Panther Realities, Week 1

So I guess Kurt Warner wasn't as good as Tony Banks and Tom Brady wasn't as good as Drew Bledsoe.

Jake pre-injury was one of the best QB's in the game.  After, not so much.  DA's peak is not what Jake's peak was, thats the truth.  Like everyone else has said, I'm very thankful that we have Anderson on our bench, he's a great teammate and has shown he can go in when needed and win a game or 2.  You say jake played with a roided out O-line, well, DA is playing with a record setting defense, all he's gotta do is not be awful and he can win games.

As I read through all these posts, I do and do not understand the complaints with the play calling.  Personally, I continue to recall on the drive where Gano missed the field goal ..... they went for the kill on 3rd down; and if not for Anderson just missing Olsen the Panthers go up 24-0.  I also liked when the running game wasn't working well, they were able to pass effectively.  Now,  I do find some of the run plays called questionable at time; but overall I am going to continue leaving my judgement on the offense, play calling, and Shula until I see how this all plays out.

I was mostly disappointed in that the Panthers had to ruin what was mostly a stress free watching day. It would have been nice to either get that extra TD or FG on that drive.  they didnt have to bring that past anxiety experience by turning this game into one where I am thinking "no way they blow this".

Very glad to start this season 1-0 ... for a change!!  Now they need to get better and build on that.

my favorite reality, might just be, a few of the wannabe experts on this board who were so adamant about DA starting an us have zero chance winning have been missing the last 18 hours.  i think a few of those guys wanted us to lose so they could have proven their imaginary little point.

I know everyone is praising D.Will and rightfully so BUT I am still not convinced. On several plays in the 1st half, he had open lanes and never took them but instead made a straight shot into the Buc's front 7. He also tries to make too much happening with shifts which leads to negative yards. He did improve over the period of the game but still not convinced.

Lets point out their starter is a career backup who showed why. Two absolutely bone headed INT's.

This game should have been a blow out.

It wasn't a blow out.

I think it should have been a blow out as well.

BUT, any NFL win is a good win.  If you aren't "happy" with a win against another NFL team, there's something wrong with your thought process.

I think the they will look at that for sure and make corrections.

I doubt it.

I may disagree with Medellin about not being "happy" about freaking winning, but I agree with him about the offensive play calling with a lead.

That is what Rivera/Shula do when they get a lead... they go conservative then start looking at the clock hoping some freak property of physics will make the clock start running faster.

There will be no "correction" in this regard.  That's what they do.  That's who they are.

Derek Anderson is capable of taking this team wherever it needs to go - What a luxury for the Panthers.

Sean McDermott is an outstanding play caller on defense - 3 man rush/Luke sack was brilliant.

Deangelo Williams played far better than Jonathon Stewart - Sorry haters.

Kelvin Benjamin is the real deal - Nice work Getts.

Luke saved our ass - The defense was gassed at the end.

Can't wait for week 2!

Quote from Pewterreport:

Kuechly makes plays to win games. McCoy just talks about it

And I couldn't agree more.  He steps up for this team every time out.

If they don't tackle CJ on the fullback dive in the second quarter that accounted for over half of their offensive output for the first half, we lead by more than 10-0 at half as well.....

You can cherry pick plays all night long.  A division win on the road.  Take it and run, and hope Megatron gets crabs this week.

They held Klein on that play too.
