  1. Much like RR, I like Wilks the man. I think he would be a great DC, but too reminiscent of Rivera/Fox as a HC. That style of play is a lot harder to equate to success in the current NFL. I too had hopes for Wilks if he went on a run and showed that he learned from his AZ days. One game does not make/break him, but losing to PIT was not a good look. If he can run the tables and get us into the post-season, I think he gets the job. If not, on to the next shiny toy. Johnson, Steichen, Reich make the most sense.
  2. Thoughts on who you would want that checks all of these boxes?
  3. I am not a pro-tanker, but after watching yesterday, I just want the season to end. Even if we get in, we will get smoked at home by a competent Team. Struggling against Trubisky at home with what was on the line is all I need to see. The Ravens and Bengals are a better litmus test for us and we did not fare well. Defenses are now stacking the box, and are daring Darnold to beat us. Being in the top-5 and getting a shot at Young, Stroud, Carter, Anderson or Murphy is huge.
  4. Agree with the poster that says that yesterday's game was way too much of a flashback to a Fox/Rivera copy and paste game. If Wilks doesn't get the job, I think a finger can be pointed to yesterday's L. He said all the right things after the 'Hawks game, got the fans energized and hope for a playoff spot, coined a phenomenal phrase for home games and had us pointed in the right direction. He follows that up with a W yesterday and I think he moves much closer to the permanent position. I'm really pulling for him, but today feels way too much like the past five years' Mondays.
  5. Run the ball Stop the run Win in the trenches on both sides Get off the field on 3rd down Time of possession We accomplished zero of these which is a pretty solid formula to win in the NFL. We were outcoached and both our offensive and defensive gameplans were JV-level of coaching. It felt like a Ron Rivera kinda L for sure.
  6. Watching a WR duo like Metcalf/Lockett makes me want QJ from TCU. I also thought Mayer was nicknamed Baby Gronk. Wouldn’t be mad with either he or Johnston in our offense. Johnston-DJ-TMJ-Shenault
  7. What happened yesterday was something that I don’t think Rhule ever had…..a signature win. Going into Seattle in December with their playoff/Division hopes in front of them, and leaving with a confident W was huge for Wilks and Co.
  8. I really, really want to fall in love with Richardson as "our guy". I haven't watched a ton of him, but do feel that his game vs. FSU is who you're getting. Flashes of eye-popping ability, but mostly inconsistent play that makes you wanting more of the flashes. Odds are he blows away the combine and pro day, has solid interviews and goes top-12.
  9. Are we talking about OC's when it comes to coaching? If it's HC, I'm confused....isn't every team trying to find the next McVay? Is the intent meant to be Campbell > McVay?
  10. Huuuuge for Stroud if he can step up. Doesn't have to win, but has to show that he can handle an NFL-calibre defense. Make reads......go off-script....handle the stress/pressure. I don't foresee an OSU win, but if Stroud can have a Fields-esque Clemson performance, he could overtake Young for QB1.
  11. Dude is somewhere between Manziel and Baker. Transfer portal.....to join Rhule at Nebraska?! He'll be drafted at 23 years old and then turn 24 in September of 2023.
  12. The upside to missing out on the "Top-4" is snagging a guy like Mayer or Johnston to help the offense. Our OL looks set up for success as long as we bring back Bozeman. Looking at the 'Hawks with Geno and the Niners with Jimmy G makes me think that if we miss out on Stroud/Young, that we are a good HC/OC and decent QB away from a playoff push.
  13. True....I meant more that we could bring TD in as a consultant or in a way similar to Luke and Smitty stopping by practices. Lend his own personal thoughts on the ins and outs of NFL life and what he did to maintain health while facing adversity.
  14. Draft Carter to put beside Brown or Anderson/Murphy at DE and watch Burns thrive. He's been producing at a high level with minimal help in the trenches the past 2+ years.
  15. If we can find a more dynamic OC and Offensive Coaches (sans Campen), I think Wilks could work here. I do wonder how Reich would look as a HC, but agreed about the "unknown" with guys like Steichen/Johnson/Ryans.
  16. Richardson: 54% - 2549 passing yards - 17 TD/9 INT - 650 rushing yards - 9TD Levis: 65%- 2406 passing yards - 19 TD/10 INT - -107 rushing yards - 2TD Penix: 66% - 4354 passing yards - 29 TD/7 INT - 86 rushing yards - 4TD 2 ACL tears and a shoulder injury are what's keeping Penix out of the top-15, along with the Pac-12's lack of defense. I feel that a relationship with TD and getting a conditioning program in place with a HOF that had 3 ACL tears could work here. Carter/Anderson/Mayer in R1 and come back with Penix in R2.
  17. Let's wait and see how it looks after next week's games, eh? We could be right back in the top-4 after sitting out with a bye week. As long as we end up in the top-4, we're looking good. Young-Stroud-Carter-Anderson are all franchise-changing selections.
  18. Penix is going to make some team very happy. I've watched a lot of UW games and would be stoked if we got him (assuming we miss out on Stroud/Young). I believe as many discount Young due to his size, the same argument/concerns could be made about Penix's injury history. Kid is a high first round talent outside of his injuries. Ideal build, athleticism, cannon for an arm, mobile, accurate, assesses the field and has experience. Pac-12 doesn't field the best competition, so that would be a negative.
  19. Agreed that Dane is one of the best in the biz, but can also have differing opinions. Brugler has McKee as his QB4, Hooker as QB5 and doesn't have AR in his top-50.
  20. True. I do think the east coast bias is a real thing and lack of coverage for UW. If they can get a tough matchup against an SEC team in their bowl game and dominate, it could help. Medicals at the combine and pro day will be critical. If not for the ACL tears and shoulder injury, he checks every other box.
  21. Watching Penix, Jr vs. a horrible Colorado team should be fun. I think his stock will creep ever so closer to late 1st - early 2nd round material. If we go Anderson/Carter R1, I'd like him in R2. He could be our new Thomas Davis rebuilt cyborg.
  22. BPA. Given OPs scenario, I think Breese, Johnson or Mayer would be the answer. Come back for Richardson either late 1st or if he’s there with your R2 pick, he should be the sit and stash QB for the new regime. DJ/TMJ/Laviska/Mayer/Tremble would be a helluva unit for Richardson behind our OL.
  23. By far the biggest blow to our '22 season was Corral being out for the year. We had a feeling Rhule and Co. would not make it through the year. To have Corral out there right now taking his lumps and seeing if he has potential would be so helpful. If somehow we miss out on Young/Stroud and end up gambling on Richardson, Corral could have a shot. It might not be the new regime's "guy", but Corral would have a year of film room and being at this level over Richardson, who is probably a two-year project.
  24. I think Young's trajectory ends up somewhere in between Tua and Kyler. Maybe that's being lazy....idk. Watching Kyler and Tua run around, the height difference jumps off the screen. I'm not saying Young can't make it nor would I be mad if we took him per se. The kid definitely needs to add 15-20 lbs in the weight room for sure. From a stature standpoint, I think Young is closer to Flutie than Russ.
