With LT checked off, that is our desperation so yeah, I can see that being a solid take.

Round 2-3 predictions. Do the Panthers get a pick,?
Waldo replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
There have been a couple of years where they should have said it, 2013 comes to mind. It's rare but it does happen. -

I'm cool as long as it doesn't involve next year's top 3 picks. I'm also cool with Jimmy G or Mayfield...as long as it's not from a trade. Someone is getting released at some point. I hope Fritts learned about over trading last year. He got really trade happy and it hasn't paid off. I'm more interested in seeing who they value at this point, all the BS aside. -
In reality, he will have less pressure than as a 1st and he gets a franchise tag instead of a 5th year option. I bet he is also motivated. If he goes to a functional team he could get very interesting in 2023.
-
We will be paying most if not all of that this year. If he even can keep a backup spot it is going to be for cheap, like we should have done with him. Yeah, that is a QB I would love to see us play against. That would be fun. Other than that, fug'em.
-
Isn't that what a backup does when they have an established starter? Yeah he isn't good and I don't think he ever improves. I could still see a team paying him very little to hold a clipboard and chase 'improvement' for a year.
-
The guy was crying on the field last year, I don't know how they don't do something during or after the draft. He isn't a starter but he could be a backup. He will get another shot, just at a much lower pay and much less expectations.
-
Sam was a better prospect and was still not good enough... QBs just get pushed up the board, even if they shouldn't. Appears fair this year but it will be fun to see if one of these guys can be more than average
-
Yeah I ain't a Pitt or Pickett fan so I don't have to pretend to want him to succeed. He was a very blah prospect and it will be fun to watch him play elsewhere. That is a guy I want to see us play against, not for.
-
To those of you worried about Ichey just lol. His run blocking is what that side was beyond weak at. And having guys pass rush Sam should increase his play, it's where he puts up his best numbers...not that it will be desirable in the end. With a Sam quality QB, just run the damn ball and don't over think it. Kind of like having a rookie but without the hope of improvement.

In a year when 1 QB, the most valued and paid position, went 18. I think that speaks for itself. Lance had 2 first and other picks trade for him to sit a year at #3.

I think we do a player trade. Not sure who. They can't possible belive CMC will be healthy. Anderson is an easy hope. Jackson's trade window looks closed. IDK, one of the oline guys we signed last year?...lol jk -
The QBs this year are just bad. 1 went in the first and even in a good situation I wouldn't bet on him. I am just glad we didn't end up with any of them...yet
-
Worse with time to throw... I just don't know what to else say. Even with a great LT and a good oline Sam is going to see ghost. It is who he has always been.
-
I'm still not sure BC can take the LG spot but I damn sure hope he does.

Where it should have always have been...as backups.

Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers select Ikem Ekwonu
Waldo replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The little I did looking at prospects this year, this guy stood out as a LT. Great pick! Now just avoid trading the farm to get a QB who is absolutely getting replaced next year and it's all I could ever hope for this year. -

Jeremiah's Final Mock: Panthers could think of trading UP?!
Waldo replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Or take a 10 year LT at 6 and finally do something right... -
Backup at LT and a huge liability anywhere else.

I've never been less excited about a draft in Panthers history.
Waldo replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's find a long term LT and be the happiest I can with these clowns but blah knowing what this season holds. Anything else would just be a huge disappointment and failure so I fully expect that BS. Yeah, disinterest and hopelessness at an all time high for me. It's a trainwreck at this point, just entertainment in their constant failure. -
Reaction to Carolina Panthers 1st round pick
Waldo replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Very low expectations after last year. Not getting a player that contributed most of the year in a meaningful way in the first 3 rounds was a huge failure on multiple levels. Now we have 1 pick in that range... I'm not even watching this year. Just pop on the Huddle and see what's what and all.
