No team is stacked at every position. We have elite player(s) at every level of the defense and that's rare. (Brown, Phillips, Lloyd, Horn, Jackson, Moehrig). I think Scourton is going to break out this year.
-
Assuming everyone stays healthy, this defense should easily be top 10 and if not, some players need to be traded. Wallace and Scott are the only liabilities and Wallace has looked decent at times.
-
Yes he would, but I'm not sure Cam can be anything other than the alpha on a team.
-
I think the QB position is over hyped these days and all of these record contracts don't seem to be working because they lose other good players. No idea why they'd consider a Bryce extension unless they can get him cheap and they think he can cut down on the turnovers and be a game manager.

Trevin Wallace - One Final Shot...or is Cherelus someone to watch?
jtm replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I expect another LB to be picked up once cuts start happening. The way injuries have plagued that position, it seems smart to have plenty of depth. This team will go as far as the defense takes them because I don't expect our offense to start putting up 30 points a game. -
Draft Week Rumors, Leaks and Media Draftniks Final Mocks

I don't think Dan knows who he's picking and I fully expect him to go BPA regardless of the position. For it to be WR or TE, a stud would have to fall and it would have to be someone that the Panthers are in love with and I'd be shocked if this is Sadiq. -
I disagree and let's not normalize poor personal decisions because lots of people don't make these trangressions and especially not with someone that you do business with when you work in the public eye.

Mike Kaye: “I would keep a pretty close eye on {KC Concepcion}.”

A 1st round WR would be a head scratcher because Bryce should be feeding Tmac and Coker as much as possible. The only positive with XL is the fact that he seems fine with being the decoy receiver. -
Dillon is an insurance policy if Brooks doesn't play well or can't stay healthy. Panthers don't seem ready to rely on Etienne for any meaningful touches yet.

Officiating in the NFL needs to be completley overhauled. The refs should work fulltime for the NFL and should be paid well so they don't need other jobs. College officiating is better than the NFL.

Injuries are specific to the person. Some athletes can recover and get back to full speed from major injuries and others cannot. I think part of it is mental because if you hesitate or don't fully trust the repair, you can get reinjured easier. This is my theory and I'm certainly not a pro athlete, but I played in college and tore my acl.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com 4-round mock draft

Scourton, Umanielen, Moehrig, Jackson, Phillips, and Loyd have been added to the roster in the last 18 months. That's definitely not neglecting the defense. -
This is the best plan. Convince me otherwise

Safety would suprise me with Ransom and Isaiah Simmons on the roster. If they can't beat out NIck Scott, that speaks volumes. If they don't go BPA, OL seems to be the biggest need with injuries that always seem to plague this position group. -
Panthers don't target TEs because they can't get open. Sanders is the only one that can regularly get open and he drops the ball regularly and isn't a great blocker. Tremble is the best TE and he likely wouldn't start for most teams.

I don’t care what position they draft as long as the pick is a starter and immediate contributor. Good teams always hit on their first two rounds and after that, it’s a crap shoot. -
FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE
jtm replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Morgan said he wanted better talent but he didn't want to give up draft picks. Teams always have to overpay for top talent in free agency and time will tell if this was a good move or not, but I'm happy the Panthers are being aggressive. -
You aren't going to get anything for XL and I'd give him another year before pulling the plug. A lot of WRs don't break out until their third year. Panthers shouldn't be dropping 20 million on any free agent unless it is a LT or pass rusher.
-
Reality check - XL and Coker have almost the same production the past two years. I'm pulling for Coker and I think he can be a great tandem with TMac, but let's tap the breaks on giving him a big payday. The NFL is littered with WRs that have 500 yards receiving and hit a big game every once and a while.
-
He wasn't good here and neither was Mayfield. It is what it is but it does make me question this organization's ability to develop a QB.
-
Perhaps, but you still can't discount what Beane has done. I'm sure Allen had a voice as well re: McDermott.
-
Beane turned around a franchise that was a perennial loser and in his 9 years running the show he's made the playoffs 8 times. He's been one of the most successful GMs during his tenure and folks here throwing shade at him makes zero sense. If Morgan can follow these footsteps, he will be a god in Carolina.
-
Unless you have a hall of fame QB, I think defenses win champtionships and I'd follow the Seattle model. Even the best QBs can't win without a good team and our defense is a couple players away from being elite and what I'd focus on if I'm Dan Morgan.

Carolina Panthers - Potential cap casualties
jtm replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robinson needs to stay. Tremble is the only reliable TE on the roster that I'd trust in a big moment. He isn't great, but he's fairly reliable and I don't see him going anywhere unless they make a play for a big splash TE in free agency or draft one early. Sanders has all the potential, but can't stay healthy and isn't the best blocker. -
I'm sure he regrets leaving Carolina becuse he was non-existent after he left and he was a key part of Carolina's offense. Great guy and I wish him the best.

Should Canalas bring someone else in to call offensive plays?
jtm replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a rare situation where the fans are probably more objective than the front office because Evero should be gone and Canales should give up play calling. Neither of these things will happen because Morgan and Tepper don't want to impact any momentum now that this team is finally somewhat relevant and competing.
