Looks intriguing. Depends what round though... Do you know where he could be expected to go? I know it's early.

Bersin runs better routes, has better hands, doesn't drop the ball every other play.. Lafell completly lacks consistency. Bersin is more dependable..

Now please explain to me why Lafell was better for the Panthers. Lafell has had opportunity after opportunity, Bersin came in as a scrub, and showed out to earn the "#4" spot. No reason we can't use him as a #2. What does a #2 do that Bersin can't do? If you can't answer that question..

Seriously guy? I did not love LaFell as our #2 receiver, but LaFell runs way better routes than Bersin. As for drops, we have no idea whether Bersin won't drop the ball. LaFell did not drop the ball a lot in the offseason just as Bersin hasn't. For all we know he could get some time on the big stage and drop all his targets. Bersin's route running has looked good because he's going against 3rd stringers and it's considerably easier to get YAC against bad tacklers. LaFell went against 1st stringers and looked better both in routes and YAC. I'm not a LaFell advocate but he is considerably better than Bersin. Cotch and Avant are both better than LaFell in my opinion too, so there's not a chance in hell Bersin passes them on the depth chart if they are healthy.

Bersin will almost definitely make the team but at best case he is a 4.

Not so fast my friend.

KB, Avant, Cotchery, and King are the locks.

Bersin is fighting with Philly as the #5 WR. Given Philly's ability to return punts. I think he had the edge.

Bersin likely only makes the team if we keep 6WR's.... Which is not a lock that we do.

We need to let Bersin make the team first (which I think he will) and then take advantage of regular season opportunities against 1st team defenses before we get too crazy.

As for Cotchery, he was very reliable last year and knows how to get open.  When our #1 is a rookie it's probably better to have a guy like Cotchery out there with him.  All of them need to build more rhythm/chemistry with Mr. Newton, so I hope the kid gets his opportunities.

Safety Thomas DeCoud , a former Pro Bowler with the Atlanta Falcons who signed with the Panthers in April, also likes what he sees in Bersin:

"I see a really good diamond in the rough, a guy who can really make a name for himself this year with the opportunity that he has," DeCoud said. "He's another guy with great ball skills who runs good routes and loves to compete."

...

Bersin said:

"(Wide receivers) Coach (Ricky) Proehl does a really good job giving every player, whether he be undrafted, a first-round pick or veteran, a fair amount of reps in practice and a good chance to make the team. Just like last year and the year before, you go out there and make the most of what you have."

...

"He's given himself a legitimate opportunity to make this football team," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He's gotten our attention."

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
