Benjamin Fired Up in First Start with Newton

Though he didn’t match the spectacular grab he pulled in against the Bills last week, first-round receiver Kelvin Benjamin showed on just two plays the sort of skills that could see him make an immediate impact. Benjamin’s biggest attributes are his size and strength which he put to good use last night beating a physical corner in Steve Smith on in-breaking routes for each of his catches. The opportunities will be there for Benjamin to contribute and he has certainly shown the ability in the first two weeks of preseason to make plays against man coverage. His apparent strength on post and dig routes fits well with Cam Newton’s passing profile from last year and Panthers fans will be eager to see these two form a productive pairing right away.

Yea fug you Steve Smith for trading yourself to the Chiefs to try and sabotage our plans

We do play them this season.

damn nice, don't know how I missed that. should be fun to watch. im guessing the vikings are going to do everything possible to avoid captain getting stuck covering KB, while we'll be shifting him and moving him around specifically trying to get that matchup

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
