Darnold is the only one in that convo that I would look into. However, I really do think NYJ hold onto him. He's talented and the new regime is light years ahead of Gase and his awful staff.

Watson not the only big name vet at QB that we're looking at?
Soul Rebel replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
$33M in '21 $26M in '22 Whoooooo, that's a lotta dough. Obvy, Bridgewater would have to be part of any deal, but with a lot of areas of need and sending draft picks to get Stafford, I'm not a fan. It would be great to have him here, but a 33 year old non-mobile QB with an OL that is in need of at least 2 (maybe 3) new players, I don't think Suleiman can make this happen. The draft picks that would have to be sent would severely hamper our adding talent via the draft on cheap deals for the next year or two. -
Looks like we were eyeing him last year as well. Can't hurt if we are looking at Watson and Stafford, but this looks like a Rhule desire that didn't come to fruition last offseason. Bigger picture could be grooming the next OC when Brady eventually moves on. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2020/1/15/21066854/detroit-lions-avoid-losing-qb-coach-sean-ryan-to-panthers

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but do you think Cam's previous experience here would be a subject discussed between him and Watson? I always felt like Cam was a big brother to Watson going back to their time in Cam's QB program. I wonder if Deshaun was pondering his options, if Cam would speak negatively about Tepper/Rhule and how his departure was handled. I feel like Deshaun and Cam have a tight relationship and Watson would really listen to Cam on the biggest decision of the young QBs life.

Kinda diggin' the rebrand to the Carolina Panther.

Not a huge fan of Trask or Mond, but heavily invested in Newman. I think he has a lot to prove, but if he can shine at the Sr. Bowl and then put on a top-notch pro-day/interview/combine, I am 100% in on him with our 3rd rounder.

Carolina Panthers 1st round draft mini breakdown
Soul Rebel replied to Verge's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
I see more Baker Mayfield than Manziel, personally. I also think the 6'3" is inflated, though I have seen a pic of him beside Brees and Wilson is taller by a couple of inches. I like Lance and think some of the comps to Cunningham and Watson are solid examples. After the combine, I think lots of folks are going to be all over Lance. TL won't compete, Fields might be hurt and Wilson might underperform. Lance has the measurables and SPARC potential to reel a lot of folks in. Lawrence Fields Wilson Lance Sewell Parsons Farley Surtain II Slater Chase Smith We won't get TL, but lots of names to drool over. -
I did see an article about this and it looks like opening too soon was an issue in SF during the 1918 flu... https://www.businessinsider.com/what-san-francisco-can-learn-spanish-flu-pandemic-coronavirus-1918 I do believe that we have to find a balance in order to start getting back to life, but striking that balance is no easy task. Open too soon, virus spreads again. Stay at home, economy crashes deeper.

Wow.....scary to think about.

This may have already been said, but I wonder how many hospitals and examiner offices chalked up deaths in November/December to pneumonia/flu/respiratory issues. Seems like Covid kinda resembles pneumonia and during the winter months, especially with the elderly, this could be overlooked. Especially when nations were so convinced that it was an "Asia" issue early on, similar to SARS or H1N1. Regardless, the death totals being reported worldwide are probably so far and away from the actual number, it would scare a lot of folks.

My issue with the WRs is Ginn. I love the chemistry between he and Cam, and there's no doubt that he came up big for us last year without KB. However, after 2016, do we really retain a 32-year old veteran, when there's a 25-year old Philly Brown sitting there? I believe Ginn will be here this year, but he's also taking a roster slot from one of the potential youngsters. If Hill and Norwood continue to push, we need to hold onto them. What about Byrd? Garrett? It's crazy how loaded we are and that's why I truly hope we keep 6 on the roster this year. After this season it gets easier when Ginn leaves. KB-Funch-Brown, and then two of Byrd, Garrett, Hill, and Norwood. -
Out here on Seattle radio, they're talking up Henry at 26. They, much like us, have several more important needs (OL, LB, DE) but a Marshawn Lynch replacement that runs as forceful and nasty as Lynch makes a lot of sense. He was in town last week visiting, for whatever thats worth. John Schneider is one of the best in the bizz (along with DG), so Henry at the end of the first isn't such a crazy thought. Not that I needed a Seahawks GM to let me know this, but just to put to bed that Henry is only a 2nd round pick is a silly thought. If DG thinks that Henry fits what the Panthers want to do on offense, and others on the board (Lawson, Robinson, etc.) are not there, Henry would be a good pick for us. There's always an argument to be made against a player in the draft (Star had health concerns, KB had drops, Shaq was a tweener). I can argue why not to take most players you toss out there at 30, but I'd rather focus on how they fit with us. A guy like Henry is a rare once-in-a-blue moon RB. He could be a classic 'Bama back that flames out in the NFL with only a handful of good plays, or he could be an Eric Dickerson/Marshawn Lynch kind of matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Nobody knows, but I trust our front office to make the right call. Funny thing is..... all of this Henry debate could be for naught 10 days from now when we step to the podium and draft ...... I'm so stoked for this game to start. Biggest home game in franchise history?? I feel like we've said that a couple of times this year already, but it's gotta be. BofA was rocking last weekend, and I can only imagine 75k fans should be standing for 3+ hours today...... or they better be! I was at the New Orleans monsoon game and never experienced a professional game like that in person. I hope today exceeds that and we make Panther Nation proud. 3.40pm can't get here quick enough..... guess I've gotta start drinking now.

Panthers to wear Blue Pants? Here is what it may look like...
Soul Rebel replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm good with it. Black on black is still amazing, but I feel like our W-L record is awful with them on. Are we scheduled to wear the black/black again at any point this season? I know we usually wait until the latter part of the season to sport the dark colors. -
Win a framed and autographed print of "Luke in the Rain"
Soul Rebel replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Luke may go down as the Greatest Panther of all time, once it's all said and done. I'm just happy that he is signed long-term and even happier that I was at that game in the rain and felt BOA shake, rattle and rumble. @BryanPalmese -
I don't understand Rivera's affection with Joe Webb. I get the flexibility of keeping a player that can play WR and QB rather than having to sign a 3rd string QB, but, IMO, I don't think Webb brings more talent to our roster than the potential of losing Byrd or Ward. Webb had 1 reception for 16 yards and 2 kickoffs for 53 yards. I fail to see Byrd not being able to at least hit those marks. I get that he doesn't play QB, but I really hope there's a way that we maximize the talent on the 53 man roster.

I'd say a Gio Bernard/Frank Gore hybrid. The elusiveness and vision of Bernard, but not the speed. Not as punishing as Gore, but hits the hole with purpose and is a versatile back.

It's quite possible that this is Gettleman's best draft class. Love Shaq for the future, Funchess' untapped potential, but Williams is quickly creeping to the top of my list of '15 draftees. I'd prefer seeing Remmers get time at LT and let the Williams-Turner duo steamroll the right side of the line all day, but whatever it takes to put the 5 best guys with chemistry together to win.

Don't want to risk placing him on the PS and having him get Gaffney'd. I think rolling with 7 WRs isn't a bad thing, especially since it's so uncommon for us to do so. For me, it's shaking down like this: Benji - no brainer Brown - ideal slot guy and has enough skill to play a little WR2 if needed Cotchery - great veteran presence that can be a reliable 3rd down WR Funchess - too much potential with him to not see the field opposite KB Ginn - prefer him on ST, but like the ability to contribute here and there on offense Bersin - horrible on ST, but a true possession receiver that can move the chains and be a good, young WR4 Byrd - lots of potential here. can't teach speed and Byrd is full of it. ST contributor in '15 and maybe a few gadget plays on offense. I really hope both Byrd and Ward can snag a spot on the final 53.

Though Oher is not a longterm answer, I'm willing to be patient with his presence at LT. I'd feel more comfortable if they were experimenting with Remmers out there some too, just to kick the tires on if it's an option or not. Back to Oher though. I agree with MHS in that it's between his ears. I also am willing to believe that a player's worth and predictable performance over 5 months of the season can't be seen after a handful of light contact practice in sweltering Spartanburg. At the end of the day, Oher has a lot of mental blockages that he needs to remove sooner, rather than later. The toe injury is huge, as well as his performances over the past couple of seasons. Yes, the two are connected, but at some point, he either has to put it behind him, or move aside for someone that won't hurt the team. Oher is better than Bell and as long as the other 4 members to his right play like they are capable of, Oher will be fine. I'm not expecting an All-Pro season for him, but an average (2012 Jordan Gross would do) year will be fine. I really hope Oher can step up and be a mediocre T.

Anthony Collins makes a lot of sense in a back-up role.... but if he just needs a change of scenery, could hold the fort down until Williams is ready. 29 years old and not as injury prone as Long or Baker, I'd be happy with a Collins signing. I assume there's enough money left in the pot to make this happen. Maybe Collins is "too good" for the money it would cost for the level of player it takes to replace Martin, so Getts will sign some cast-off practice squad player that was a UDFA out of St.Cloud State.
