  1. You do realize that if we draft a QB vs. getting a vet, that Teddy is starting the year under center. Fields, Wilson, Lance, Newman, etc. are not ready to get thrown to the dogs week 1. That was the plan when he was signed, and I don't see why it wouldn't be the plan for at least the first 40-50% of the season.
  2. Any chance GB would trade Jordan Love? Based on how Rodgers played this year, he looks like he's got a solid 3-4 years easily left in the tank. He outplayed Brady in the NFCG and really looked like his time in GB is not as close to an end as last year. If GB keeps reloading the missing pieces (which aren't many), their window looks like 3 years. Would Love sit for 3-4 years and GB burn 75% of that rookie deal that he's sitting on?
  3. I apparently can't count this morning....hehe. Newman would be 5th. Personally, I have it as: Lawerence Fields | Wilson Lance Newman Jones | Trask
  4. I honestly want Newman if we miss out on the Big-4. I could see us drafting him in the 3rd, or if he really shines at the Sr. Bowl & his pro day, we make a move like we did for Chinn last year. I believe Newman is the 4th best QB in this draft. He def fits the Fitterer MO too.
  5. I agree that we are one year ahead of Detroit, but I would argue that Robby is on par with Golladay, and the latter is only 27. CMC might be RB1, but Swift will be a top-8 back in the NFL very, very soon...the kid is dangerous. If I'm Matt Stafford, Carolina isn't moving the needle for me when there's teams like Pittsburgh, Indy, and SF that are so much closer than us.
  6. I want to fall for Radunz, but much like Billy Turner (who I loved), he was more of a jack-of-all, master of none, above average OL from NDSU that never lived up to his ceiling coming out.
  7. Could play Humphrey at G until Paradis is no longer with us. I think if we did not draft a QB at 8 and went: R1: Slater/Sewell R2: Humphrey/Davis R3: Trade for Darnold or draft Newman We could roll out a Moton-Humphrey-Paradis-Miller-Slater OL and give whoever our QB is a healthy, young and strong OL.
  8. I really don't want anything to do with Jones or Trask in this draft, and would personally wait on Newman. I think all of the big-4 QBs are gone by 5 and if we desire one of them, we best call Cincy. Jax and Detroit for sure are going QB at 1, and presumably 7, respectively. I think NYJ and MIA (Watson and then HOU takes a QB) are ripe for trade backs for QB needy teams, and possibly Cincy if the OT they like isn't there. ATL could also certainly consider a QB at 4. Denver and SF are nipping at our heels at 9 and 12. NE at 15 WAS, CHI, INDY at 19, 20, & 21 are all in need, though I do think Stafford goes to one of these teams.
  9. Sewell (probably not happening) Slater Farley/Surtain II - different schemes and attributes, but both are CB1s in the NFL Parsons - Favorite player and gives us Luke 2.0, but more of a luxury pick given other holes
  10. I think one of these three are on our roster in 2021-22 as the heir apparent to Teddy's starting spot (in no particular order) - Darnold Lance Newman I think Watson will gut us of assets and we won't be able to improve the roster enough around him in his prime. I think Stafford doesn't make sense for us and the #8 is too high of a pick to give up for him Wentz is damaged goods Jimmy G is overpayed and mediocre Rodgers ain't going anywhere Trubisky & Winston doesn't move the needle anymore than Teddy B did, IMO Dak goes back to Dallas and can't afford him
  11. Stafford makes more sense to Indy, SF, Pittsburgh or Chicago. Teams that were in the playoffs and are in need of a QB upgrade. I also feel like that's the area of 1st round draft pick value that Stafford is due. I think our #8 is too much for him. I like Stafford, but I feel like for all of those poo-pooing on wins and not seeing the long-game process of rebuilding this team for a resulting 10-6 team, this is essentially the same move. Rhule & Tepper have preached that Rome wasn't built in a day, so making a move in year 2 for a QB that will be 33 next month doesn't seem like the right move. I won't be mad if it happens, bc I like Stafford....I just think this move is a year or two too early.
  12. I see a lot of Baker Mayfield with Wilson. Frame, mobility and arm. I think Wilson is more accurate, but Baker had played more competitive teams than Wilson. Daniel Jeremiah thinks he's the real deal and compared his release and arm to Rodgers. FWIW, DJ also has not really said too many negative comments about all 4 QBs so I honestly think any of the big-4 would succeed with us. I would be real disappointed if we give up tons of draft assets to move up for one of these guys and then watch Lance go at 8.
  13. I know this has been a theme during the latter part of the year, but I honestly don't remember any of this prior to 2020. In 2019, he had over 3000 yds passing, 41 TDs and only 3 picks....along with almost 500 yds on the ground and 10 more TDs. Other than the Indiana, Northwestern and part of the 'Bama game, I don't recall games where Fields didn't look like the best QB not named Lawerence. Fields was a stud in 2019 I'm pretty confident that TL and ZW have had at least 3 games over their careers where they had a bad day and if you put film on of them, it looks rough. This isn't anything directed at you LG, just more of a question about other games over the past 3 years of other games.
  14. According to Fitterer, we will be in on all conversations. He also believes the SB success in Seattle had a lot to do with RW on a rookie contract. I also feel like the year they drafted Wilson, they signed Flynn to a HUGE contract to be their starter. The 'Hawks were always aggressive in pursuits of targets as well as moving around the draft, so IDK what direction the braintrust is leaning. It would appear that DW would both go for, as well as against Fitterer's vision and mantra. I could see Tepper wanting DW at all costs. I could see Rhule wanting to draft a QB and bring this process along slowly without gutting the team of draft and player capital. In Fitterer We Trust.
  15. Though I'd love it, I don't see how we make a deal more appealing than what the NYJ or MIA can offer him without setting our team back 4-5 seasons with lost assets. NYJ: Darnold (25 yr old QB former #3 overall pick), 2021 #2 overall pick, 2021 #23 overall pick MIA: Tua (23 yr old QB former #5 overall pick), 2021 #3 overall pick, 2021 #18 overall pick ... and, it's South Beach in a state with no income taxes. CAR: Bridgewater (28 yr old QB) or CMC (former #8 overall pick), 2021 #8 pick Watson can veto any trade, so I could see that possibly with NYJ, but Miami....come on. A top-5 NFL QB making $20+million a year and could go be thee premier star in a major metropolis like Miami, why would I go to Carolina over that? Miami is a Watson QB away from being a perennial AFC contender. Flores is a coach that players want to play for, that team is young and knocking on the door of the playoffs. What Houston would ask of us would set us back so far. I'm okay with three years' worth of firsts and Teddy, but after that I think the risk-reward starts to hurt too much. We still have an incomplete OL, no CB1, a dance partner needed for Brown at iDL and three WRs that are within two years of walking. If we overpay, we are no better than Houston was with Watson.
  16. Darnold is the only one in that convo that I would look into. However, I really do think NYJ hold onto him. He's talented and the new regime is light years ahead of Gase and his awful staff.
  17. $33M in '21 $26M in '22 Whoooooo, that's a lotta dough. Obvy, Bridgewater would have to be part of any deal, but with a lot of areas of need and sending draft picks to get Stafford, I'm not a fan. It would be great to have him here, but a 33 year old non-mobile QB with an OL that is in need of at least 2 (maybe 3) new players, I don't think Suleiman can make this happen. The draft picks that would have to be sent would severely hamper our adding talent via the draft on cheap deals for the next year or two.
  18. Looks like we were eyeing him last year as well. Can't hurt if we are looking at Watson and Stafford, but this looks like a Rhule desire that didn't come to fruition last offseason. Bigger picture could be grooming the next OC when Brady eventually moves on. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2020/1/15/21066854/detroit-lions-avoid-losing-qb-coach-sean-ryan-to-panthers
  19. Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but do you think Cam's previous experience here would be a subject discussed between him and Watson? I always felt like Cam was a big brother to Watson going back to their time in Cam's QB program. I wonder if Deshaun was pondering his options, if Cam would speak negatively about Tepper/Rhule and how his departure was handled. I feel like Deshaun and Cam have a tight relationship and Watson would really listen to Cam on the biggest decision of the young QBs life.
  20. Kinda diggin' the rebrand to the Carolina Panther.
  21. Not a huge fan of Trask or Mond, but heavily invested in Newman. I think he has a lot to prove, but if he can shine at the Sr. Bowl and then put on a top-notch pro-day/interview/combine, I am 100% in on him with our 3rd rounder.
  22. I see more Baker Mayfield than Manziel, personally. I also think the 6'3" is inflated, though I have seen a pic of him beside Brees and Wilson is taller by a couple of inches. I like Lance and think some of the comps to Cunningham and Watson are solid examples. After the combine, I think lots of folks are going to be all over Lance. TL won't compete, Fields might be hurt and Wilson might underperform. Lance has the measurables and SPARC potential to reel a lot of folks in. Lawrence Fields Wilson Lance Sewell Parsons Farley Surtain II Slater Chase Smith We won't get TL, but lots of names to drool over.
  23. I did see an article about this and it looks like opening too soon was an issue in SF during the 1918 flu... https://www.businessinsider.com/what-san-francisco-can-learn-spanish-flu-pandemic-coronavirus-1918 I do believe that we have to find a balance in order to start getting back to life, but striking that balance is no easy task. Open too soon, virus spreads again. Stay at home, economy crashes deeper.
