  1. They aren't bad, as long as Radio Shack hasn't set out a bin of used batteries before the game.
  2. Let's just look to the immediate future. C'mon big trade.
  3. Honestly, he looked like he was in preseason under the idea that as a vet and holding a contract, he really didn't have to work at it. He got outhustled by about three guys that should have been lower on the depth chart than him. Not sure he'll be missed here. He might have been the better player, but he didn't seem to make much effort to prove it.
  4. This has been a tough year. I lost my first cousin Monday, his Mom two months ago (long-standing medical issues) and five months ago I lost another cousin to suicide. This has been a trying year for so very many people. I really need a good season of football to help me cope, yanno? And to enjoy that season with the folks I love.
  5. Can happen when someone puts a year's pay in a wallet all quick like and then says "Sit down and rest a while."
  6. If you had a really talented player who was either really klutzy or violent in practice that could at any time not just take themselves out of play for two weeks, but also take multiple teammates out of practices and games for two weeks you probably would be wise to cut that guy. That's what unvaccinated players could well be. And it's not like they haven't been warned. Foolish players will cost you. It's like taking Vontaze Burfict and putting you on your practice squad. He's gonna take out a few of your starters sooner or later in practice.
  7. It wains on many viruses naturally. That immunity to chicken pox you gained as a kid? Welcome to shingles in your middle age, unless you vaccinate. And then there's the variants thing, which is in a way why you need regular vaccinations against the flu -- variations on a theme (influenza) but new strains popping up each year. Science always changes in one way and in another it doesn't. Science is a process, it's observations, experimentations and learning, but it is never static and set in stone. The whole universe is in motion from things the size of galaxies to things as small as the quantum particles, so science can never sit still and still do its job.
  8. Nice guy, good story but we didn't release him because he was too expensive or injury prone, it was because he didn't fit what the coaches wanted. Now being released by the Saints... it probably didn't change anything in our front office or coaching cadre. Best of luck to him out there, nice guy.
  9. Studies are showing that antibodies are still being produced/viable in the body between seven and nine months later after infection. Those studies also show drop offs after that time, but I don't believe we've had enough time to unequivocally say when the immunities completely disappear. We just know they weaken over time and it's likely they are slightly less strong against variants. That being said, I lost my first cousin yesterday morning to Covid. He was just a year older than me, but otherwise medically the same. He'd had his first dose of the vaccine but was three days shy of getting the second shot when he caught the virus. He spent three agonizing weeks in the hospital and his final three days intubated. He left behind a wife and two kids (both in their early 20s). He was the picture of health, happy and beloved. Now, he's gone. Get your shots. It might be more than a football career you lose.
  10. The end of storied careers is oftentimes unpleasant and anything but heroic in the NFL. We sure had some great years here with him and that's really all we need to say.
  11. Okay, the Grier cut kinda perplexes me. He actually didn't look too bad out there Friday night. Kinda gave him the edge vs Walker I thought. But what do I know. There's a lot in practices and position meetings that goes on that we aren't privy too.
  12. Head scratcher... unless they are hoping to work out a trade somewhere. I mean, he's not terrible or even bad, he just never really made more than a hiccup here on the field. Surely there's a team in need who can give him an opportunity and give us a 7th...
  13. Brilliant piece, OP. Thanks for encouraging us to get some perspective.

In short, they're fun. And when you get a 6'5" guy in a dinosaur mask look into a camera before a title match and say, "This one's for you Mom, we've waited 65 million years!" then you can't help but just enjoy it.

Nah, the best thing going in wrestling right now is Jurassic Express. The first time I saw Luchasaurus I was like, nah this can't be a thing. Then his tag partners are some kid named Jungle Boy and this little, tiny 98-lber Marco Stunt... they were up against Santana & Ortiz with some other dude and it was the craziest, most fun match I'd seen in a while. Hooked me on AEW right there. And that match last Friday of Jurassic Express vs. the Luchabros was the best tag team match I've seen in a decade.
  16. True. Although a wildcat offense running through CMC is thought-provoking. Disastrous, but thought provoking.
  17. Between how hard the area has been hit by Covid and now the hurricane, it's a tough time to be in that part of the country. Prayers for all those folks in Louisiana and the neighboring states.
  18. He's a Panther now, wishing him nothing but luck for this season.
  19. Good luck to Joey. Hope he can get the issue fixed. If so, he'll catch on somewhere fast. Wish he'd have gotten that FG distance record while he was here, but he'll get another chance at it somewhere before too long.
  20. Last night they went a long way toward making me feel better about our chances this season. So, more than just any one thing, I'm looking forward to just seeing that opening game. Seeing what the polished product will look like, seeing the final arrangement of the offensive line, seeing Darnold move the offense, seeing CMC return to the human highlight reel form he had before. And that defense, yeah, let's see them earn some respect out there.
  21. While there were some good insights he gave, Smitty is better as an analyst who can take some time to prepare what he's going to say. Given free rein and the need to fill airspace, he can say some pretty unprofessional things. Give him some game film to watch and a few hours to prepare his thoughts, he can provide you with some serious knowledge and perspective. I think the NFL Network has him set at the position he needs to hold. But yeah, the comments on Joey Slye at times seemed cruel. It was just kicking a man while he was down.
  22. Braised beef ribs with lots of mushrooms, served over egg noodles.
