D.Williams...props to a good guy...on and off the field

Gave up his plane seat to a Vet today...shows what kind of person he is.He works hard for breast cancer awareness...always willing to be friendly and interact with our fanbase....always smiling it seems.Lost his mom recently and handled it like a man on his social media posts, very thankful and grateful to all.I know he will be gone next year and I hope he has a productive season.Regardless of the asinine contract Hurney gave him and how some dislike him for that reason...he is still a good guy, great with the fans and gives 100% on the field.Props to you Deangelo.

That was nice of him, and I don't mean to downplay that act but I kind of wondered why he felt the need to post about it.

All good deeds shouldn't have to be a secret. Heck, it made me feel a little better about the potential goodness of people knowing he made such a respectful gesture. Hopefully, his post will inspire others to do the same.

I did not read any post so take my comments with a grain of salt. He does not seem to be an attention hound so I would think it might be just to let people know "hey I did a good deed, so can you" type thing. I believe he is a genuine guy. People like him and TD are really are gems for this team.

Unfortunately it appears the guy isn't really a Marine... wearing his cover indoors, medals displayed incorrectly, etc... read the comments in the FB post.

DeAngelo had no way of knowing, still a good deed!

He had to let people know. Otherwise this service member just thinks some black guy with giant thighs gave me his seat. Or maybe he saw a young man or woman willing to put down their life so he can play a game for millions of dollars.

Are there any military men on this forum that can confirm this?

It's tough to tell from the photo. I can see a Silver Star and he's an E-9. There aren't that many E-9's around and he's black so that really narrows down the list. I don't see why anyone would fake that of all ranks.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
