Gettleman on Boston "He sets a tone, he's a very physical player"

GM Dave Gettleman on #Panthers fourth-round pick Tre Boston: "He sets a tone, he's a very physical player.

Seems an aggressive backfield is still something we are very much interested in after the departure of Mike Mitchell. Does Boston have the swagger necessary?

Like I said in another thread.  My friend breaths and sleeps UNC.  He said that Boston came in as a highly rated player that never quite panned out.  he said that Boston has decent speed and athleticism, but gives up too many big plays over the top.  He said that there is no way he would have drafted Boston and could have justified taking James Hurst at that pick, and he would have been a lot happier.

Sounds like Deon Grant

I'm just excited cause I feel Rivera and wills can get the best out of any defensive players.

You give them a guy with some "reasons as to why they can make it", and it is not beyond them to make a really good football player.

I swear call be a tard but I feel we have the perfect combo of HC and GM.

We have a GM who has supposedly a good eye for talent, And a HC who at least defensively can get the most out of that talent. That's really exciting to me. Its not name driven, or a popularity contest. We get players in the building one way or another systematically, almost by formula to mold and build what we want to build.

UNC's defense gave up over 240 yards a game to opposing quarterbacks.

Why anyone would draft a member of the Tar Heel's secondary is beyond me.

I don't care if he hits hard because that's not even 50% of the game. Boston can play the run and that is it, if you're relying on him to be a cover safety then you are screwed.

I'm a Carolina fan by the way.

I think he could look very, very bad this preseason. Whether it's because he's raw or not ready for the NFL is undecided, but in college the dude at times looked absolutely lost.

Sure, he can hit hard. But man, he looked straight confused sometimes in coverage.

    • You honestly think Tampa would have traded down with a division rival so their rival could land a “generational player” at a massive position of need for TB?   bruh
    • Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!
    • And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
