We couldn't run the football from inside the 5 and our un-creative offensive coordinator couldnt come up with anything else thats why we lost. We could of been up 21 nothing, against a much better team, otherwise and we were well in the game most of the time, clean the sand out of your vagina, and stop being an over-dramatic diva.

Talk about over dramatic lol u kill me. Could of should of but we didn't. Are defend came to play today but seem like are offense is always trailing behind. Btw buddy watch your mouth. ;)

Listen, I've seen Cam make spectacular throws.  He's a great player.  Yet it's getting down to crunch time.  We are about to enter the point of no return.  I want to know if I got a guy who has the ability to win multiple superbowls, or just a guy who can put up probowl numbers.  Four years into his career, I just don't see the year in year out guy.  I don't see the Peyton,Brady,Rodgers guy.  I see a rich man's Daunte Culpepper.  I believe it would be better to trade him away, get some 1st round picks, and build this team up.  Amari Cooper looks like a generational player.  We could get him to play alongside Benjamin.  At the same time draft Landon Collins and draft a great OT in Ereck Flowers.  In the second round draft some more talent. (Then next year having two first round picks as well)  Cam would serve the team better in this purpose if you ask me.  Still take this team to the superbowl, but in a different way.

This reminds me of my boy saying he wanted the Panthers to draft A.J. Green and I would say, "Who's gonna throw him the ball? He can't throw the ball to himself."

Some of y'all act like good QBs grow on trees. Part of me wishes your scenario would happen and you end up with the next Randy Fasani as the starting QB.

Why do you keep comparing him to 3 guys that are or could be 3 out of the top 5 QBs of all time. He may never be that guy, and you don't have to be that guy to win. Your also putting alot of stock into a bunch of guys who have never played an NFL down in there lives, and what do you plan on doing at QB? putting an Andy Dalton back there? How about building around a talented QB you already have which will also allow him to be more consistent. How is he supposed to be consistent with 5 new WRs and a bunch of undrafted free agents on the O-line. The job of the team is to surround what you believe to be the franchise QB with people to help him out. Not surround him with a bunch of below average Offensive linemen, 30+ year old possesion receivers, and basically 3 rookie recievers. You have to give your guy to chance.

To quote the wise and venerable Sloth:

"If Newton does leave for whatever reason, I'm just going to park on the huddle as much as possible and watch the sad, tear-streaked little faces when 2nd/3rd round blue collar QB Caucasio McLunchpail fails to take the team anywhere. - Sloth"

We can have an Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco, Alex Smith type guy throwing them the ball.  I like DA throwing to Olsen, KB, Amari, and Swolebones.

I doubt Rivera will give Cam an adequate chance as long as he's here.  This season is a wash then.  We've confirmed there is absolutely nothing we can do with this O-line, and our receivers suck.  I wish if that were the case, they would play Anderson.  Let me see what a more traditional QB can do with this kind of team.

Other than Flacco you may as well have cam doing it, cause Dalton and smith haven't done anything either. I'M starting to lose faith in this staff quite frankly. If shula is running the show thats a problem, as well as Ron letting it happen.

DA proved in his multiple times as a starter that he isn't in the same stratosphere as the 3 QBs you listed. Cam Newton is the first true franchise QB this team has had since its inception, and fans want to trade him. It's asinine. To truly become a contender, this team must address the secondary and oline through the draft and free agency, because both are a huge detriment right now.

so let me get this straight. the carolina panthers won the division last year. they are in first place as of right now. they are a year or two away from being done with all of their bad contracts. they found their first ever franchise quarterback and now we want to trade him. this is exactly why this fan base cannot have nice things.

Man...I hate to see what our fans would say if we actually had a bad qb...what the actual fug man.

Cam is being wasted here, and it's just sad.

Everyone of these posts are nothing but the TRUTH. Its really starting to get sad.

yeah that's kind of a common trope on this board.  i think we can thank delhomme's improbable run for that-it's had a lasting impact on the mentality of our fans.

really if that formula worked don't you think quarterback would turn into what the running back position is now-meaning most teams in the league consider the position somewhat disposable and more a function of the players around him?  if that was the case i'm sure most franchises would probably like that because a top shelf quarterback usually has a hefty price tag or will once a rookie contract ends.  it'd be much less risky and expensive to plug in the billy voleks and josh mccowns of the world after all wouldn't it?

People forget how bad DA is when he's asked to be a starter and Alex Smith and Dalton aren't any better than Cam. And flacco has his moments

    • You may be interested to know that the average depth of separation is dependent upon the type of route run. Though go-routes are the most type of route run, they also produce the least amount of separation (and, of course, completions).   "The average pass catcher runs a go route on nearly a quarter of all routes (22.3%), the highest percentage of any route type in our data. However, those routes are targeted roughly 1 out of 10 times (10.8 percent), the lowest target rate of any route. The WR screen is the least-run route (3.4%), and it's the only route where the average target is behind the line of scrimmage. But it's also targeted at the highest rate (40.7%) and early in the play (1.6 seconds average time to throw). The most targeted routes outside of the WR Screen? The out (27.8%) and slant (25.2%) routes are the next most popular across the league."     "The most valuable routes by expected points added per target were the post (+0.48) and corner (+0.43) routes. The go route (+0.19) ranked seventh on the list of 10 route types. The go route (+0.19) ranked seventh on the list of 10 route types. One possible reason for this: It's harder to separate on go routes, which put the player on a straight path, than on posts or corners, which ask the player to make a cut. Targeted pass catchers on posts and corners average 2.4 yards and 2.3 yards of separation from the nearest defender, respectively, while pass catchers targeted on go routes average just 1.8 yards of separation."   https://www.nfl.com/news/next-gen-stats-intro-to-new-route-recognition-model#:~:text=Targeted pass catchers on posts,) and slant (+0.26).   I would expect that Thielen would have an easier time catching the ball based that he runs the routes where it's easier to get open. Tet? Yet to be seen, but we may be better served getting him on some slants and crossers also.  In general, receivers are going to average a lower completion percentage and yards of separation on certain types of routes than others, that's why we shouldn't necessarily be taking stats, even advanced ones, at face value, as there are dynamics that most aren't even thinking about.  In terms of Tet, he's bigger and somewhat slower than a smaller dude, so you'd expect him not to have as much separation on go-routes, but his catch radius is massive and his hands are awesome. Hitting him in stride will probably be killer, but of course QBs are less accurate on go-routes according to the stats. Depending upon Tet's route versatility and how he is used, we could have a unicorn though. He's relatively fast, has great hands and gets YAC (and on an off note, if X can hold on to the ball, he's dangerous as well because he already has shown some separation ability).
