I think you underestimate what a good coordinator can do. Just look at what Rob Ryan did with the Saints defense. They went from one of the worst defenses in the league to a top 5 defense in one year.

I guess it is too much to ask for folks to realize that Shula runs the Offense that Rivera likes.

It's like their personal opinion means more than actual facts.

lol How so many blame Shula for the lack of offense we have had this preseason. For the fact we have no oline hardly block for RBs and protect QB. How do you expect Cam to have to throw a good pass if the other team D is in his face most the game. Shula does his best. And while we are at it. Less be honest. Hurney really screwed this team when it comes to the cap. We still another 2 seasons before we can afford to start building this team to win season after season. It's going to get worse before it get better for this team. With our cap been bad next off season as well. We could be looking at our D taking a step back as well if we can't resign Hardy long term or get CJ to redo his contract so we can free up cap. We might have to release CJ as well. Then we could lose both our starting DEs next off season. So Shula ain't the big problem of this team right now. The big problem starts next off season with our cap, Hardy, and CJ been release to save cap. I want to win again this season. But long term is ain't just about Shula. It is about this team and it's cap problem and how we can keep our  core guys next off season and beyond. So we don't end up the next Raider like team and failing.

Shula has never fielded a good - dominant offense and never will.

He lacks innovation, creativity, and will leave you scratching your head quite a bit (how many long bombs have we seen on 3rd and short?)

He doesnt use bread and butter plays near enough.

Picking Shula over an OC like Jackson was dumb as poo.

Will be a glorious day when he is let go.

So wait you think you can a much better job the Shula? With the current oline and the WR core we have. Our oline even with Turner and Chandler in there is only decent at best. And all of our WRs are new to system and Cam ain't much time with them yet. I'm sure you can do much better with what Shula has to work with. Please be our guest and be come the Panthers new OC for the season. Dude the offense problems are much deeper then just Shula. Just chill.

P.S. You also know that teams don't really game plan during the preseason right? If this was the regular season. I would be worried. But it ain't. So stop giving Shula hell bro..

Shula had a good tight end, good center, and left tackle last year. You could say Smitty is good but I would say he was above average at best last year. Other receivers included Brandon Lafell who specialty is blocking and never had a solid #2 WRs numbers. Ginn was coming off a season where he had what two catches? He is a fast guy and can make big plays but drops a lot of catches.

Our fullback was our best running-back because Stewart was injured and Williams is in the decline as well.

Our offensive line had many holes and arguably was our biggest weakness. Chandler was playing defense the season before and ended up playing guard. Chris Scott started many games and he was average at best. We also had Wharton and Hangman start as well and Wharton is retired now and Bell is well Bell.

We were 12-4 dude

Damn a long days work can make you forgetful thanks. Still a 12-4 record is still very good.

how is the team expected to start out of the gate quick when Shula's play calling relies on a heavy quantity of fitting square pegs in round holes... let's beat this game plan down their throats until it works.

I would be happy just to stop seeing DWill handed the rock out of shotgun. That's why you have Stewart and Tolbert, especially when the OL proves over and over it's not working. Or that they can hold the point of attack long enough for these long ass routes to be run continuously..

I think we're saving Stewart.

For the reg season

Like another posted pointed out great coordinators can take poo units and significantly improve their level of play. Key example is Ryan in NO. This is a business, no one cares about all the excuses (OL, WR's etc etc). You find a way to work with what you got and put them in the best position to succeed. At the end of the day it is about results. Our offense was bottom half of the league last year. And that was with having one of the most dynamic qbs in the NFL.

Shula deserves nothing but hell. He has yet in his entire career as a OC fielded a good offense. So please spare me all the excuses. Should have never been given the job.
