Yup, and again, as the advanced stats pointed out, he struggled the most out of all of the top QB prospects in completing throws to the sidelines... combining that inability with the troubles he'll have seeing over NFL-sized lines for the middle of the field throws, then I just don't see the appeal.

In my mind, it's Stroud or AR. People hating on AR, and I've seen people insult him for his inaccuracy when the Josh Allen comparisons have been made, which is hilarious because Josh Allen threw like poo against weak ass competition... AR had his issues playing as a first year starter on a not-what-it-used-to-be Florida squad talent-wise, in a pro-style offense against the toughest opponents in the country, and if you nitpick his games against their lesser opponents, he still had all the other issues to deal with I already mentioned. He has beautiful mechanics, ridiculous athleticism, and as many analysts have revealed in studying his tape, he made big strides in his processing and ability to read defenses as the year went on... if we took him, the sky is the limit with our staff. His weaknesses can be refined, his strengths can't be taught or learned. That's a tough combination to beat.

I loved DJ Moore. I think he was criminally underrated here, but at the same time, it just kind of felt like it was one of those square peg, round hole things. No matter how talented he is, we couldn't create or execute gameplans that accentuated his abilities or strengths. It just felt like the relationship had ran its course. And I've said the same thing about CMC. No matter how uniquely talented he is, the relationship just kind of ran its course and a reset was needed for both parties. We just couldn't figure it out the way the offense has been run, so get value for them and see if they can reach that potential in a new setting. Now... this new offense? It's just so potent because we're not putting all our eggs in a 1 or 2 guy basket. We have players who complement one another with their abilities and skillsets, and any one of them could be the best player on the field on any given Sunday without force feeding them like we tried to with DJ and CMC.

You're right. I'm making my assessment off of what I've seen and pairing it with numbers such as these. He was an outstanding college QB. I think his ceiling is a solid starter in the NFL, but not a franchise-changing winning QB. And again, whether it's Stroud or Richardson, would you rather have a bigger canvas that still has a ton of room to create a masterpiece, or a portrait-sized canvas that doesn't have a single speck of area not already painted on. Aside from injury concerns bc of his frame, Bryce Young is naturally going to be more limited than Stroud or Richardson in terms of potential growth.

Former Panthers QB Cam Newton to be throwing at Auburn's Pro Day
Proudiddy replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just really wish there was some miraculous surgery Cam could've undergone to get his shoulder back to 100% and he could resume playing with like 5 more years of peak ability. -
I really wouldve very liked to be able to sign one of Geisecki or Schultz to pair with Hurst. I'm guessing we will target TE in the mid rounds of the draft now.

I would cream my pants... But I would also like to present the possibility that could it be he was talking to him in regards to an incoming rookie he may be representing?

And tbh, judging from the Thielen signing, it sounds like this staff's MO is once they have a guy in, to make sure he doesn't go anywhere else. Guessing they sold him on the pitch and then have just worked on the details since then.

Tbh, I'm as skeptical as they come, but Twitter has been on fire this offseason with calling our moves before they were official. If this one is true, I am absolutely stoked. I wanted us to take Chark coming out of LSU... If he can finally stay healthy a full season, we are going to be an offensive juggernaut.

Adam Thielen interview with Pat MaCafee...
Proudiddy replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, even just listening to Thielen, it is clear, the culture shift has already taken place. When was the last time we were linked to the top player at a position in the market, who was viewed as a "contender only" signee, and we actually landed them? And not just a guy on his last leg hoping to ride an already constructed team to a Superbowl... this is different. Thielen is going to be a big time contributor on this team. And the fact he said, "I wasn't planning on going to Carolina," but he did, says all you need to know about the staff that's in the building. Players league-wide will now know, this is a place you want to be a part of. Missed opportunities of years past, like signing Charles Woodson, will be no longer. These guys will want to sign here because they believe in what has been and what is currently being built. This is gonna be fun... I called it earlier in the offseason once the staff started coming together, but we will win a Superbowl under Frank Reich. Period. And I anticipate it will be sooner rather than later. -
Adam Thielen interview with Pat MaCafee...
Proudiddy replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's why I have believed in him since day one. The moves we know he has been responsible for have been great value, even when Rhule was here. His willingness and ability to pull off deals, both trades and FA is a gift and an asset... and he's so much different than ehat we've had in the past between egomaniacs (Polian, Gettleman) and guys who outside of first rounders just seemed to go through the motions (Hurney). Fitt is a asset. Period. Love what he's building. -
Adam Thielen interview with Pat MaCafee...
Proudiddy replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I haven't commented on his signing yet, but I love it. And for everyone that eas saying he was washed, the dude is like 2 or 3 years removed from being considered one of the absolute best receivers in football. It's not coincidental that his touches and production dropped when they drafted Jefferson, who is currently projecting as thr best receiver to ever play in the NFL. That is nothing to sneeze at. And yet, as the other thread pointed out, he was still getting significant separation regularly, he simply wasn't getting the targets he got before Jefferson got there. The dude is only 32, with no significant injury history, and again, is only a few years removed from being considered one of, if not the best receiver in football. And he still an immaculate route runner... those guys tend to be able to play quite awhile. This was a huge signing... if we somehow find a way to get Chark and then add whatever we get in the draft in addition to the franchise QB, I'm thinking floor is NFCG. -
MJ in talks to sell majority stake of Hornets
Proudiddy replied to carpanfan96's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Loved MJ as a player, but he's been complete ass as an owner. Sadly, I don't think him selling is going to make much of a difference. Unfortunately, I've accepted this franchise is not ever going to be good or a perennial contender. -
I really think the WR corps is going to surprise this coming season. Be it Stroud or Richardson, I anticipate the offense is just gonna be about getting it out quick and letting guys do the damage once the ball is in their hands, with occasional bombs. I think for the first time in a very, very long time, we are going to have a system that makes our players better versus us always having been reliant on the players to make up for the lack of a system/coaching in the past. And any of the guys being talked about will fit just fine in Reich's system and with how he plans on using the rookie QB.
-
I dont think we do. Even with Rhule being the final word, Fitt still seemed to be able to have some influence on who was brought in at times, and especially if he had a previous link to guys, and we didn't show any interest before he went to the Browns. I'd like to see it at the right price, but I just don't think we will.

I actually might be more intrigued by Miles Sanders than Jamaal Williams. Williams is an incredible human being and great ambassador and leader, but I think he's fairly limited as a player.

Panthers to host former Vikings WR Adam Thielen
Proudiddy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hardman + Thielen + Schultz/Geisecki + secondary TE like a Bratte. -
If we could find a way to double up like we did with year 1 Cam and get a Olsen plus Shockey, that would be even sweeter.
-
Still wild Rhule started him over Boze and tried to convince everyone ad it was going on that he was playing great and was the better option. I'm just still dumbfounded how anyone tied to the organization sat through that idiocy without saying a word challenging it. Just unreal.
