The Lakers look bad this year, but I never expected them to be competitive. We won't win a championship until Kobe leaves.

It's actually a brilliant covert tanking plan: Keep Kobe around and give him free reign to jack up all the shots he wants to chase Kareem's record and simultaneously shoot the Lakers out of ball games.

As long as Kobe is around talking about being competitive and scoring points, no one will ever accuse them of not trying to win. What makes the Lakers fascinating this season is watching this freelancing Kobe.

Last time the Lakers went into a talent lull, Kobe demanded a trade. Now all of a sudden he wants to remain with the organization?

It's brilliant.

Wanted to pop in and talk about the 0-5 Lakers but all I see is Kobe level bitching.

Lakers are doing what they must.

Be the 76ers.

If they aren't a bottom 5 team this year their protected #1 pick goes to Phoenix.

Long term every loss is good.

They paid Kobe so fans have something to watch at Staples, nothing else.

The course was set when Stern did what he did.

Now with their #1 Randall this year back next year and a high #1 next year then Kobe coming off the books they'll be fine again.

Until then it is what it is.

The Lakers are light entertainment for SoCal until the plan comes to fruition.

All haters rejoice!

Since when did they start wearing the teal and purple pinstripes?

Yeah second sickest...

Vancouver Grizzlies first jerseys were the best. Choked the day they moved. Were my team until they left for Memphis.

But I will agree Charlotte did have some nice retro's as well

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
