Joey Slye kicked well Monday night against the Eagles. In the upset, Slye made all four of his field-goal attempts, including one from 58 yards and another from 55 yards. All of Slye’s kicks were important, and he delivered. The Commanders do not win that game without him.

This: "As Tepper considers all of his options for the GM and head coach spots in the next few weeks and months, he shouldn’t completely dismiss the growth that has happened since mid-October. Whether that means that Fitterer and/or Wilks are retained is another story, but at least Tepper knows the team has some legitimate talent to move forward with if he decides to go in a different direction or retain his two top decision-makers."

You are probably correct but often it's hard to figure out what Tepper will do in most cases.

I feel pretty confident that the Panthers will start Sam Darnold at some point before seasons end. They need to find out if Sam could be considered as a stating QB or a back up for them going forward by putting his feet to the fire for what could turn out to be his final fling with the team.

The Panthers missed out on obtaining Justin Herbert but can make it up if they can draft Drake Maye, who will probably be coming out for the 2024 draft. Maye presently seems to have everything a team would want to build around as their QB. I have no idea what the teams plan will be in 2024 but if they are still QB needy, he would be an ideal choice.

He just got my vote. Salute.

I wonder if he only did it once?

How bad does PJ need to play to be removed as starter?

That was one of the most, if not the most, stupid plays of the game. What in the world was a long time, mature, NFL QB like him thinking? -
Mayfield probably thinks he is the best QB on the team and feels odd sitting on the sidelines holding a play chart board. To his credit and all considered, he has kept quite, been supportive of the team and handled his so far wasted season really well.

All to often sports announcers will make critical comments to appear all knowing and blessed with superior knowledge. I have no idea if Al Michaels made continued critical comments toward our team or city but if he did, I say shame on him for stooping that low.

PFF grades from Panthers v Falcons (week10)
KatsAzz replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Both WR Terrace Marshall Jr. and WR Laviska Shenault Jr. Had good games against the Falcons. I hope they are used more in the offensive game plan going forward. -
Running Back is certainly not a high draft priority for the Panthers but if one they like falls to the later rounds, I could see them selecting him.

I really hate this happened Donte and wish him a speedy recovery.

I thought those were the best looking uniforms in Panthers history.

To quote former Panthers head coach, John Fox: "It is what it is". -
Simply put, there’s too little control over the outcome of an NFL season or NFL draft for the a "Tanking" strategy to work in the long run. And intentionally bottoming out won’t work in most situations. NFL teams can roll over salary cap space. This is unique in pro sports, and it is a resource that is entirely predictable. I don’t believe NFL teams do or will tank for draft picks. I believe NFL teams are tanking for cap space. By intentionally spending far below the cap, teams can build up a reserve of extra money that they can then use during a window of contention to keep their team together or supplement it with good free agents. This roll over cap space is entirely within a team’s control and it has an obvious benefit. I believe this is the new way forward in the NFL for rebuilding teams,

If UNC QB Drake Maye, who has area roots, comes out for the 2024 NFL Draft as expected, I am all for drafting him, even at a high cost. Next year may prove me wrong but currently Maye is showing the talent needed to become a good starting NFL QB with potential star status.

Not only was this a win but it was a win against the Falcons.

I will be pulling for Matt Corral to make the team next year in some form or fashion. However, considering that leading up to the injury, Corral wasn't having a particularly sharp showing, he may have an up hill to climb.

Brugler: Next year's quarterbacks "not universally loved"
KatsAzz replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would say forget it because it would set the team back so far it would take years to regroup. -

Each year the QB class the following year seems projected to be better than the present year.
