  1. They seem to have landed a great HC/GM combo. Brad Holmes deserves as much credit as well.
  2. I already stated in another thread I could see Morgan as GM and Evero as head coach. The line of thinking is no up and comer would see this a desirable landing spot and certainly wouldn't choose it over other opportunities out there or even staying put. Then it also makes sense for Morgan and Evero, as they weren't going to be offered these promotions elsewhere. They get a shot to go out and prove themselves. If it fails miserably, then we can blow it up all over again in a year or 2 max. By this time the new regime would at least be given a chance to come in with all draft capital and no commitment to Bryce Young.
  3. I don’t disagree with you.But it’s also true that this is such an undesirable landing spot right now for a Coach or GM. If someone has an offer from us and any other vacancy there’s not much reason to choose coming here.
  4. Even if he is, it doesent mean he will be here next year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lame duck year of him a GM and Evero as HC. Survive another year of misery and give those to 2 a chance to shock all of us and do enough to keep their jobs beyond 1 year. If they fail, then you can reboot and allow the new GM/Coach combo come into a situation where they will actually have a first round pick and enough evidence to move on from Young.
  5. The coaches with the most proven history of winning are: Belichick, 71: 300 wins, .647 win % 6 Superbowl wins** Reid,65: 258 wins, .641 win % 2 Superbowl wins Tomlin, 51: 173 wins, .633 win % 1 Superbowl win McCarthy, 60:167 wins, .620 win % 1 Superbowl win Payton, 60:160 wins, .620 win % 1 Superbowl win John Harbaugh ,61: 160 wins, .618 win % 1 Superbowl win Carroll, 72: 170 wins, .586 win % 1 Superbowl win Smaller sample size of wins but still high win %: Lafleur, 44: 56 wins .675 win% Mcdermott,49: 73 wins, .640 win% Mcvay,37: 70 wins 609 win % 1 Superbowl win Kyle Shanahan,44: 70 wins .557 win % All of the coaches above minus (Payton) have been with the same team since 2019. Here's how they rank in just the last 5 seasons: edit: Mccarthy joined the cowboys in 2020 Reid 63-20 Mcderomott 58-24 Lafleur 56-27 Harbaugh 56-27 Shannahan 54-29 Tomlin 48-34-1 (19-15 since Roethlisberger retired) Carroll 48-35 McVay 46-37 Belichick 41-42 (29-38 since Brady left) Mccarthy 42-25( joined cowboys in 2020, Payton 42-24 (didn't coach last year) (17-17 without Drew Brees) Current streak of consecutive winning seasons (defined by as above .500 record) Reid, 11 Mcdermott, 5 Tomlin, 4, (Never below 8-8 record ever, since he took over in 2007) Shannahan, 3 McCarthy, 3 Harbaugh, 2 Carroll, 2 (only 1 losing season since 2012, 7-10 in 2021) Postseason Records Belichick 31-13 6 Superbowl wins (01,03,04,14,16,18) last playoff win was 2016 Reid 23-16 2 Superbowl wins (2019,2022) Last playoff win was this year and still in playoffs this year Harbaugh 11-9 1 Superbowl win (2012) last playoff win was after 2020 season Caroll 11-11 1 Superbowl win (2013) last playoff win was after 2019 season McCarthy 11-11: 1 Superbowl win (2010) Last playoff win was after 22 season Payton 9-8 1 Superbowl win (2009) Last playoff win was after 2020 season Tomlin 8-10 1 Superbowl win (2008)- Last playoff win was after 2016 season McVay 7-4 1 Superbowl win (2021) Last playoff win was after 2021 season Shannahan 6-3 Last playoff win was last year and(1st round bye) still in playoffs this year McDermott 5-5 Last playoff win was this year and still in playoffs this year Lafleur 3-3 Last playoff win was this year and still in playoffs this year Andy Reid is the only one to have sustained success with multiple teams and multiple QB'S starting for him. Reid, is leading in almost every category, except for those that Belicheck holds. That being said, all of BB's success is tied to Brady. Reid has won with multiple QB'S and 2 teams. In Philly he won with Mcnabb, Kolb, Vick. In KC he was won with, Alex Smith and Mahomes. Belicheck will always have the Wins and 6 superbowl championships. He's also lost countless assistants to other HC promotions and front office people over all those years. However he's not looked so great post Brady. Tomlin has done a hell of a job with the same organization since he took over in 07. He has even surpassed Cowher now in wins. It's hard to separate his success from that of Big Ben, much like BB and Brady. McCarthy also owes much of his success to mainly Aaron Rodgers, however he was won with Prescott and even Cooper Rush when Prescott got injured. He's an interesting case as his overall record took a hit in his last 2 years in Green Bay and his first year with Dallas. But the cowboys have gone 12-5 in each of the last 3 seasons. Payton owes almost all of his success to Brees and bounty gate. Harbaugh has had either Flacco or Lamar since taking over. So he's not really faced to much trouble with finding a good QB either Carroll's bulk of wins came under Russ. 2 losing seasons prior to him. However he's had a winning record with Geno Smith at the helm the last 2 years. McDermott has been blessed with Josh Allen McVay has had Goff and Stafford his whole tenure. Shannahan has had the least impressive QB'S to work with: Garappolo, Beathard, Mullens, Hoyer and now Purdy. So he has certainly done the most with the least at the QB position since he became a head coach in 2017. My final thoughts are this: Reid is the best coach in the NFL right now. If you want youth, then Shannahan is the best offensive minded head coach and Mcdermott is the best defensive minded head coach.
  6. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes and how the blame should be distributed but we are clearly the worst opening available. Worst record in the league last year No first round pick Heavy investment into a QB you or the incoming coach didn't choose. Tied with Jets for worst record since Tepper took over in 2018. Have regressed in terms of talent and assets each year. There is no real silver lining to taking a job here if you are an up and comer. Maybe if you are someone who's been around a long time and just wanting to capitalize on one final contract this might be ideal, otherwise not a whole lot to like about working here right now.
  7. I literally just watched the first half of that game on YouTube the other day. Was feeling nostalgic and also went back and watched the first half of that game plus the 97 NBA all star game where Glen Rice went off in the 2nd half and won MVP.
  8. Since this date back in 2019 the Panthers have the worst record amongst the entire NFL. 18-48. Sadly 33% of those wins came in Wilks 12 game stretch to close out the season last year. Remove the 12 game stretch under Wilks and we have a record of 12-42 since 2019. Since Tepper bought the team in 2018 we have a combined record of 29-59. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/worst-nfl-record-since-october-17th-2019
  9. It was the Buc’s in the early days of the division. I don’t think we actually have one now.
  10. I can’t believe Jakes first game was coming up on 20 years ago. I’ll never forget the roar of the crowd when he replaced Rodney Peete in the 2nd half, as he his play was abysmal and left us down 17-0. At first everyone assumed it was Weinke coming in but shocked when we saw that number 17 but the crowd was just ecstatic to see anyone but Peete come back out. While I don’t remember each play specifically I’ll never forget the feeling of watching him take command of the huddle and lead an improbably comeback to win 24-23. Absolutely one of the funnest games I’ve ever attended. A perfect beginning to a season that left us as close you can get to winning a Super Bowl.
  11. I personally think hitting on any pick at this point is like winning some sort of lottery. Now is not the time to try and fill needs, that time has passed as you can’t reasonably expect anyone outside the top 100 to be an immediate impact player. That being said solid depth players that you can groom would be good to find here. Whatever we end up with here I’m good with unless it’s another long snapper who isn’t going to beat out J.J
  12. Panthers will play against AR15,Levis and Stroud this year, assuming they all start since we play the AFC south this year.
  13. Let’s start with the cardinals. They crushed it. Didn’t need a QB and could have had their top choice of any non QB in the draft. Instead they prioritized O-line help and got the first Tackle off the board(picks 10 and 11 were also Offensive tackles and they were sitting at 12 at the first trade). Over a series of 2 trades they only moved back 3 spots, picked up pick 81 this year and a 1st and 3rd from Texans next year. That’s insanely good value to move down 3 spots while only giving up pick 105 and 168. Good for them! For the Texans that worked out fairly well too in terms of instant gratification of getting a top tier QB and non QB of their choice but man I don’t think I wouldn’t have given up the next years 1st and 3rd to make that deal happen. Seemed way too rich on compensation. Now Lions, I just don’t understand their plight either. They were essentially sitting on their choice of the 3rd Non QB player available and dropped 6 spots to grab the 2nd running back taken?? Yes they got the 34th pick too but if I were a Lions fan I don’t think I’d be too happy, especially when you look at the compensation the cardinals just got to move back 3 spots vs 6 spots they just did. I know there were other much smaller scale trades and feel free to add them to the discussion but the ones above really stood out to me.
  14. I have to disagree here. Have Sunday ticket for my wife who is a Giants fan. Daniel Jones carried them last year more than you’d think.
