I love the pick, but assigning a grade to any draft or drafted player before they play a down in the NFL is just, well...stupid.

 

The draft is a crapshoot, from the 1st pick to the last. 

 

Clowney could bust. Watkins could bust. Some no name (like Brady or Richard Sherman) could be a future hall of famer. Nobody knows beyond an educated guess.

Given the options available, the Panthers used their workouts and scouting to bring in the best possible player on the board that will fill their holes. Carolina showed patience by not trading up, but may have opportunities to do so in the 2nd round.

Without watching them play a down.....you knew Andrew Luck and Blaine Gabbert didn't have the same bust risk.

This kid could be a stud but his bust odds seem very high.

B- due to the fact that he was picked on potential, but like others have mentioned he can at least be a red zone threat (i.e. Jerricho Cotchery).

If he puts it all together (routes, drops, and strength training, speed)... oh boy...
