No, keeping/promoting DM after firing Fitt was a mistake. Dan was 2nd in command through all of Fitts mistakes. Those were Dans mistakes too.

The Panthers chose poorly picking Bryce, but did they ever have a chance given our hypothetical top options were Bryce, CJ, Richardson, and Caleb the following year? I doubt we would have chosen Jayden with the #1 pick. In hindsight, our best option was sticking with Baker.

That’s not an easy fix. We are stuck with DC and DM because we couldn’t get anyone else. Unfortunately, Tepper has to give those two guys at least three seasons to repair his reputation. Otherwise, the candidates we need will continue to choose other jobs.

I wish, but I don’t think we can do that. Tepper has a terrible reputation of firing too fast, which means the best candidates stay away from us. That’s how we ended up with Dave and Dan. Unfortunately, we need to let those guys play out three full seasons at least before we hit the market again.

This isn’t a ‘slow start’. This is the same level of play we’ve seen the past 3-4 years. Slow start implies they can play better.

I know people who work in there and they say Tepper is never in the building. Tepper is just terrible at hiring and that adds up.
