  1. Yeah...no This is too loose for me. CMC was already gone whether we took Bryce or not. It was just a 2nd round pick at that point, nothing more, nothing less. The impact DJ might have had on a hypothetical 2025 2nd swing is also tough to judge when the "hope" in the original argument is that like Chicago we could swing again in 2025 if we suck hard enough this year and next. I still think that argument holds water. This thread is about helping the dude hope, not dashing it. LOL The cupboards are bare, I'm trying.
  2. How are you connecting the CMC trade to the expense of Bryce?
  3. Not to make it worse, but it's effectively down 2.5 games to Atlanta and New Orleans at the moment.
  4. This season was always going to be difficult. No one really thought we were going to light it up with a new staff and rookie QB, they just didn't expect it to look as bad as it has early. The good news is we're going to know a lot more by the end of the season and the jury is definitely still out. ...however, let's consider scorched Earth and a Bryce bust...we may not be as mortgaged as it would seem... It's looking like Chicago is going to have two very high picks just 3 short seasons after selling out for Justin Fields. They traded their 20th overall and 5th rounder + 2022 1st and 4th round picks to move up to 11th in 2021 to take Fields. That's about the same mortgage we took out on Bryce. So, much like Chicago, if we missed, it's not going to be hard to try again in 2025 we just have to commit to sucking for two years. If we didn't miss, then hooray! Hopeful Football!
  5. Every Bryce conversation now starts with "it's too early to write him off" which is not the language we hoped for after two games, but it is too early to write him off.
  6. I just don't see any way BY would get benched. It would be a PR nightmare if the team sparked with Dalton under center. It would have been a much better situation to start Dalton out of the gate and work BY in but that ship has sailed.
  7. We were told from the beginning that Bryce was so sharp he was going to elevate everyone around him. That was a fair expectation considering the brain trust believed it so much we sold the farm to take him first overall. Tepper and Reich have both made public comments that they didn't believe we even needed a true #1 WR with a "point guard" type QB. https://www.panthers.com/news/before-picking-bryce-young-the-panthers-built-an-offense-for-him https://www.panthers.com/news/bryce-young-s-job-to-maximize-superpowers-of-his-targets
  8. I don’t consider my reaction emotional. BY arm looks suspect. His “processing” is way behind what we were sold. In no way has he looked the part of a difference maker. The standard to compete is Pat Mahommes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Jalen, Dak, Tua…. All I want to see is either the physical tools OR the mental tools to overcome the lack of physical tools. Haven’t seen anything resembling either through two games at literally a third worst in HISTORY comically bad result, and that’s with the garbage time yardage.
  9. Sir, I salute you. I remain hopeful you are correct in your assessment. I sincerely wish you the best with fam tomorrow.
  10. The absolute measuring stick until the S3 has all the bugs worked out.
  11. That’s a red herring. We didn’t score “meaningful” points and you know it. Also, BY threw at least two that should have been picked.
  12. I agree with too soon to know. 2023 and 2024 are burnt no matter how you slice it, so we’ll definitely find out. I just haven’t seen anything promising, nothing….subject to change. Also, leading a TD against a Saints defense playing chess while you play checkers isn’t the kind of progress I want to see from #1 overall.
  13. But BY isn’t Peyton Manning or Drew Brees any more than he’s Jamarcus Russell, Jimmy Clausen or Ryan Leaf. It takes time to recognize a bust in the same way it takes time to recognize a great. What I’m talking about is the now, and it’s not good….at all.
  14. Ok so I think my point has merit then. Lining up under your RG in the N.F.L is a J.O.K.E. Especially if your #1 trait is supposed to be football IQ. TBH, I appreciate your optimism and content Scot, I really do. I’ll happily be wrong and happily eat my humble pie when BY puts it together. This has been two HISTORICALLY bad starts from the rook though and worse than that it actually looks awful, it’s doesn’t just feel awful.
  15. A balanced and nuanced breakdown of another Panther loss. This is the way. I hope everything is ok with your wife.
  16. I want you to be right, I really do. Bryce just looks like complete dog poo though, completely lost and inadequate would be my description. He has the 3rd lowest yards per completion of any QB in history with at least 50 attempts through 2 games. He lined up under his RG and had to be pushed over by the RB every BY nut hugger is hating on. It’s not good. I want it to be good, but it’s not good.
  17. I haven’t charted the play by play. The eye test is alarming though. Bryce has objectively and historically been awful through his first two starts. Anyone calling it anything different has blinders on. Maybe there’s something there we haven’t seen yet but if there isn’t this is a ridiculous and comical whiff by what is already a laughing stock of a franchise.
  18. There were three receivers nfl open for the 1st there. This is awful.
  19. What if someone told you Rhule wasn’t rock bottom.
  20. If this were a real super computer I wouldn’t want it doing my taxes. That was an awful decision and a weak throw.
