  1. As a guy who said we should have drafted Jones, and then this past spring said we should draft Zappe... I think that we could do well with either of them. Both have incredible processing speed and good arms. Now that we have Rhule out of the way, we might be able to actually develop a QB, so if one of those guys does need to find a new home, I wouldn't feel bad about it. My choice of the two would be to take Zappe and let him and Corral work for the starting gig, mostly because I think we could get Zappe for a better deal. Either, though, would be a boost here.
  2. Sure, we can make the team better by getting rid of the leader on defense, short-changing the only decent WR we have and how about we jettison CMC, too? There are other ways to skin this cat and better ways for sure. We just got rid of 138 lbs of dead weight in Robbie Anderson. That's a start. But we can't just gut the team of good, experienced players and expect to compete again in the next four years. We have a core now, heck we even have two good lines. Our linebackers show some promise. Our DBs can be very good, if they can stay healthy. We have one really good WR and some pedestrian ones. We have one of the most dynamic RBs in the league and some solid back-ups behind him. We don't have a QB, we need a TE, a WR2 (Chinnault might be that guy, tho) and a good slot guy who isn't wearing #22. We've got an ace punter and two good kickers. We need a new coaching staff, better front office people who are more savvy than suckers and better medical trainers.
  3. 74.5% of our offense in the last game. Dude, he isn't just the best player, he may be the only player we have. Give him up and we've got what to build around? What tools do we have on hand to entice a decent new coach? Do you think we can just draft another guy who can run, catch and block, knows the entire route tree and gives 100% on every freaking play whether he's being sent up the middle, playing slot receiver or blocking blitzers? Really, man.
  4. Every player on every team in every game on every play has a chance to be injured. You can't play the game and be worried about that. Also, his injuries were not long-term debilitating ones or wear and tear ones. I both seasons where he was shut down, there was absolutely no reason to bring him back as both were already lost causes.
  5. How about we keep him and you morons quit trying to trade away players we will need next year. I don't want to see us go into yet another frigging three year rebuild effort. Our team is short a QB and a coaching staff IF we do NOT trade away all of our best players. How do you not get this??? And when has our GM really done well with trades?
  6. Should have done this last year. Should have done all of this last year. Goodbye Sideshow Bob. Try not to get kicked off of a third terrible team, man.
  7. Yeah, he's going to have to spend his money on that. I think he's shot the public funding in the foot with his previous two forays. Rich people... they really hope you have short memories.
  8. A team that fired its coach on Monday, was down to its fourth string QB, had lost three major defensive starters to injury before the game, had fired its DC, traveled across the country and played the defending Super Bowl champs (who desperately needed a win) in their home stadium. It went about like you'd expect it to. Oh, except that we had a fight/argument break out on the sidelines between a starting WR and his position coach that ended up with the receiver being sent to the showers in the third quarter. So, Mrs. Lincoln, everything considered, how was the play?
  9. Truth. A hard truth, but true just the same. Dorsey had to learn how to minimize those faults and then maximize the immense number of talents Cam had. It worked beautifully for a while, but neither the plan, nor the man, could withstand it over time.
  10. The trick is determining which of the good young coaches are the real deal, long term capable guys and which are just the flavor of the month. Once upon a time, Rhule was that hot candidate.
  11. I'm not sure any WR would be excited to be out there with an offensive plan that didn't expect to throw the ball more than 2 yards downfield. When DJ had a QB that would at least throw the ball, he performed well. And no, Mayfield wasn't that guy. We're a broken team, but not a miserable wreck. If someone can get under the hood here and really work at it, we could see a turnaround like the Giants and Lions are having. It wasn't that many years back that the Rams were in the same boat we are.
  12. We've done so well with QBs who were the number one pick in the draft these past few years...
  13. Well, honestly, it's not like Walker gave us anything except screen and smoke passes. I think that experiment should be over, whether he's healthy or not. Eason at least looked the part and the INT can be overlooked at the moment because, well, last week he was probably sitting on a couch watching the games. Maybe he can be serviceable, maybe not. If he can't be the guy, here comes a chance for a lot of unsigned QB potential to rotate through and get a shot. Who knows, we might Happy Gilmore ourselves into something. Or at least we can see a lot of different QB numbers get used. Might as well have fun with it and cheer the little dudes on.
  14. I don't know, the guy got the job on Monday, had to fire his DC, move some coaches around, backfill the empty spots, practice up our 4th string QB, then fly cross country to take on a wounded, defending Super Bowl champ at their home stadium. And you know he knew that Robbie Anderson poo was going to happen, too. Oh yeah, and the list of injured starters was pretty long. And he's playing with a team built by a moron and his OC is basically the new guy from Man V Food just with less play calling ability. Maybe we should give Wilks a couple more weeks before we decide how bad he really is. We gave him a rubber band and half a stick of chewing gum. It might take him a bit of time to figure out how to McGuyver a win or two out of this.
  15. Well, that played out about how it was going to. And, we move on. Well, accept for maybe Robbie. Did they let him on the flight back home? Seeya Sideshow Bob.
  16. Actually, we might, if we can keep moving and grinding the game out. We're playing slow ball and putting it in the hands of CMC instead of PJ. That gives us a chance and keeps our defense fresh and opportunistic. It's old fashioned, but it's a strategy that Rhule would have been embarrassed to use.
  17. Bye, bye Sideshow Bob. I would go ahead and tell him to change clothes at halftime.
  18. The team has a different feel to it. This is a good start. And right now we're only sitting two games outside of first in our division after the Bucs loss and the Falcons win. That's just crazy that we could be just one game out if this continues.
  19. You're most likely right, but I just needed to feel a little bit of hope today.
  20. No idea how this is going to turn out today. On paper, we should get killed. In reality, LA has major problems with their offensive line, we have a guy who knows every one of their weaknesses and a lot of their playbook and has extensive practice experience against Donald and co. We may also have completely different play calling on both the offense and defense. We might surprise some folks. Or we might get steamrollered. Either way, it's game 1 without Rhule and that's a step in the right direction. I hope Wilks has a great showing today.
  21. They made major strides. I'm still wondering if we're at our best situation at Center, but it does seem to be working. There's nothing like watching the Bears and Commanders just kill each others' QBs last night to make you thankful for what we've now got. I'm really curious to see how Walker and Darnold can play behind this line. Sadly, I think Mayfield is broken and it's not the blocking (by our o-line at least) that seems to be the source of his problems.
  22. We dodged a bullet on Fields. He's not developing well in Chicago, he'd have done even worse here. You really need a proved OC and QB coach on hand BEFORE you even evaluate draftable QBs. Or even try to pick up a veteran, I guess. We haven't had those guys in quite some time.
