Defensive Lightswitch

It's funny how preople here went from "No way we should pay Hardy he only looks good and gets sacks because of CJ and Star" to "Hardy is by far the best player on our line and losing him made our defense the worst ever."

they work off each other.  johnson is a rucker to hardy's peppers.  a DE that isn't a superstar but rushes the passer and plays the run well bookended by a wild card that can take over games by himself.

Bad comparison. Hardy is 10x more complete than Peppers and CJ is no Rucker, not even close so far this year.

CJ is just in a slump, he has done more with less.

Not in the eye of public opinion that Richardson subscribes too. Im not too sure life in prison would satisfy the media at this point.

fug public opinion. Only reason public even cares is because of the Rice video. If Hardy just took his charges he would be back @ Packers instead he is appealing and is getting penalized? I DONT GET IT

Hardy will play this year, he will have the support from former players like Deon etc and six games is the new standard which is "the tougher" standard set.

Is it wrong to believe we are missing Captain at NB?  It seems to be that we are getting slaughtered on the quick screens to WR's and the slants.

No, it's not wrong, particularly this past week.  Godfrey is an awful nickel back.  Benwikere has been solid, but he's still a rookie.  Captain was absolutely a great nickelback.  The problem was that he frequently was required to play outside for us, and he WANTED to be a #1 corner.

just in the general sense. you know what i meant.

of course johnson is no rucker this year because he has a hip injury. quit trying to nitpick.

I know what you mean I just don't agree with comparing Hardy with Peppers. I think Hardy is a more complete player than CJ too.

Agreed and he wanted to be paid like a #1 corner. Way too much money for a nickelback. Bene is nearly as good as him. But Godfrey absolutely sucks.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
