Hardy not coming back after 6 games

Serious question, couldn't Hardy drop the appeal and take the guilty conviction?

If this is the case he could make a good case for time served as the 6 game automatic suspension, give up six six game checks, and be playing in a week and a half against Seattle.

Why the hell would he admit guilt when he's maintained his innocence all along, and almost certainly is innocent. If you were facing charges would you really give up and not try to fight injustice just so you could play a game of football. This is a man's life here and what he's accused of is serious sh*t. The importance of justice completely wipes out any importance of Hardy playing right now.

He would lose a poo ton of money. From a business stand point it would be dumb

Yea but it is a huge gamble that he he gets acquitted at trial.

If he's found guilty he is going to be suspended 6 weeks without pay anyways. He would be a free agent with a 6 week suspension hanging over his head, and wouldn't have played a game in almost a year. This would crush his market value and end up costing him so much more money in the long run.

Personally I think he would be better off taking a pay hit upfront. That would give him 10 games this season to put up big stats, build his market value, prove he can preform through distraction, and position himself to get a big long term contract.

Sticking with the appeal is being penny wise and dollar stupid. It's probably of Rosenhaus protecting his own greedy interest and Greg being stupid enough to go along with it.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Ray McDonald still play for the 49ers despite his legal issues that are also related to domestic violence?

From what I see the 49ers GM basically told the NFL they are going to let due process play itself out before deciding what to do. Why can't we do the same for Hardy?

Completely different situations. McDonald was never charged with anything.

If pleading guilty was in the best interest of my career then yes I would plead guilty whether I did it or not.

Okay. That makes sense. They want something legit in writing to go off of instead of the current lets make stuff up as we go model. Make sense for both sides.

No one is going to be making legal threats about Hardy. He collects his paycheck until his court date.....then he either is innocent or guilty.

Even if innocent I wonder if he plays this year. I could see him just holding out the rest of the year

Complicating any notion of "pleading guilty" and falling on the sword is the looming civil litigation by the alleged victim.

Good point I didn't think about that, It would put her in great shape to get what she probably has always and only wanted, completely unearned money.
