He deserves a chance to do the job of a GM without someone else telling him what he needs to accomplish. You cannot put him fully at fault when it has become increasingly clear that Rhule held too much power over the organization. Maybe he sinks, maybe he swims, but I think he needs a chance to do it as a real GM.

Remember the Twitter thread about Wilks and Snow arguing?

McDermott's last year starters: Wilks first year starters: Yes, he got McDermott's defense. -
Over the top?!?!?! FFS! How much more "over the top" do they need to be? They have the #2 scoring offense and the #1 scoring defense. The Bills don't need CMC, let alone would they give up anything for him. That team is built RIGHT.

The problem with that is that it's exactly backwards. Want to build a winning culture? It's easy. WIN. Certain things you can influence. Don't bring in a bunch of sleazebag players. Ask the players you have to give maximum effort. Then you have to do your part as a coach. Take the players you have, figure out their strengths and weaknesses, then create a program that gets the most out of them. Dial up the right schemes and plays. All of that leads to winning, and winning then creates the winning culture.

This. I've heard and seen nothing but good things about him as a position coach. But I've observed only bad when he gets a greater degree of responsibility. -
He was also terrible as our DC. I think the guy is at his level as a position coach. There is nothing wrong with that. He seems like a good dude who connects well with the players . . . but just not more than that.

I actually find it very interesting that we call so much RPO. It made me really think. Was this offense designed for Matt Corral? Serious question. RPO was his bread and butter in college. Quick release? Off platform? Three step drops? Fits him to a tee. I think we had serious intentions of putting Corral under center this year. So much so that we designed an offense around it. Absolutely no way to prove it, but there's a good argument to be made. This "looks" like a Corral offense.

I don't know if Fitts will be any good or not. But in fairness, it's very difficult to objectively judge this when Rhule has / had so much control in his hands. The truth is that none of us can be sure how many of the decisions are Rhule and how many are Fitts. We need an owner to lock in a clear front office structure so that we can place credit and blame where they are due.

You got it right in the end, but Cam was done when he was replaced. It was the right call. Rivera was done when he was replaced. Correct call. The problem was the replacements we brought in are/were not up to the standards. We all listened to Tepper when he said mediocrity was not acceptable. Unfortunately, we assumed he meant we would be striving for better. Instead, we are now terrible. Hooray for the death of mediocrity!

I think we need to see at least a full season of Dorsey as a coordinator. Right now, all he's done is taken over the offense Brian Daboll built. Yes, Dorsey gets a LOT of credit for helping develop Josh Allen. But let's see him call plays and be creative.

I think it was either three or four drops against the Cards for Ian / Tommy combined. I will say that in the run game, our scheme asks them to do some REALLY stupid things.

58.2 was his rating, his QBR was 13.8. It's confusing, but they are actually two different stats.
-
FWIW, Bridgewater's 56.8 is the highest QBR the Panthers have had since 2015.

Just so we're all on the same page here, we're talking about this PJ Walker, right? The guy with a 4:1 INT to TD ratio? Completing 56% of his passes? With 3.4 air yards per attempt? The guy two inches SHORTER than Baker Mayfield? Frankly, nothing could signal "white flag" to the locker room any more clearly than starting PJ Walker.

I posted something similar in another thread, but let me expand on it a little bit. Removing the two TD's our defense has scored, the following quarterbacks lead offenses scoring more points than the Carolina Mayfields: Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Jacoby Brissett, Trevor Lawrence, Marcus Mariota, Tua Tagovailoa / Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr, Geno Smith, Jameis Winston / Andy Dalton, Daniel Jones / Tyrod Taylor, Joe Flacco / Zack Wilson, Ryan Tannehill, Mitch Trubisky, Mac Jones / Brian Hoyer, Carson Wentz, Cooper Rush, Jimmy Garrapolo, Matt Stafford. This isn't a list of the top 10 QB's. These guys are "ok", but their offenses score more points. The problem isn't our QB. Mayfield has been poor, yes. But he's good enough to win games for us if we set him up for success. Somehow, our staff fail to make this most logical of connections.
-
Some terrifying perspective: Those four guys represent nearly half of our cap for next year. At least Robbie and Shaq can be cut. I pray we don't try to restructure / extend either. Just cut bait.

He is . . . but he's not wrong. You cannot play like crap and then tell the fans that you don't care. Or tell the fans that they aren't real fans if they boo. Lot of bad vibes on the offensive side of the ball here. But I'm sure if we just trust the process we'll see 1000% improvement by the end of the season.

This is the worst panthers team in our history

In fairness, Tepper kept his promise. We are no longer mediocre, we're awful. Hooray.
