A reason for the secondary.

WOW!!

G-man brought in hire guns stealing a check instead of young players with something to prove.

Mitchell had something to prove. Melvin had something to prove. Lester had something to prove. We had young guys who were learning and making plays.

Now we are paying a bunch of old guys stealing a check.

Decoud is afraid to tackle and brought that weak soft Atlanta poo to this team.

Roman is old slow and never a leader he was suppose to be in this secondary.

Godfrey can't play nickel and is getting paid to fake effort.

Cason is so scared to play man to man that he never plays less then 10 yards from the WR. And he's suppose to be our numbers 1 cb???

At least when the secondary got burned last year they had the speed and youth to make up for the mistake. Or at least they tried to learn from the mistakes. The young guys were able to accept accountability for their mistakes. They also had the nuts to take chances to make plays.

These old guys act like they know everything so how coachable or accountable are they. They are so afraid to make mistakes that they react slow as hell.

The problem with this secondary is they lack speed and coverage skills. I feel that Melvin White and Josh Norman should be starting with Bene at Nickle. Cason has played awful because he is too scared he will get burned deep. That's the main reason he is playing 10 yards off the WR.

RR is borderline idiotic to say white should be benched because he lost composure yet continue to start cason who clearly gives 7 yards to nearly every wr at the point of the snap. RR needs to stop hiring people from his past. also, if you smoke a divisional player nearly every meeting, why sign him? harper's body is clearly over the hill.

Two of the young guys youve mentioned aren't good. White has shown glimpses but overall has been below average. Lester is not even on the team. The point is it's not about who has something to prove or age but simply talent. In addition our front seven was lightyears better then our current one which greatly assisted our former secondary.

this is 100% truth.

i wonder who was out there though that we could get who was young, cheap and had something to prove like mitchell and lester did. Mitchell made our secondary tbh.

i think the biggest issue is how soft our front 7 is now. i'm at a loss for words about that.

The front 7 is soft because the intimidation and emotional leader is at home making rap albums.

This years secondary has less talent for sure in the DB area and it shows. Still it was not like we had any money to sign anyone else than we did so we were kinda stuck. Our draft really didn't produce any DB either that have contributed. Sucks but this is what happens when you have 54.5 million given to two players, one that has not seen 16 games since signing his contract.

    • I guarantee it makes a difference. Give up 2 scores and its basically over until garbage time. The offense can barely drive the length of the field in 3 quarters. The defense has been gutted to build around a QB that is possibly the biggest bust in NFL history. For what we've put into the offense the past 3 years, we should be dropping 30 bombs with regularity. The only 30s we get are FGs.
    • Not according to some fly by night fantasy crusader!  There were 10 drops that should have netted Bryce another 450 yards and 7 TD’s
    • What? Am I mistaken that his rookie year included a horrible coaching staff and support players.   It's wasn't just Bryce.  I won't judge any player from that yeah.  It's impossible to make an accurate assessment on any player under those conditions. It's that simple. You break down each play and look at each player, what the expectation was, what happened during the play and what circumstances affected every player and position. There a reason why the narrative was he could be the biggest NFL bust in history.  Then after his benching he started to show remarkable improvement. Thus all the talk from fans and media about how dramatic of a turnaround it was and that Carolina no longer had a QB problem. First game this year the whole team stunk it up.  Why?  Plenty of blame to go around including Bryce. Improvements do not come it a nice straight line angling up.  I think Sunday was a step back for the whole team.  Still plenty of time to see if it was a bad outing to grow from or another indicator of issues that can't be overcome.
