That's not what I was trying to do there.

Just showing Teeray that Rivers does belong at the very top of the pecking order, even in the same breath as Brees, Brady, Rodgers and Manning.

Boy, I disagree. I put him at top half of the league for sure and wouldn't get an argument from me to put him top 10, but I don't put him anywhere near the same breath as those 4 QBs.

Everyone has an opinion though

WTF?

Rivers is not in the same class as Manning/Brady/Rodgers/Brees not even close.

Yeah I agree, I don't get the Phillip Rivers hype at all.

I know. I wasn't strictly directing that at only you, it was more of a general sentiment.

I don't think he's at the very top, but he has been forgotten a bit. Rivers first 3 full seasons he put up 78 touchdowns.

Though I should point out that during the years that he had LT in the backfield literally destroying defenses all on his own at times, Rivers was racking up quite a few INT's. That ultimately was a big factor in why they could never get past the first round in the playoffs.

Some here label Cam a gunslinger, and I just don't care for it personally. With what I've seen from Cam, and know about him as a competitor so far, I believe he will refine his craft in the passing game over the next 5 years to become a damn good passer on his own.

I think Rivers is every bit as good as Brees. Drew is probably the most overrated QB in the league sans Kaepernick.

I mean, I hate drew Brees as much as the next guy. But, he's the entirety of the Saints 10+ win seasons. If Brees wasn't on that team, they wouldn't win 5 games.

I swear some of these posters just sit around and jerk off to pictures of this man. Talk to a million other people in the Carolinas that don't make 300 posts a month on this board and you'll get completely different opinions. The "homer ism" here is out of this world. "Greatest QB of ALL TIME," "Greatest skill-set in NFL history." Are you people for real? I'm a Panthers fan. Not a Cam fan; As are 95% of people at BOA on Sundays.

Excellent QB? I agree. Worth that much money? Debatable. Worth it if it damages the team as a whole? Absolutely not.

That's all I had to say.

You do realize that Rivers threw less INT's in his first 3 years starting than Cam, and they went to the Championship game in 07 and the divisional round in 08?

Oh hey, we've never seen this kind of rhetoric here before. How refreshing.

Just how often do you post on the Panthers facebook page I wonder? You'd fit in well there if you don't already.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
