Final Say..the S2 scores that were leaked aren't accurate
amcoolio replied to PanthersGOATFan336's topic in Carolina Panthers
He didn't say that the 18% wasn't accurate....if anything he just damned CJ even more, because that 18% score came when he was tired, hungry, didn't want to do it, late at night, a bunch of other excuses. How will CJ be able to process information during the 4th quarter of a night game? I don't know, but it still seems very bad for CJ. This coming from a CJ fan and would have been happy if he was the pick. Also what is "significantly higher the second time" from 18%? I mean 52% is significantly higher. -
ESPN lays off employees, with more cuts to come
amcoolio replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
They gave Buck and Aikman 30 million a year combined and now I imagine will cut a lot of lower level employees making less than 200,000 to make up for it -
Could a trade be on the horizon...(Vegas shift at number 2)
amcoolio replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mayfield doesn't have the intelligence, processing, or work ethic of Young. Young will only fail if he gets constantly injured. If he stays healthy all year, he's already the best quarterback we've had since 2017, even as a rookie -
It's the S2 test (processing) along with the ability to make good decisions and ability throw the football. Bryce makes good decisions and can make all the throws. I'm sure there are average people walking around that can achieve 99% scores on this test, but they aren't NFL QB's. Levis can be a great QB if he limits the bad decisions. He actually might go 4th ahead of Stroud, that's what the insiders are thinking.
-
On Russilo's podcast yesterday, DJ and McShay say they are hearing Levis at 4 even if Stroud is there, which is bizarre. They are also saying they don't know any of the teams that wants to spend the pick in the top 11 on Richardson, and that if he doesn't go 12 to Houston (Houston is leaning towards Tyree or Anderson at 2), they don't know where Richardson can go, maybe all the way to the end of the first and a team trading back into the first to take him

???????????????????????????????????? They talk about upping the fines, ejections, suspensions every year. For hitting a QB in the head, in his legs, or even just driving him into the ground. This was not the case 10 years ago.
-
Size isn't an issue. It's whether or not he learns how not to get hit, like Drew Brees and Tom Brady. And the NFL is increasingly making it harder to hit the QB every year.
-
He plays similar to Mahomes and Rodgers, but he gets the Wilson/Brees label because of his size.

OFFICIAL: Bryce Young cancels remaining team visits
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wonder if Charlie's source inside the org is gone, last 5 years he's locked down the Panthers pick around this time but his mock today he says he's still unsure what they are doing. He was the only national draft analyst to say that Panthers were going Jaycee Horn unless Sewell was still there, and that they removed Slater and Fields off their board. Regardless it appears he's going with Young who seems to be the pick with all the hoopla and betting action today, unless we are all getting fooled. -
The team probably thinks Bryce is worth the gamble, and I agree. Maybe Bryce and his team have convinced the Panthers that they have been working on his body and ability to avoid hits. Again I don't care about his size, just about him avoiding hits. If healthy he is definitely better than Tua, and healthy Tua was a beast this year. A part of me still thinks this is a giant game by the Panthers to extort the Texans into giving pick 33 or the Cleveland first next year. I still think the Panthers are in good shape with either QB, but Stroud would not fair well with the Texans because they have no offensive development experience, so they'd rather pass on QB if they can't get Young.

Bryce Young Film Breakdown Megathread
amcoolio replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just load him up on some HGH and accept the 8 game suspension (Dalton time) and then you are ready to roll -
I still think this is a giant smokescreen and we are trying to make the Texans panic into give us 32 and 2 for 1, and that we like both Stroud and Young equally

Albert Breer: Bryce Young scored 98 on his S2 teat
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Shows he’s prepared and dedicated. Not sure why you wouldn’t want that in an QB. -
David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Every other league is fine. NBA is a 2.5 weeks after the finals. NHL 1 week. MLB during the season. NFL isn't some special league that needs so much time to evaluate, the scouts are working all year long. -
David Newton: Panthers leaning toward Bryce Young
amcoolio replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's too much time between the end of the CFP, the superbowl, free agency and the draft. The draft should have been this weekend. No excuse to still be 20 days away. -
Yes, its my opinion. If you constantly take big hits and get driven to the ground by a defensive player, it naturally means less durability. Andrew Luck, same thing. Kyler Murray, same thing. Really the only QB that Young plays like that has been very durable is Russell Wilson. So there is precedence that Young can overcome the big hits and being pile driven into the ground. I'm aware that he hasn't had durability issues so far. I'm also not making this into a Stroud vs. Young debate, as I like both QB's and would be thrilled with either one.
-
Young is less durable because he holds on the ball for so long in order to make the big play, whereas Stroud emulates Brees and tries to get the ball out very quickly while still in the pocket Young is the better QB all things considered, but I am concerned about injuries to that throwing shoulder. He also puts a lot of oomph into throwing with his shoulder, whereas Stroud the ball just kind of glides out of his hands.
-
I think they are still 1A and 1B, and we can't go wrong with either.....they are really trying to get the #32 pick in the draft from the Texans, and I think both teams should do it....Stroud needs to be in a much better infrastructure than Young to succeed and I don't think Stroud would with the Texans I also think the Panthers are eying Jaxon Smith-Njigba and would their perfect draft would be to make that trade with Houston, select Stroud at 2, then trade 32 and 39 to get into the teens to draft Jaxon
-
Don't get me wrong, I like Young and would be happy if we went with him. We need to pick the best QB, not the best football mind. I'm sure the coaching staff and McNown would love to have Bryce around, but if he can't hold up or make all the throws, then they need to go with Stroud. I'm sure Tony Romo was lovely to be around as a football genius, but he didn't hold up or become a superstar QB. I'm not worried about Young's height at all, but Young loves to hold the ball for super long amount of time and that will get him some big hits early in his career. Stroud is like Brees or Brady, that bitch better be out before the DE comes around
-
All you have to do is look at the Vegas odds. Stroud is a heavy favorite (I’m in Westgate Sports Book in Vegas right now.). Vegas isn’t wrong. As much as I would be happy with Bryce it’s fairly obvious Stroud will be the pick. Stroud models his game after Brees and Brady and likes getting the ball out fast. That would be a huge, welcome change in the Carolinas and im all for it. Have we ever had a QB like that? I guess Mayfield but he sucked at it. Cam Darnold and Jake all loved holding the ball as long as possible.
-
Like I said before there’s a real chance Richardson is on his 2nd or 3rd team before he puts it together, like Geno Smith. That’s not a player you draft #1 overall. I would say Richardson is a bit more raw than Fields coming out. I don’t want another run first, first read pass guy. I’m ready for great passing. That is what wins playoff games. Richardson is nowhere near the level of Cam Newton coming out of Auburn. Cam was a true dual threat until he got injured in 16/17.

I think the staff is banking on TMJ breaking out and being the #1, big, star receiver, with Chark in the Ginn role and Thielen in the slot

Statistics: There is no correlation btwn QB height and batted passes
amcoolio replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not worried about batted passes or height at all, but Young tends to hold on to the ball for a long time to make a bigger play, and it had a tendency to get him crushed a few times at Alabama. Whereas Stroud rarely takes hits becuase he wants the ball out fast
