Panthers will reportedly sign DT TJ Jackson.........who???

Think this is another one of those threads where we just pick names out of a hat and say we should sign them. Do you even have any clue who this guy is? I told you in an earlier post that we would sign a no name guy who was young and had limited experience but was cheap.

Word from Gantt is that just such a guy is visiting the Panthers as we speak and is getting a physical and will sign shortly. If it is before Kemo is put on IR then we will be losing another player momentarily. Apparently we worked Jackson out recently and put him on the short emergency list.

And how do you know that we have better players on the roster already. You don't know anything about this guy and you barely know about the players on the roster. One thing is for certain, no two things are certain: 1) We're salary cap strapped and 2) Fox has a good rep of picking good players. If you're a fan, be a fan. If you're a @#$%^ shutup

nice. say it with me.......championship.

Seriously, I guess we will have to wait till preseason starts to get an idea of what we might look like on the DL. Someone needs to play above expectations.

come on guys... let's just take a step back and RELAXXXX. if you guys remember when Jenkins went down and Jordan Cartsens stepped in, he was an unproven player that did well for us. We have 4 or 5 guys that can easily be a solid player for us @ that position. The odds are pretty good that one of those 4 or 5 players we have in camp RIGHT NOW could earn that starting spot.

CAMP BODY INDEED! Nothing to see here:

Kind of negates all the positives...

POSITIVES: Explosive run-stuffer in the middle of the line. Quick off the snap, plays with leverage and was consistently focused on by opponents. Flashes power, gets push up the field and is forceful in the middle of the line. Tough, yet also plays smart football.

Kind of negates all the negatives.

lol, Yeah, you could look at it either way, but being that he is only about 311 lbs., I don't think he's as much of a run-stuffer as this 'scouting report' suggests. It may have appeared that way in college, but I don't remember seeing a "stout-against-the-run" DT being less then 325 lbs. or so.

On top of that, his 40 time wasn't great either. I'd like to know his strength numbers though. His size suggests he does play with good leverage ("low man wins"), but we'll have to see. I do just think he's a body though.

Aside from that, I did see some posts on a Chiefs board, and a lot of the fans there thought he played well and "had potential."

Give it a few weeks, we haven't even gotten to the first round of cuts yet. I bet there will a gem on the waiver wire. And sure as you're born, some vet DT is gonna get cut who can fill in for a year. Anyone who we sign right now, I would assume is not in serious contention for the starting gig.

    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
    • Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
