I'm still perfectly happy with the Panthers receivers thus far and agree with your point. Also, I don't think SS or KB would be near their respective numbers right now if he were still in Carolina.

Yeah! Then in 2015 & 2016 we'd still have Bell/Chandler at tackle because Smith would be sucking up all of the cap space at the ripe age of 36 & 37.

No he wouldn't. In fact, about a week before he was cut he was on the radio and laughed when asked if he'd restructure. "Absolutely not," is what he said, to be exact.

That radio interview very well might have been what ended Smitty's time here in Carolina, or at least started moving things in that direction.

he said he wouldnt. and then later admitted that he was going to hang up his cleats after this season had he stayed in Carolina.

Talk is cheap. Alpha dog super competitive Smitty can say he'd play for a five dollar footlong and line up in the slot all he wants but I don't buy it

Peppers said he was willing to stay here too and then he turned down a contract that would have paid him $14 million/year after the 2009 season. This happens all the time.
