Cam makes nice with Peter King

In today's MMQB, Peter King discloses a conversation he had with Cam Newton when King visited Panthers camp last week.

He got right to the point. He said most of the people close to him wanted him to never speak to me again. Ignore me. I was one of the haters, so don’t deal with me; just deal with the media who were either fair—in their minds—or consistently supportive. “But I am my own person,’’ he said. “I think for myself. I make my own decisions. I decided I wanted to talk to you to see if we could work this out. I don’t want to walk the other way every time I see you. That’s not what a man does.”

and read this...

But in the end, I feel bad that he was branded with those comments because his three years as a player has proven him to be, after some missteps at post-game podiums following losses, a good person and leader.

Yes, that is Peter King complimenting Cam Newton. Although, why add the "after some missteps at post-game podiums following losses". Couldn't he have said...

Guess he couldn't be that nice.

Haha! Well, he was kind of being honest tho. Cam was pretty bad with his attitude after loses. No matter how mad or frustrated you are, as an NFL player, you cant react that way. The media is looking for a reason to throw you under the bus. Cam has learned that now. So King was accurate in saying that. But you are right, he could have just not mentioned it. Lol!

Good of Cam to drop the grudge. He can play nice and us fans can carry the grudge for him.

Peter King may be "respected" but the entertainer and icon was a cheap shot if there ever was one, designed for clicks and not substance

    • I think there’s plenty of ways you can go about choosing the worst position group for us. LB, S, EDGE, hell even CB. For me, our biggest weakness remains depth. Plenty of reasons behind that (poor drafting, bad contracts, not a big market to attract FAs, etc.). Injuries will and do happen and for us, one big injury to any of our weaker position groups and things start looking similar to last year. The only position groups that can continue contributing while having injuries IMO are OL and RB. So both should be the only two considerations for strengths even though I understand  the hope and/or projection for WRs. I tend to not use projection in “right now” rankings. But i get it.
    • If WR is our biggest strength that will be HUGE. It basically means that T-Mac showed up as a legit #1 WR from day one and XL developed into a legit starter over the off-season. IMO, the strength of the roster is obviously OG. We have one of the best pairs of starting OGs in the league with some decent depth behind them. The biggest issue we face is that there are numerous compelling arguments to be made about our biggest weakness. LOL
    • Plus he can still have a great season with a bad defense.  It may not show up as wins but he should get plenty of drives to show how far along he has come in his development even with a bad defense.
