The rookie salary cap is designed for teams to be able to move on from a high pick that doesn't work out. If Bryce doesn't show considerable improvement this year, the Panthers will likely draft another QB next year. No one should write off a rookie QB in year 1, but after year 2 is a different story. I'm pulling for Bryce.

Herbert is not going anywhere. Harbaugh might be controversial, but he's not an idiot and he wins everywhere he goes.
-
I'd let him play out the last year of his contract because injuries happen. If he's unhappy doing this, then pay the man because he deserves it. We should have a ton of money to pay players until it is time to re-sign Bryce assuming we re-sign him.

This has to be depth and not our starter on the other end.
-
This is a solid signing and he's young. Let's grab Clowney on a 2 year deal and our edge will be much better this year. I suspect we won't miss Burns.

BOLD Prediction: Defense will be Better not Worse
jtm replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Evero is helping pick the players and I suspect he is, I think our D will be improved. He's the only coach that I have complete confidence in based on what he did last year with marginal talent. Plus, I think our offense will be better and the D won't be on the field for the entire game. -
Combs said exactly what most fans, including myself, were thinking. I refuse to get excited for this team until the Panthers start playing competitive football.

Would keeping Burns require another big D-line addition?
jtm replied to Donald LaFell's topic in Carolina Panthers
This response didn't age well . . .haha. -
Let's get all of the pass rushers on short term deals . . . why not. Young/Clowney is better than what we had last year.

What will Dionte Johnson’s attitude be on the Panthers?
jtm replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Elite WRs are divas and it sounds like he's no different. If he doesn't ball out, we move on because he isn't costing much money. -
Nicole Tepper on the proudest moment since owning the team….
jtm replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Teppers need to stop talking to the media and just disappear. They can reappear if this team ever starts to win. -

8 sacks and 50 tackles (solo and assisted) puts him as the 37th best rusher. No way is this $30 million a year. Your stats come from brianburns.com . . .ha ha just kidding. A guy taking plays off to avoid injury is not a "dawg" or a leader. -

He's the 4th best player (Brown, Luvu, Horn (when healthy) on the Panthers defense. The fact he wants elite money is crazy. -
Nicole Tepper on the proudest moment since owning the team….
jtm replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I find it very interesting if you do a search on Nicole Tepper on the internet, you cannot find any background on her. No educational or business background on the internet whatsoever. Someone is paying a lot of money to scrub the internet. -
The State of Charlotte . . . geez.

If we are being honest, Burns should not be an every down type of player because he's terrible against the run. -
Division Talk: Falcons are heavy favorites to land Justin Fields
jtm replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
This would be a great move for the Falcons, unfortunately. -
Once Burns said he took plays off to protect his health, he's done as far as I'm concerned. Give me a whole team full of Luvu kind of energy and effort.

Smitty on the 2024 WR Draft Class (w/cliffnotes)
jtm replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree and I'm giving most players a pass last year with the sh@t show that they endured and the OL is included in this. Reich ran more of a zone blocking run scheme versus Wilks downhill style and our OL is built to go forward, not sideways. -
Locked on Panthers: Why the Panthers should pay Derrick Brown
jtm replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Signing Brown and Luvu to long term deals are no brainers. They should tag and trade Burns for a 1st or a stud offensive player. -

Are we seriously writing off Mingo after one year. Rookie WRs rarely explode their first year in the NFL. -
In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?
jtm replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't b/c if Bryce doesn't ball out next year, the Panthers will likely be picking number 1 the following year and taking a QB. -
The GOATs always find a way to elevate their play and the play around them when it matters. Brady and Mahomes do this all the time and why they are who they are. The 49ers could have easily won that game last night and it is easy to second guess everything today, but I'd hold my head high if I was a 49ers fan or player.

I’m sure he owned up after he got caught. That’s how this plays out 99.9% of the time. That’s not leadership

No, that's not what I'm saying. I think we need a longer track record of being a good dude than 2 years because it appears he was still being a bad dude while he was in Seattle, which was 2 years ago. It is not like he interviewed to run a local business, the Panthers are a huge, worldwide company. I'm a father with two kids and I can't imagine doing what he did and then writing a book about it. His kids will have to deal with that book for the rest of their lives and don't deserve that. He's a public figure and it is not like you and I writing a book that no one will read. It is selfish behavior and I don't like it. I know it is sports and no one will care as long as he wins.
