Rivera: Panthers Tempted to Unleash Cam?

Think about this.  What is the converse of the above statement?

The converse is, up to now, they have NOT LET Cam "embrace his natural style of play".

In other words, Cam may be digging a hole into the pocket because he's hurt.

But considering the above, can't it be a possibility that he's digging his hole in the pocket BECAUSE HE'S BEEN TOLD TO DO SO (i.e. not "let")?

Yup....now imagine if we had a Chip Kelly or similar...

This is what you get with conservative play not to lose defensive minded HCs.....so tired of it.

Dood said he doesn't want him to embrace his natural style of play....lol just wow.

I like the way Cam is playing now if it reduces his risk of further injury.

I wish Rivera and Shula would stop listening to the media and have a plan.

This is the NFL. Rivera, should have know (but then again, just look at Rivera's history) that Nothing is For LONG, and that his beloved Panthers defense may not be what he wanted it to be. After all, it's only been really good for a season, and decent for half a season (2nd half of 2012 when Luke took over). These guys fell asleep on the offense.

Right now (as I've said countless time), the passing game is better than the putrid and injured running game, so they better find a way to make both work with out killing Cam.

Of course many of us will say "it's not easy, because". But hey, that's why you wear the Big Boi pants in the NFL, receiving that Big Boi Salary.

Anyone can coach when things are going well.

Funny thing is hue jackson who we could of replaced shula with last offseason is doing wonders for the bengals offense.

AJ Green, Gio Bernard, top 10 o-line. I hate Shula and want to see him gone but I've never cared too much for Hue Jackson.

if "unleash cam" means an end to "let's run the ball a lot because that's our philosophy" i'm down for it. offensive balance is essential, but when you're taking plays from cam newton, who will make them, and putting them in the hands of darren reaves, who will not, just to fulfill the quota set by your philosophy, then you end up losing football games, or only winning them when your defense plays like world champs.

if "unleash cam" means "let cam do what he does best and design your philosophy around potentially the best offensive player of all time" then yes for the love of god unleash cam newton

See these types of remarks doesnt help Rivera at all. Its just like last year when he finally realized after the Buffalo game that we needed to start taking chance and putting the game in our hands and it changed the season around. But it took a 0-2  start coming off the previous year for him to wake up? Way to piss off the fanbase Rivera.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
