Meh hard to say. People need to realize, if they haven’t already, Tepper is a god damn idiot. He has tried to interview for a GM when Hurney was already the GM. That’s against the rules and he got denied (and laughed at). He also let Hurney help him hire the future. He also had a small time college coach have input on hiring the GM (lmao). He could very well be hiring the entire staff himself and be neutering the new HC. And common sense says only poor options would allow that. So maybe Wilks. Also makes sense why Harbaugh was a quick no. Tepper strikes me as the type to go 180 to the other extreme after being swindled (by Rhule) like an idiot, Watson after Cam has this feel. And this would too after giving Rhule full control, and now no one gets it. Hell this could have been his wife’s idea. Or maybe his new ‘smarter than the rest of the NFL’ revelation. Yes this is all just thoughts a speculation. But you have to bring your theories to insanely stupid levels to understand Tepper. You don’t just stumble into being the founder of the worst season stretch in a 30 year history of a franchise, while actually trying, in your first shot, without having some really bad ideas. His learning curve is a big one, and will take quite a while before he gets it right. Buckle up. He’s already shown to completely ignore how things are done and NFL history, but ironically, will end up there anyways when he finally figures out what everyone else already knows.

We don’t even have a GM yet. Or really even an owner. Despite the positions not being vacant.
-
Meh. He’s alright. It’s not a priority to replace or anything. The clutch kicks are most important though. Couple more of those misses and need to start looking again.
-
That’s because he’s doing it all ass backwards yet again for some reason. Consultants find a GM and that GM finds the coach. That’s how it’s done and most NFL teams are built. Fitt has zero experience and is not qualified nor should he be a GM. I said we will know if Tep still hasn’t learned if Fitt is still here seasons end and what do you know. You literally have a room full of people who have zero relevant football decision making experience calling the shots. It’s comical. It’s like when he tried to interview GMs but couldn’t because he already had one, Tepper is a fuging idiot. He doesn’t know how this works or the rules, anymore than posters here. It’s sad. For those paying close attention, this is a toy to Tepper. He wants to leisurely figure it out himself and wants the credit for doing so. How long that takes or whether he actually can do it or not is completely irrelevant. fug him.

Would much rather give draft capital and a QB for five years on the cheap than pay a big contract for a QB. That’s the ideal blue print. Generally, that big contract/vet QB blueprint option #2 isn’t going to work on an already cap crippled, perennial 5-win team.
-
Eh. I see it another way. In reality this magnifies this franchise’s biggest issues for years, awful cap management/contracts and poorly utilizing a modern player causing him to be more injury prone, which both are loosely related to cringe dinosaur coaching hires and losing seasons with a crippled cap (obviously). But I get it, we need to self preserve so yea, this was a win for us I guess. For the record, I would’ve taken this trade too. But I’m not going to ignore the bigger picture/issue of what is going on.

No. No bonus and it means nothing. Hurney…that u?

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick
onmyown replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Herbert…should’ve offered more for him. Next thread up, Panthers haven’t traded to draft a QB since Cam left and how that has worked so far. Seriously. We know a worthwhile FA isn’t coming here. We also know this team won’t tank properly. Soooooo what do you propose exactly? Keep sifting through trash? I said the day Tepper took over and Cam left this franchise won’t turn around until it started taking chances at DRAFTING a QB and I stand by it. I’d rather take the chance. -
Tepper clearly wants to change the Panthers identity
onmyown replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sorry don’t believe it. This is just a toy for Tepper. If he truly cared he’d hire consultants. He be more self aware. He isn’t qualified. And honestly he doesn’t care. If we do well he wants to be the reason and wants the credit. Could take ten years, could be never - that fact isn’t important to him and that’s the problem. -
I agree and to be clear when I say consultants, I mean they should help with a GM hire more so than a coach. Fitt isn’t the answer. We need a GM.
-
This doesn’t really make sense. Business, contracts, and football are all not only very broad subjects but very different and a specialist at one isn’t at the other. To that point, I highly doubt she knows more about hiring a HC than a lot of people, Tepper included. Just because they’re owners doesn’t mean poo. Overall there is zero evidence the people making the decisions are able to made good ones, in fact, quite the contrary. However, there ARE specialists in making these kind of decisions. JR hired consultants that led to a hire that led to a Super Bowl. However when an owner who has already solidified himself with the worst results a company has seen in 30 years says fug those consultants, I’ll still make these decisions and now include my wife…well it’s pretty clear to any average person this is just some dumb poo.
-
in fairness it didn’t exactly seem easy to do worse that JR by just about all measurements… somehow Tepper made it look like a piece of fuging cake weird to say how much I miss JR and his slightly below average ways

No reason Sam can’t be signed back up money and play until he shits the bed 5 games in and we can play the rookie we trade up for and be a good back up for years to come. It’s comical to me most Sam haters who can’t even see he is a decent back up thought PJ was better and even starter material lmao
-
Trade up. For those worried about price, think about this, we’ve had a top 10 pick for years and never traded it. And yet we strung together 5 win seasons. And overachieved and got 7 this year. Still a losing team. You need a QB. And a nice FA isn’t coming here. I didn’t always agree with this strategy, but this isn’t an elite owner, coaching or scouting franchise that can win off average/game managing QBs. Should’ve learned with Cam. It’s the only way.

What about all the articles that come out that reference FO personnel, coaches, and players that have stated examples of franchises not playing to win for draft picks including the recent Dolphin scenario? I assume you’re saying they’re liars?

Report: Panthers to interview Jim Caldwell, Frank Reich
onmyown replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper is an idiot, way out of his realm, and too egotistical to get out of his own way. How in the world can anyone look back at creating the worst stretch in a 30 year franchise history and NFL in general, then turn around and still think they should be making decisions? What a complete, unaware dumbass. I get bringing in lots of options, but seriously, who here would bet on Tepper securing the best candidate? Anyone? -
No Jim Harbaugh - Carolina focusing attention elsewhere
onmyown replied to therealmjl's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is a huge difference in giving control to a small school door to door salesman and an odd, but proven big time winner at the NFL level. Big time coaches like Payton will also want control, he’s already said so. There is also something to say for someone who thinks it’s all the same. That is stupidity, but likely Tepper’s logic. Tepper has absolutely no idea what he’s doing per usual and the fact that he’s hesitant on Harbaugh just makes me want him more. Harbaugh doesn’t mix well with big ego guys since he himself has one, however he will give Tepper exactly what he wants - a winning football team in the least amount of time possible. The difference in the Vikings is they appear to know what they were doing with an alternative choice. So makes sense. Tepper is a god damn idiot as we all know and you can 100% bet his alternate choice is some dumbassery. -
Are you watching the Panthers tomorrow
onmyown replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ll be watching but I can’t for the life of me understand even just one good reason for a win. So Darnold and Wilks are playing for elsewhere…and? as a Panther fan I want a higher pick. Is corral able to play? -
Jim Harbaugh flirting with the Carolina Panthers UPDATE
onmyown replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you hate excuses and hater talk you must’ve hated the Cam era. He had the 17th ranked oline and that was more of an excuse than Sam’s 31st ranked. Don’t get me started on coaches lol… In any case Darnold is a legit back up in this league. But aside from a draft pick what other options are there? Corral’s ceiling is Darnold despite homers. FAs worth a poo aren’t coming here, plenty of proof for that. Would be nice to spend a high pick or trade up for a QB everyone believes is the future, let Sam start and put in the rookie when things go to crap.
