Top-4 FA Additions this Offseason

First off, we will no doubt get some more vets rolling in down the road...but thought this would be cool to see:

..Who are your top-4 additions from the FA?  Explain why as well.

1-Jerricho Cotchery--This is one of the FAs I think we knew we wanted early on....maybe before the offseason even began.  He's filled in as a team's #1, 2, 3, and 4th guy and done well in nearly every role asked.  Locker room guy, a regarded mentor as well by multiple sources.

2-Antoine Cason--No doubt had an off year but he is capable of being a very good CB and is only 27.  Huge potential here next to White.

3-Jason Avant--Another great and reliable role player.   I think he could end up ahead of JC in receiving yards.  Andy Reid loved this guy.

4-Thomas DeCoud--A late 20s guy who if works out (which I think he will ball out behind our front-7) is a piece in place for maybe ~4 years.

The cool thing too is that we have the opporunity to use these guys along with the likes of the young receivers and secondary.

It gives Benwikere, Boston, KB, and maybe even Underwood/King/Brown/etc. a clear opportunity to step up without having too much pressure.

your turn.

The best thing about the ones listed in the OP is that they all were signed to 2-year deals instead of the 1-year deals that were given out last year. so, if they are productive this year then we will still have them next year as well

The only correction is that that Avant is on a 1-year but right about the other 3.

At the end of the year, when people think of our offensive weapons it will be Olsen, KB, Avant, and Cotchery.  I'm hoping one of the other wideouts comes out of nowhere.  Currently on the King bandwagon.

1. Cason- down year in 13 but has the potential to be an instant improvement over Munnerlyn/florence on the outside. On a side not I think Godfrey/benwikere will also prove to be formidable nickels.

2. Harper- at first I completely hated this signing but it has grown on me. I think he has the aggressiveness we liked from Mitchell, and will fit in nicely with our scheme and with McDermott planning to be more aggressive this season as a situational box safety and Blitzer. I think he will have more sacks than either Munnerlyn or Mitchell did. He can be a liability in pass coverage and I expect Boston/Lester to be rotational players for these situations.

3. Cotchery- as others have said should be a reliable target and a great mentor.

4. Decoud- after an off 13 with a lackluster pass rush in ATL I think behind our front seven decoud can excel in pass coverage ballhawking. He does need to improve his tackling.

As you can see I honestly do think our secondary will be improved this season. Im still skeptical of our offensive line situation.. but hopefully a guy like roos may be cut and take a cheap contract.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
