market settle and still got our guy. Smart
  16. Fitzpatrick mess around and get WFT into the playoffs. For Trey Lance's sake I hope he is not the target. Riverboat already ran one unique talent into the ground.
  17. Two options. A. 8 - Jaycee Horn. 39 - Richie Grant Jr Secondary greatly improved but the oline talent after the first two rounds will be slim pickings. It's doable at Center and guard but the tackles are gonna go fast. B. Trade with Jax. 25 - Creed. 33. Liam Bonus still have 39. Adding a guard at some point and the oline is young and set. I like this one because the options at corner and safety are more rounds deep. Also Fitterer has a history of finding linebackers and corners in the mid rounds. I have given up the ghost that we have a chance at QB. Adding weapons and building a young oline so the QB ( whoever, whenever ) can be successful is more realistic.
  18. I toyed with the idea of a all offense draft. This is what I came up with. 8. Rashawn Slater, OL, NW 33. Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC 73. Trey Hill, OL, Georgia 113. Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia 151. Simi Femoko, WR, Stanford 193. Quinton Morris, TE, Bowling Green 222. Ben Mason, RB, Michigan 226 Trey Ragas, RB, Louisiana-Lafayette Obviously this is just for fun. The all defense draft made sense last year because we needed the infusion of talent. We need more on that side of the ball still despite the last draft but.... A young oline of LT - Slater LG - Vera-Tucker OC - Hill RG - Daley RT - Moton Would be solid for years. Brief bits bout rest of plan. Newman is my fave developmental QB. Femoko and Morris would be go-to guys in the red zone. Lastly Mason and Ragas would be hammers to complement CMC.
  19. My top 10 1. Lawrence 2. Fields 3. Wilson 4. Sewell 5. Pitts 6. Slater 7. Chase 8. Horn 9. Waddle 10. Lance
  20. Early I like Nixon and McNeil. Later for a pass rusher Ta'Quon Graham out of Texas. Versatility and a frame capable of filling out. Then there is Khyiris Tonga a huge man who will occupy multiple blockers. Lastly Dion Novil is a small school beast with impressive size. 6'4" and 330 pounds with decent movement skills. I feel like we need two guys at DT. A pass rush guy and a space eater. With bigger needs and the recent draft of Derrick Brown I don't think Barmore, Nixon or Levi O are options because of how early they will likely be drafted.
  21. A trade down where we can address the oline is a option I would like to see. A for instance would be Jacksonville wanting to trade up to 8 for 25 and 33. Then we take a combo of a center and left tackle. Liam Eichenberg and Creed Humphrey. Alex Leatherwood and Josh Myers. Tevin Jenkins and Landon Dickerson. Much like the secondary the oline needs an injection of youth.
  22. Vince Young minus the head case issues = solid top 10 QB. Also fields is faster and more accurate. The comparison is fair but simultaneously extremely unfair. It's a worse case scenerio. As far as I'm concerned I have not bought into the one year wunderkids that are Wilson and Lance. Fields is the most proven compared to Wilson and Lance. Played against Jones and Lawrence and held his own. You don't win them all against top competition but the key is to compete. Wilson and Lance have not competed against the best.
  23. Newman to me is the wild card. Mills and Mond are the mid round developmental hail marys but Newman could be the Russell Wilson surprise star. Trask stinks of midround talent who bounces around the league and never sticks anywhere. Not a bad gig if you can get it. Big prototype QB will always get a job but average arm talent and a complete non factor outside the pocket has a limited shelf life in the modern NFL.
  24. Sorry I worry Slater's average height and length will make him a guard in the NFL. He obviously proved himself at left tackle in college but that was at Northwestern. Given the choice between Darrisaw, Eichenberg and Leatherwood or Slater I am taking one of the guys who played against the elites passrushers. It's the same reason Dillon Radunz is not high on my radar. Sorry I know they have talent and could transcend the lower level of competition but the learning curve could also be too steep. Chinn did the same last year proving he belonged but for every Chinn there are so many examples of big fish in little ponds who encounter the sharks of the NFL and are devoured.
  25. 1. Lawrence it's a given. 2. Wilson has been successfully hyped. 3. Fields is the best QB after Lawrence. 4. Lance cause despite Pitts talent. Planning for a team after Ryan is a thing 5. Sewell cause if they want a wr they can get one in the second. Marshall, Moore and Bateman could be there. Tackles in the second are.... 6. Chase the dream. Giving Hurts a star WR will help him develop. 7. Pitts cause this is his prime spot. Not too high not too low. Giving the QB this target is gonna make him look better. The trade needs to be seen as a win. 8. Here we are. Lots of options when you take QB off the table. My likely unpopular choices are Jaycee Horn and Christian Darrisaw. Horn could become the star corner of the draft over even Surtain. Darrisaw reminds me of Moton. Overlooked solid player that brings his lunchpail. The drop off at corner and tackle is steep. I like Leatherwood, Eichenberg and others but the ability to draft them falls as others can reach and get them at a bargain. Waiting could cause us to miss. Same situation with corner the group is deep but the top three are much better than the next five. Corners and tackles ( especially tackles capable of playing on the left and corners that can play on the outside ) will be in high demand. So... Likely the choice is a calculated risk in the first and a full on all in gamble in the second at these prime positions. Unfortunately we may have to wait on a QB.
