Galaxy S4 or S5?

So I'm thinking of getting a new phone as a present to myself for landing my first real job. I currently have a Galaxy Exhibit and while it's a pretty good phone in its own right, at this point it's simply a cheap disposable smartphone that has outdated technology.

My two top choices are the Galaxy S4 and S5. I'm tempted to shell out the extra $ for the S5 but am wondering if it is worth it.

Anybody have experience with these phones and/or have any other phones they'd recommend over these? My carrier is T-Mobile.

I've always gelt the Galaxy line of phones were like AOL during the 90's. It got you on the internet but it wasn't great.

If you're looking for maximum battery its hands down the Droid Maxx. If you want to go used check out: http://swappa.com/ they verify every phone being sold is clear to be used by the buyer.

Get the s5 waterproof worth the extra money just for that

Water resistant not waterproof. For example if you held it under a sink faucet it would seep under the seals due to the pressure. While you could go swimming with it and be fine.

I have the S4.....its alright......it is totally worth it for the water one.....I don't have that one but a co-worker does. He told me he jumped in a pool with it and stood under a leaky umbrella and it performed well on both occasions.

There are a few finicky things about it- I really don't like how Samsung or Android or whoever just packs in all these bullshit apps that I can't uninstall. Not fair! I don't use half the things they put on there. I finally figured out how to get them to stop running and not showing up on the screen, but can't completely uninstall.

Hopefully they have improved some of the smaller details. Like. if you want to open something (ex: youtube video can be opened in browser or with youtubeapp), it asks which way you would like to open, and then it asks if you want to do that only once or every time that happens. If you do every time, it defaults every time like that and you have to go in and change. Just open it. Ain't nobody got time for all those questions.

I was really intrigued with the Split Screen feature as that is something I can definitely use in my job with text or address on the bottom and google maps on the top. I really don't use it very much to be honest.

Here is some of what I took from an article defining the differences:

The Galaxy S5 is a bit heavier, wider and thicker than the old model, though. It’s 15g heavier than the S4, but Samsung’s phones are pretty light across the board anyway.
The Galaxy S5 has one clear hardware advantage. It offers water resistance, with IP67 certification. The USB port on the bottom and the battery cover are both rubber-sealed to avoid letting water or dust in, much like other weather resistant phones. You can dunk the S5 in water and as long as the seals are in place, it’ll be fine. Drop the Galaxy S4 in water and you risk killing it.

The Galaxy S5 has a fingerprint scanner and a new a heart rate sensor, both of which command a bit of space under the hood. We don’t think they’re particularly worthwhile extras, though. The Galaxy S5 now has an exceptional screen, probably the best in its class. The Galaxy S4 display is good, but its colours aren’t as natural-looking as those of its successor.

The Galaxy S5 features a very different camera to the Galaxy S4, much as it may sound similar in some respects. The Galaxy S4 uses a 13-megapixel Sony sensor, the Galaxy S5 a Samsung ISOCELL sensor of 16-megapixel resolution.

then the article got really long and Im tired of copying and pasting:

Every Android phone I've every owned just seems to poop out after a year or so. My S4 lags severely when I'm typing and all sorts of things. The battery life is a problem. I can't have an active day using GPS pretty much away from my charger.

Also, low light photos and night time photos with the S4 basically stink.

I'm about to switch to iPhone. I just want a clear and responsive UI with quality features. The flagship androids feel quality for 6 months and then they just kind of stop working, and I take great care of my electronics.

I hate the samsung bloatware.

I love the high quality display and camera.

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
